Gamer Thread

I played one of the later games, was quite good (I think 4 or 5, was on PS2). I watched my uncle play through most of the early PS1 Silent Hills, and yeah, certain things you do may affect the game later on, something to do with your girlfriend dying or something.

Also - in DA2 - why is Fenris such a douche? I mean... rivalry unless you try to blackmail Thrask about his daughter? WTF? How does that fit in with his personality other than fleshing him out as a douche?

You're a mage too? :p

Dragon Age is without a doubt the top of my pile, even though I feel they bungled on a couple of the constructions issues(the techy interface, the limiting world etc)

Since bioware gave me another copy of Mass effect for buying the signature edition of DA I'm going to be restarting that saga next weekend.

To me, DA2 was just rushed to release. It looks half done, and when I first played it I felt more like a beta-tester than an actual player that payed money for playing. Rather disappointing.

I actually saw interviews with people from Bioware who claimed that DA2 wasn't anywhere near ready for release and if it had been up to them, it would have been another 12- 18 months before release. Apparently a lot of content that was supposed to be in DA2 is now going to be in DA3.

They also said that most of the character's storylines had to be cut short and aren't anywhere near in-depths as they should have been, leaving people confused as to certain characters' behaviours. Fenris being on top of that list, and also Anders (who's been completely ruined IMHO).

What bugs me more than anything is that the only way to side with the templars at the end is if you are a mage yourself. Which, of course, makes no sense at all. Unless you are into modding and change the game, it will be pretty darn difficult to get through the end content without a healer, and the only two possible healers are Anders - who won't be with you if you side with the templars, or your sister - who will also refuse to side with you.

And am I the only one who sat there thinking 'Uhm, that was it? What was the point?' once the end credits rolled??

Google Zero Punctuation and Dragon Age 2, has an awesome review of it.

And yeah, I played a mage ;) I still haven't beat it, but I heard so much of what happened with my hubby playing it... I'll get around to it one of these days?

I love yahtzee's work.

and I agree with how unfinished DA2 is, it's not bad enough for me to dislike the franchise though, but maybe that's just blatant gamer loyalty. :p

I don't dislike the franchise, however if I could only buy Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age 3, it wouldn't even be a contest ;)

It's a shame too, because the demo for DA2 seemed sooooo awesome. I just hope that Bioware doesn't get super rushed to put out Mass effect 3 before it's finished. I know they take their time, but dammit it's worth it!

Check it out, new DNF trailer (search for "Duke Nukem Forever Shrinkage" on youtube)! Who cares about some minor glitches here and there, it looks like a lot of fun!

I just started playing spiral knights about 10 minutes ago. Seems okay. Not sure how much more I want to play it though. Anyone else?
Oh.. did I mention, it's free to play?

I played Wow for 6 months, but got tired of it. I don't like the way previous content is completely ignored the second a new patch comes out.
I guess that's how they make money though. It was great while it lasted.
I also got tired of the NERFS!
It was SO lame how blizzard would nerf classes, instead of doing small tweaks to adjust the game. It really pissed a lot of folks off.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that's a pretty stupid thing to do.
Right now... I'm waiting for the next game that I can really get into.
Guild Wars 2, maybe? don't know.

I've been playing WoW since the alpha taste phase. I quit for good at the beginning of 2011, when there was really nothing left for me to enjoy. The game had turned into more of a job, with me having to participate in raids that I didn't want to be in because we had a shortage of healers, and, without wanting to blow my own trumpet, I was the only half way decent healer available. With the changes to healers and the entire game that were made in Cataclysm, I finally had enough and cancelled my account.

Been playing several different things since, mainly Mass Effect 1 + 2, and I gave 'The Witcher 2' a go, but felt rather disappointed after all the hype. Also tried Fable 3, but a problem with save games makes it impossible to get anywhere in the game. :(...so, waste of money on that part. Now waiting for Diablo 3 and Mass Effect 3.

I used to be a huge gamer but it has died down a lot into me. I used to crave the adrenaline from the competition. But I've been finding ways to fill this void. Mostly by working out! :D

But yeah I guess I started playing console games. Had an SNES when I was just a kid and played Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country 1+2, Star Fox, Double Dragon and Mega Man(can't remember which one). I still think DKC1+2 where two of the best single player games of all time.

Anyways I didn't really get any console besides SNES, but my friend got an N64 so we played Super Smash Brothers, Mario Cart 64, Golden Eye; all the classics. He also got a Xbox where we played Halo CE and Halo 2 a lot.

I moved more into PC gaming though, playing Age of Empires as a kid and then moving into Half life, Doom and then onto Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne. Which eventually lead me into DotA. I played DotA a lot and for a number of years. It was so much fun, and the game was always evolving and improving. My brother bought a Xbox 360 so I got into Halo 3 pretty intensely, loved that game. ODST and Reach don't compare to Halo 3 at all, IMO. I continued to play DotA, but less and less as years went on.

Finally I moved onto WoW. I played WoW on and off for about 2 years. I have a max level rogue but it was too much of a time sink. I actually really don't like the game anymore. I tried the 7 day free trial again but had no fun playing. It's a lot of fun when you put the time into it, but I don't think the time sink is worth it overall.

Currently I play mostly League of Legends, when I feel like it. It's a fun game to play with friends and it doesn't require a huge amount of time. You can play when you want! Since I played DotA for so many years I feel I'm pretty decent. If you're interested, I like to play a variety of champions but I'd say my mains are Jarvan IV, Miss Fortune, and Lux.

Anyways, I plan on picking up DotA 2 when it comes out. Currently I'll admit LoL is a better game than DotA. It is much more streamlined for casual players and I miss the high skill cap of DotA but LoL just has so many features that make it a better game. Reconnect, matchmaking, ranked ladders, the ability to make a game with your friends without having any hassle, and the fact that they have a full team working on it makes it a huge improvement over DotA at the moment. If DotA 2 implements all of the features LoL has introduced, as well as keeping the DotA game play, I think it will surpass LoL. I'm excited to see how it does.

Anyways, that's my little history of gaming. I play a lot less video games than I have in the past but I still enjoy playing them when I do.

Hi all!

I'm a xbox 360 girl. Really love it. Just recently got into the achievement aspect of it and it's addicting!

Just finished playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. That was an awesome game.

If anyone is up for a really great wrestling game I recommend WWE Allstars. That game is fantastic. Arcade type feel, with over the top moves and wrestlers who look like they're on steriods! One of the best wrestling games out there.
