Going Down Together Club

That's WONDERFUL news!!!! I'm worried about my father now...he's going through a really rough time...threatening strange things...going through a midlife crisis. I have him an appt to get into a doctor...life is worth living, especially with 'me' as a daughter :) and his wonderful grandchildren!!! His work is bothering him...he works too hard and his employees don't pull their weight to do anything and his store isn't doing so well right now...but, I tell him...life's worth living and everything works itself out. Well...that's my share of family issues..lol. Keep him in your prayers okay?

As for the 4th..did everyone do okay? I only ate what I wanted and kept my 'off' switch working...so, I didn't overeat and cheat (much)..had some macaroni salad (that I made..and it was AWESOME!) and some baked beans. So, a little portion (I mean..SMALL) won't hurt anything. I didn't go off the wagon.

Well, talk to you all soon,
Sarah

I'm sorry you are going through a rough time, Sarah. You sound like a very supportive daughter, and I am sure with your love, he will pull through this difficult time. My thoughts are with you and your father.

ohh Sarah, its good that you have an appt with the doctor for him. i hope all goes well. other than that, good job with 4th of july! i didn't go over my cal intake either from the festivities (even with that Blueberry Buckle i ate). its moments lke that that make me feel happy, even though the scale isn't moving :)

avi--i'm glad your grandma has improved! and that we understand that the doctors are being stupid and not doing their freaking jobs sometimes

hope everyone else is doing well :p

1 shot of tequila against me. thats all.

*hugs Sarah*

Hope he does better.

Good news...my dad seems a little better. He's calling the doctor himself..and getting something...I know he is trying and that is good. We all have problems sometimes..and the best thing is when you know you need some help.

As for me, I am trying to get my fiber intake up. Not complex carbs..but, fiber...at least 25 grams a day..that's what they say you need. I read this thing (don't laugh, it was in Woman's World) that said you needed 2 grams of fiber per every 90 calories..to have something be a positive starchy food. I think that's a pretty good rule. I've been eating All Bran, extra fiber for breakfast with light soy milk and some kind of fruit (1/2 banana, apple etc.)

How is everyone else doing? Hey, this isn't the FSD thread.but...tomorrow's FRIDAY!

TTYL,
Sarah

yeah i dont want to step on the scale either. if i see 134 one more time, i swear...but knock on wood because i dont want anything higher either. hopefully the one-a-day weight smart multi-vitamin will also kickstart my metabolism.

check out my post...I'm not a loser in the right sense..I'm just a loser...loser loser...bad bad for some reason.

woot!! closer to a belly button ring.. :) scales where nice to me. Prob cause I was a bit dehydrated. But screw the reasons.. a loss! Yay!! *celebrates*

Hows everyone of my girls doing? where did my lil LA run off to? Hows the weight loss coming girl? Need help?

i'm still 134 today guys :( i'm doing everything i possibly can to lose this weight, i dont know what more i can do. i guess i'll go from drinking 96 oz of water to drinking 128 oz (a gallon) but besides that, i can't think of anything more to do. cardio is at the max, and so is strength training. i'll add in some abs exercises but seriously, how would you all feel if you'd been working your butt off for 8 weeks now, and all you'd seen was 4-5 pounds weight loss. asdl;fkajsd;f. i'm going to try to eat 1400 calories a day instead of 1200, and aim for eating foods that are not commercially made. aka just chicken breast, turkey, eggs, fruits and veggies. *sigh* i dont know what else to do, and i know there's tons of fat on me so there's no way i'm done with losing weight. i'm so sad :( :(

Hey Summer, I'm sorry you are having such a rough time .... a one week plateau sucks, but this is something else

Have you been measuring your waist, or anywhere else? Have these numbers been changing? It may be that you are adding muscle, and losing twice as much fat, so breaking even, and the measurements should reflect this. Keep your chin up, and remember, you have made so many changes already, you have lost a chunk, you are toning and getting fitter and stronger. I bet you look a million bucks already. Don't let your inner voice shout so loud about those last few pounds, that it drowns out all the progress you have made already.

Try to stay positive, and remember, we are always here for you ;)

thanks :) i always have to htink back and tell myself "okay you've lost 17..it is possible." its just such a downer to be stuck somewhere lke this for so long.

so last night, i drank a lot. and then ate a lot. i was so full this morning that i haven't even eaten anything all day until now. my total cal intake for today was 600 or so. it consisted of a banana, an apple, crackers and cheese, and a bowl of cereal.

tomorrow, i'm going to start the Rice Diet. it has no protein in it, which is going to be the completel opposite of my diets that i've been doing lately. its something new and exciting, and i'm looking forward to doing it. its going to be extra hard though at dinner time when i have to plan around what my dad makes now that he's back in town. however, 4 out of the 7 nights this week, dinner is on my own since i'll be working at a restaurant during our "dinner time". i'm also going to do the gym thing like usual. hopefully this new diet will break the plateau and bring my down a couple pounds. i'm not expecintg huge loss lke the other poeple have had since i only have 10 pounds left, but i'm hoping for something! wish me luck!

Exactly what the beautiful Bear said!! My thoughts exactly!
Awwww shucks!!! But you do realise that's not me in my avatar, its my beautiful lizard Buster :D

Hey Summer, I totally agree. We have to remember that our bodies do not want to lose weight. Our bodies worry that we may have a shortage of food at anytime so it wants to hold onto those fat stores. Food is the same as exercise ... if you do the same thing over and over, the body finds ways of conserving energy and hanging onto the fat. I am so certain that if you mix up your diet a bit, you will start seeing results again. Good luck, and I can't wait until Friday now, as I am sure that this will be the key ;)

bloody TOM... I wonder how long after it I retain water for. Cause it should be last day on Wednesday.

i told my dad about the rice diet and he thinks that it couldn't possibly work bc its all carbs and starches (which is going against everything i've ever believed when it comes to diets also...i'm a protein or bust girl) but he's agreed about the dinner hting and how i'll just have my own dinners and we even when grocery shopping and he helped me pick out stuff to buy.

so i'm going to give this diet a try for 2 weeks and it'll hopefully work. today is my detox day and so i have to have 2 fruits and 2 starches at each meal time. its actually not that hard of a diet, and i am left full after eating bc the serving sizes are bigger than i thought they would be. like 1 starch=1 whole cup of cereal. i usually eat 1/2 cup of cereal so this is like a super big treat for me. i'm also a huuuuge lover of fruit so i'm so glad fruit is a big part of this diet. the only thing that i'm going to miss is the meat/fish. i can live without it for a week. lets see what happens. i've got my fingers crossed that this might be what gets me going again.

Sounds good. Mixing stuff up is always good.. our bodies tend to get lazy if we get into too much of a routine. I don't on principle agree with the rice diet.. but I beleive it may be just the thing to knock you off a plateu. I am a beleiver in meats myself.. meat and vegies and very little starch. Thats how I have lost all my weight.

Hi everyone! :) I've been so busy this past week I just didn't have time to get on here. The fam I nanny for got flooded and were trying to fix their house this week so I had some extra time with the kids. I've been exhausted. Anyway hows everyone been doing?

Hey Alicia, I've missed you!! And its nice to see your tickers looking healthy ;)

Summer, I don't think carbs are that bad, and this change could be just what you need. Although your dad might think it won't work because its carbs and carbs are supposed to be 'bad', in principle as long as you consume less cals than you burn, you should lose weight, regardless of where they come from. The only other thing that can affect this is your metabolism, which seems to have slowed down and stopped, and that is why this change might work and jump start it back up again.

Sorry to waffle some what, and I have no scientific basis for this, it is just what I believe from what I have read on the subject. Hope it helps ;)

Welcome back LA.. hows it going? Ouchie on the flooding part.. very nasty. Bu I guess its good you got more work? :)

Hows the diet thingy going? Nice to see some exercise in your tickers.. most wonderful :)
