Geovicsha's Diary - New Years Resolution.

Congrats on reaching 70kg!! You are just 4.4lbs away from your goal!!!!

Don't worry about the medicine or stability balls, I like to use them because it adds weight and helps work other leg muscles while you're working your abs. Let me go find some pics to go with my instructions. I'll have some of the ab workouts to you by the end of the day!!!

Hi Shannon

Congratulations on passing your driving test.

That is a great achievement and is bound to have taken your focus over the past few days.

Congratulations on your new low. I suspect that there is a typo in there - or you have discovered a workout that gives amazing loss levels. Every new low is however well worth celebrating.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Haha, I wish I got 70.0kg. I meant 79.0kg. :p

Thanks guys! The driving test has indeed distracted me from both weight loss and uni, I was able to balance both pretty effectively until lately. Tomorrow it shall all get back to normal! :)

Thanks Amy for the ab workouts, I'm excited haha.

How was your holiday Margaret?

I was in Newcastle which is where I am from. It certainly was enjoyable.

It was a chance to see my parents - who are now pretty elderly (he's 90 and she's 85) and I know that they wish that they saw me more often. 300 miles is far enough away that you dont see people as often as you would like.

It was also a chance to see some of my friends. This naturally meant that my food was totally different for those days. As you know yourself - when you are asked to eat at someone's house - you never know quite what you will be eating until you are sitting there and it is put in front of you. I can control the catering at my parents house much as I do at home - but when we see friends it is a different story.

I would like to eventually move back to Newcastle - but I doubt that my parents will still be alive when we do that. My husband is from near where we live now which is not far from London.

24lbs isn't that much further to go either, especially with your progress of late. You seem to do well balancing life and school, what are you majoring in?

Margaret: Yeah 300 miles is an awfully long way away. 482km, is that about 4-5 hours travel? What do your parents think about your weight loss? I'm only about 200km from dad during uni and I often miss him!

I know that feeling too well, but it's a part of life and it's just hard to be rude. As long as you stay on track afterwards it shouldn't be that big of problem at all. Right? :)

I'd love to go to England, it was the country my mother was wanting to visit most but she passed away before that could ever happen.

Amy: I predict it will be a much slower progress as the last kg's are coming in, and besides I prefer to see what I see in the mirror rather than a figure. So it might be more, might be less. :) I'm majoring in political science and also doing journalism. Fun fun. I worked at my local newspaper part-time 2004-2006 so that boosted my interest!

Thank you for the compliment anyway! Haha.

Do you guys tend to read your earlier posts (especially in your diary). It's amazing to see how far you've come.

Congrats on 79kg!!

I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at your heart palpatations..lol. You are so damn cute! :) Congrats on getting your license. My H has told me it's much harder to get one in Aussie than here.

Political Science eh? I majored in International Studies, and my advisor was the poly sci chair at the time, and I had to take a few poly sci classes as part of my major. So shall we get into a political argument--I mean discussion? lol What do you think of having a Labour PM now that Howard's finally out of there? hehe

Jog/Exercise

My pedometer is being really annoying lately, I don't even think it's recording all the walking steps.

It's getting seriously cold lately and I'm not used to it, and although did power walks and two jogs I couldn't bring myself to do anymore. I just wanted to get home. Going from 35c max to 18c max in 2 days is very hard to get used to. :(

I think I need to buy some winter exercise attire, any suggestions? Eck.

Steps:
7,471
Distance: 4.706km
Calories burnt: 154 cals
Duration: 80 mins

Cheers,
Shannon

It's not funny, it was anxiety++. Haha.

I was hoping Kevin Rudd would be Prime Minister before he was even Opposition Leader, I knew he would be the one to defeat Howard. His removal of the WorkChoices policy, the apology to Indigenous Australians, removing troops from Iraq and signing the Kyoto protocol are a fantastic start.

However, he's similar to Howard on a number of issues, much more conservative than his Labor predecessors.

How do you feel? Haha.

LOL! I agree with you. I didn't like Howard at all. His face reminds me of a cod head...lmao. But that's not the reason I disliked him. :D My political leanings are slightly left of center, so I would naturally lean towards the labour party.

Nice job with the exercise and salmon eating. :)

Hey guys, finally after a few days with a bit of a screwy diet (lack of money to buy everything), it's all back to normal and thus the diary entries start again tomorrow. Pedometer hasn't been working lately either, but I think I fixed it today. Yay.

See you all tomorrow. :)

Here's some of the ab workouts like I promised.

Lay flat on the floor with arms straight down next to your waist/hips. I usually use a medicine or stability ball to hold tightly between my ankles. You can use any ball you like or rest a light weight on top of your ankles for the weight. I do this sometimes with a 10lb dumbell. Raise your feet (holding the ball/weight) about 10-15 inches off the floor (whatever is comfortable for you) and hold it there, you may bend your knees to make it a little easier. Then while keeping your back and neck in line, proceed to do crunches. Try not to bend your neck too far forward or it will hurt like hell later. I used to clasp my hands together under my chin to keep my neck from bending too far. I also pump my hands up and down next to my hips while keeping my arms straight or place them behind my head to help me crunch further. This works your upper (crunches) and lower abs (weight between ankles) at the same time.

You may also keep your upper body on the floor and raise and lower your feet (without touching the floor) with the weight. this works your lower abs.

These are my favorite two ab workouts. Let me search around for some visuals for other workouts. There are some good ones to work the love handles as well.

One banana - 138 cals

Total: 292 cals

Grand Total: 1,333 cals

Exercise

Normal Walking

Steps: 3,740
Distance: 2.36km
Calories burnt: 120 cals

Jog/Exercise

Pedometer is really being stupid, for a 70 min jog/power walk I get a figure of:

Steps:
5,701
Distance: 3.591km
Calories burnt: 183 cals
Duration: 70 mins

Seeing as the fact I power walk on 1,200 (and when I jog i presume it is faster), it would BE at least 7,500-8,000.

Cheers,
Shannon
