Dr. Woodhead's office number is 604-946-6500; he's in Delta which is just south of Vancouver, BC. I've also heard good things about the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Toronto () and Laser Montreal (). Also, check out the Puget Sound Surgical Center in Seattle, as they are supposedly starting a clinical trial on the balloons and looking for participants.

Hope that helps.

Yes, thank you, I will give him a call today.

Nearly Two Months

Hey Everyone,

Hope all is well...I'm nearly two months in, it's gone sooooooooo quick. I have lost just over 2 stone and I'm well chuffed with that. I am finding my hormones are all over the place with it though and although I have lost the weight, I don't feel like I though I would, if that makes sense..ANyone else feeling/felt like this at this stage?

Hi cornishgal
Firstly well done thats brill....
Yes im feeling a bit like that to, I lost 22lb the first couple of weeks when I was so ill, then put 4lb back on when I started to eat which to be honest I expected, but iv lost the 4lb again but stayed the same now for nearly 10 days so a little bit disheartned but hopefully will start loosing again... but like you, I dont feel any different and dont really believe that I have lost the weight, its a real weird feeling.
But hay if its working its fantastic and we can only keep up the good work to see results..
Good luck for the next week
xx:grouphug:

me too

two months in and feel somewhat the same way. I think the weight of the balloon has something to do with it--the stomach always feels a little heavy. And I don't know about anyone else, but I am VERY constipated, which adds to the feeling that I haven't lost much, even though I have lost 25 lbs!

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like it, lol.....Makes me feel better about the whole thing. It's been two months today and I'm really pleased with the weight loss, as I can see it in my clothes too, but just not in my head. I think if I get another stone off, it will probs help...It's been a whole lifestyle change, which has been hard, but needed to be done...I'm hoping to lose about 2lb a week now until it comes out in September, I don't want to lose it too quickly, as it goes back on twice as quick, been there and done that before :ack2:
Can I ask what your starting weights were? You have done soooooo well both of you, I know how hard it is, well done you

Hi,
Yes my starting weight was 13st 7lb and down to 12st now, I had my balloon put in on the 7th of April so im 5 weeks now and me to cant go to the toilet that well either, I have started walking roung a park for an hour most days and I think that is starting to help in the toilet area.....also because I lost a lot the first 2 weeks my fat seemed to go really soft but its toning up again with the walking, I took some very small hand weights today and I can feel it in my arms so hopefully that will help with the old bingo wings ha ha!!!
What were your starting weights girls, and have you any tips regarding food to keep loosing as im stationary at the mo, iv cut down on fats and portion sizes, and not managing fruit to well as getting terrible heart burn and reflux still..
Well bye for now and look forward to having a chat again

For a few weeks recently I hardly posted because I did not want to be a downer, I found that after the inital fast weightloss it slowed down drastically and in fact stopped for over 2weeks, it started up again and now I am losing 1-2pounds a week steadily which will help in keeping it off once the balloon comes out, I was waiting for everyone else to catch up as I was 3 weeks ahead of you all insertion 21/03/09.

Now I am used to automatically eating healthily and eating small satisfying portions and also enjoying the odd treat and not beating myself up. I know how to cheat the balloon but it is only cheating myself so now I dont even bother anymore, I have had family occasions and nights out and I find that the more relaxed you are in your approach to eating and drinking the less likely you are to overdo it.

I notice a marginal difference in my clothes but the belly is bloated from the balloon and I do get constipated even though I drink at least 2litres of water a day, I am now exercising to my wii daily as well as walking with the buggy and I lost 3 pounds last week which i think had something to do with my increased activity level.

This balloon is fantastic if your determined and I am. I started at 14st 11lbs and I am now 13st 7lbs.

I think you are all doing fantastic I wish my loss was as great as yours but a loss is a loss and thats the way I am looking at it.

