GOP / Democratic race for the white house.

Because she's a woman, duuh :p

I've actually heard a lot of people say that they vote Hillary just because she is a woman and the US needs a woman president because it will be ground breaking and all that ****. Honestly, if you do that, you're no better than all the folks in the world discriminating. You should vote for the one you think has the best points, regardless of sex, race, or if the US "needs" x gender/race for president

Why do so many men seem to hate Hillary?

She wants higher taxes and more government control over more aspects of our life. She is for state funded health care. (which I am against)

I am pretty much against any candidate that is for more government control over my life or over services that I use. :D

I don't hate her, I just don't agree with her on a lot of issues.

As far was what you said Karky, I agree, but part of me thinks it would mean a lot for someone to break that barrier of the white male christian, married with kids etc prototype president. With our history it would mean a lot for a black man or woman to make it. Honestly though , I don't think I'll vote for either of these two

Somehow, plenty of other countries, including some less "liberal" than the US have managed to elect a woman to the top position before. In the States, it's sad that it is still even an issue.

I just review the candidates. Make my decision. Dont care one way or the other on how others feel on the decision I make. The person can be black or a woman. With me the jury is still out and will remain that way for the remainder of the year so I can absorb most of the information in attempt to make an informed decision.

I'm looking forward to the California primaries. This will be my first time voting since I just turned 18. I'm pretty excited about it.

So far, Obama is my favorite.

I remember when I was 18 and voting for the first time. I was totally stoked and was really into politics. Now I'm lucky if I can remember who the governor of Illinois is (it's that Blagojevich guy still right?).

The youth have GOT to get involved. We just had the NH primary, and it really looked as Obama was gonna roll. I went to one rally for him, and people were standing in line, literally for half a mile waiting to get in. And yet he lost? Exit polls said the youth didn't turn out in big numbers to vote. The youth will inherit this place, that age group (like 18-29) really needs to be involved.

I agree with some here about a woman and a black man. We've had 43 presidents. 42 have been while protestant males. One was a white catholic male. It would be nice to just break that cycle. For the record, I voted for neither of them, but could deal with either of them.

The youth are being involved in this election more than it ever has been in the past thanks to the Internet revolution. Most of the youth is supporting Ron Paul, if you'd go to one of Paul's rallies you'd notice most of the people are 18-30.

I don't like Hillary not because she's a woman, not even because of her policies, but because she is so FAKE. It is so obvious everything she says she is just trying to please you, she plays too many political games and she's sold her soul to lobbyists and the corporate media.

The problem I've found with that is that most young people don't have the life experience to make important decisions. I remember over-hearing a group of students talking about politics once and how all people living in western countries should pay about 70-80% income tax because of our luxury lifestyles!!!
Unfortunately, if you listen to young people talk politics you'll soon see that this isn't an isolated case and as a whole the youth have no idea about money and budgets. They all want higher pay for the police and nurses, increased public spending, increased foreign aid but when the issue of taxes comes up they want to cut them?!? Go figure that one out.

IMO, voting should only be available to the over 30's (I know that excludes me but as I get older and learn more, the more I realise I don't know enough)

I agree with you CCR. The problem is that when the people who vote has no idea about politics, you could end up with the wrong people in charge.
"Democracy doesn't work when the majority of people are idiots" - me ;)

Oh please, I've heard the same crap out of people over the age of 30. I just think some people have a better comprehension over things than others.

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."

Winston Churchill

I think this sums up the over and under 30 deal. :D:beerchug:

LMAO, I'd never heard that quote before, it's so damn true as well, every year I get a little more conservative, it's a little worrying :yelrotflmao:

I actually went the opposite way. I grew up in a very conservative home and have moved more toward the middle as I grew up....I'd even be considered liberal on a lot of issues

I grew more liberal towards other people but more conservative in politics.
For example, I think people should be able to do whatever the hell they like so long as they don't harm other people while they do it (things like drugs, smoking, gay marriage etc), but more conservative on issues like crime, educatation, state benefits.

P.S. I want Clinton to win and I think it would do wonders for the US if she got in and here's why;

-The US is currently $9,200,000,000,000 in debt (It's true, I know it looks like I made that up but I didn't) and one day soon, your creditors are gonna want some of that back which you're in no position to pay

Which leads us to;
-Bill Clinton is loved and admired far more in every other country around the world than the US
-Hillary could just drag Bill along with her on foreign visits and international opinion of the US would skyrocket and you'd be given a lot more time to start repaying people

I think I've got all the US financial problems sorted right there, any of you fancy electing me?

I'm going to have to go with Ron Paul so far. His stance on the IRS and social security is one of the main reasons he has my vote.

Any of you guys know why US presidents are only allowed 2 terms? I'm sure there's a good reason but why were people denied the chance to keep Clinton in charge if they still wanted him?

(I know he may well not have won a third term but I'm wondering why you deny yourselves the chance to keep someone on if you want them)
