Weight-Loss Get back on track contest - final 3 weeks!!

Weight-Loss
Havent tried anything but will tonight. Im not gonna do anyhting "new" persay just somthing i havent done in a looong time or something that isnt in my regular routine. I might do some yoga as I love it but never seem to fdind the time for it anymore:( My goal is to have my youngest and I doing it in the evenings before she goes to bed.

It's awesome to do a few "Sun Salutes" upon waking too! But you're a night nurse, right?? Or you work at night doing something... erm

Well I have just done one of my "new exercise" sessions.

I recently expanded my exercise options by buying some old exercise videos at a charity shop. People are all getting rid of video tapes at the moment and the charity shops are virtually giving away video tapes. If anyone is not wanting to spend much money - it is a real bargain.

I have just done "The Exercise Video" with Lizzie Webb. She used to be the exercise lady on breakfast tv here in the UK back in the 1980s. I enjoyed it - although one or two of the tummy exercises were a bit challenging.

I work nights yes, not a nurse though, Community Support Worker for Developmentally Disabled Adults:)I work in a group home.

Ahhh, I see. Wow, I always wondered what working nightshifts would be like... I mean, I would think it would be cool... but then again, who else is really awake at that time... hmmm...

Hi everyone :)

A little intro for those who dont know me :) Im Allie, Im a teacher and due to a recent illness i managed to shift 17lbs during July...not a fun way to lose weight but it was certainly effective! This has pushed me closer to my goal but i still have a way to go!

And now onto the bonus challenges!

Ok.....I have just got home from my very first salsa dancing class and i am EXHAUSTED!!! Kinda fun but i think that i will probably not do it again - my sense of rhythm is not the best!

My second new exercise will be hill walking on friday. I have to admit im a bit apprehensive but im willing to give it a try! Just hope i make it to the top....

Managed to get all my water every day so far and i havnt drowned yet :) My skin is actually looking really good so it def has some benefit! I think i will def try to increase my water intake after the challenge is over.

Averaging around 60 mins exercise per day so hopefully next week I'll be able to raise this to 90 mins per day. I really want to hit 200!!!

My appetite is still not back to normal and (i never thought i would say this!) im trying to get my cals up to around 1500 per day. Doctors orders mean that there is very little i can eat apart from vegetable and fruit - difficult to eat enough to get the cals! Avocados are becoming my best friends :)

Hope everyone is doing well :D:D

Ya it is different, especially diff than staying up late and then choosign to go to bed...I work 4 nights a week 10 hr shifts.

I never thought I would veiw going to bed when I was tired and wanted to as a luxury, lol.

I do however like my job:)

Hi everyone! I'm Phoebe, and I live in Oklahoma, where I'm a tax CPA. My 5yo starts kindergarten on Friday.

New exercise 1 for the week: I turned the compost pile. I've done a bunch of garden stuff this summer (mostly digging out beds), and my parents had a compost pile when I was living at home, but I've never done one myself. I set up the enclosure yesterday and dumped my stuff (leaves from my parents' yard, garden trimmings from my garden, coffee grounds from Starbucks) in, but it was too late to water and mix. So this evening, I spent half an hour with a pitchfork and some 5 gallon buckets, hauling water, wetting things down (just enough, not too much), and moving the pile from one side of the enclosure to the other and back with my pitchfork. It's already nice and hot and smelling good, so I'm happy.

That was actually more fun than you'd think. It took a little bit to figure out the most efficient method of moving stuff around, and I wish my enclosure were better-staked, but by the end, everything was nicely damp and nicely mixed and I was sweaty and starting to get sore. I'm thinking I might dig out some more sod and relocate the pile around the corner, because I don't have a lot of working room where it is. It'll need turning in a few weeks anyhow, so plenty of time.

I'm thinking about jumping rope for the second part, but may change my mind. I usually try to get my big chunks of exercise on the weekend - I only need the 2nd 30 minute new thing to get my 3 hours, because I did 2 hours on Saturday. If I don't do it over the weekend, then get busy during the week, I find myself too much in arrears and struggle to catch up.

I'm good about drinking my water, so anticipate getting all my points there!

Hey guys!

My name is Kaylee (Kay) and I'm a 20 year old University of Toronto student..currently working as a Day Care teacher for the YMCA this summer!

Anyway, as far as trying something new goes, it's unfortunate that a week ago I started yoga as a new thing, because that would have been a good one. SOOO for something new, I'm going to do a new type of yoga that I bought the DVD for.. it looks like of intimidating. I'm not sure what else I'm going to try.
As far as the water goes, I'm riiight on track!

Hey guys. Only made a 30 minute walk today... walked to get some dinner to take back to the hospital for my roommate.. so that was nice. I'm going to get my freaking new exercise in tomorrow. Bought the carmen strip tease thingy, whoo! Water is good.

Oooo, let me know about that carmen tape :)

Oh, Kay, also do tell what kind of yoga you'll be trying? I've really gotten into it the last few weeks.

I am deciding to make my one 30 minutes new yoga positions.

The other, still thinking... not reckoning pilates is too fun at home with no equipment... anyone??

Ive done pilates at home, with dvds adn books. Really it is just advanced yoga. Harder poses...I dunno that is my best exclaimation.LOL

hmmm, well then maybe I will give it a go... off to go trawl the web for good exercise sites now!

Anke - I remember in the challenge before Christmas Yuliana did just that and found the following. I have never tried them - but I do know that Yuliana did just great with her weightloss and did take up pilates for the remainder of her project. She got to goal and then disappeared - making several of us more than a little worried about how she was getting on.

OK, I am in stress because of this week challenge. I don't have any weights or bends at home. All I could think of is finding pilates videos on you tube. I have selected 3 of them which should make a 30 min work out put all together.

Here is the links to them:

That seems to me super extra hard!!! So today I will make a trial workout which won't count for the challenge's minutes. I want to make myself familiar with the routine and hopefully to perform better next time. I hope those pilates count for ST. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I just clicked and two seem to have disappeared - but one is still there.

So today water is on track and i managed 65 mins exercise - a little more than yesterday! I figure if i keep pushing it by 5mins then i will eventually get fit and build up my stamina.

Anke there are lots of pilates demos on youtube - i used this one for my arms and i noticed a difference after a couple of weeks :) Still do the exercises sometimes and they are pretty easy (but hurt like hell for a while!)

This one is for abs and doesnt need any equipment at all. Very painful!!! But very effective! I do love pilates :)

Hope that helps!

I have done my other "new" exercise session today.

I did the warm-up, pop and hip-hop sections (totalling 30 minutes) of a DVD which I bought recently and have not done before. It is the Angela Griffin's dancemix workout. Her fitness trainer in the dvd is Niki Wibrow - and I thought that it was really good.

HOORRAY for the new exercises bonus!! It's re-motivating me and making this week exciting!!!

I'm off to YouTube, thanks SO much Marg and Allie :)

Lori!

Do you want us to calculate and update our own points by Friday midnight in our stat sheets? ...not sure if this is a silly question :p