Dont be disheartened-i feel a bit like that as everyone is losing double what i have in pretty much same amount of time. i got mine done 4th march, i weighed just under 14stone, im now 12 stone 11lbs so lost just over 1 stone. i want to lose another 2 stone and if i keep going the way i am i should be able to in the next 4 months.
i do wonder if im doing something wrong tho as im not losing as fast as everyone else??? i never get any side effects if i over eat, but i know the balloon is still their as i can see it sticking out over my belly button plus its the saline filled one so if it burst i'd have wee'd blue but i havent :smilielol5:
at the end of the day tho, i notice a difference in myself, starting to get a little confidence back.

different opinions...

Hi everyone...
I've been reading this thread and I have found it very useful. I'm booked in next Wednesday for a chat with a doc at the Hospital Group. I have been looking around some other sites and have found lots of info saying that it doesn't really work and that its a waste of money.

My question is.. does the balloon work if you use it as an aid to help you with losing weight rather than expecting it to be a miracle cure?? Or is it a waste of time?

My weight is 14 stone and I would like to get to around 12 stone. Your views would be appreciated. Ta. :willy_nilly:

Yes it does work but not be itself...you need to be focused alonsigside it, have a look at my thread or my blog. I had mines removed last week and lost 35lbs in 6 mths.

hi abi, i started off at 14 stone 2 months ago, i am now down to 12st 11-i still have another 4 months to go. im hoping to be down to 11 stone by then.if i can do it then u can as i have never been able to lose weight before!

i also went with the hospital group and although the procedure went amazingly well and i was well cared for in hospital i have found there after care service pretty poor. i went with them as it was £1000 cheaper but im actually considering paying £750 to national obesity centre to join with there aftercare service.

i wish the balloon was a miracle cos there are times when its so hard to stay on track, i describe the balloon as a tool that helps in your weight loss you have to diet and exercise as normal but as you become fuller on less food it makes the diet process a lot less painful especially if you have always had a big appetite like me, there are days when all u want is junk (thanks pmt) but at the end of the 6 months when you have lost a significant amount of weight you can say it was down to you mostly the balloon just played a supporting role :coolgleamA:

it's a long journey

I started out at 16 stone, 7 lbs. I am now 14 stones after 2 months. I want to lose around 2 lbs a week for the next four months. But it really is just a tool. You can overeat if you really want to, and I find that I really have to exercise to get the weight off. the only thing I absolutely cannot eat is lettuce. It kills me.

(By the way, I am American, so all this "stone" stuff has caused me to have to get out my calculator!)

I finally broke down and used a laxative--my nurse thought it was very funny when I lost another 4 pounds!

Has anyone ever had the balloon topped up?do u know if this is even possible?

my surgeon told me that in italy they allow ur balloon to be removed after 6 months and a new one put in straight away u are obviously paying again for the procedure which is so expensive but i suppose u hope that you learn enough not to have the balloon again after ur 6 months are up.

Yeah i've heard of this too, but i meant the balloon i have in just now, i was wondering if they could add some more saline to it to fill it up a bit. i have 12lbs left to lose and im really struggling with it. i've been the same weight the last 3 weeks, its just not budging. i feel i can eat pretty much anything just now.
how r u getting on?

Gastric Balloon advice

I am brand new to the site and need advice. I have been doing some research the gastric balloon and am thinking about getting the procedure in Prague at Prague Beauty. Has anyone had a gastric balloon procedure there - I have heard varying stories about aftercare in Czech clinics. I have been following an exercise and eating programme for the past 2 months - I have 45kgs still to lose and am really hoping the balloon will be a good kickstart

Hi! I had mine done in Prague with New You, I also looked at Prague Beauty. All I can say is my experience has been great and the people at the clinic were great most of them spoke English even though it was Prague. The after care i am getting right now from New You is exactly the same as what was described to me as on offer from 2 UK clinics i was looking at, just cheaper (it's done by phone and emails). They make you fill out food diaries and exercise diaries and do all the usual weight monitoring stuff and the girl i speak with helps keep me motivated and on track.

btw i was actually going to get the balloon done in the UK because i felt safer, until i read some of the negative stories about after care with UK clinics!!:ack2:
