I used to be a huge gamer but it has died down a lot into me. I used to crave the adrenaline from the competition. But I've been finding ways to fill this void. Mostly by working out!
But yeah I guess I started playing console games. Had an SNES when I was just a kid and played Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country 1+2, Star Fox, Double Dragon and Mega Man(can't remember which one). I still think DKC1+2 where two of the best single player games of all time.
Anyways I didn't really get any console besides SNES, but my friend got an N64 so we played Super Smash Brothers, Mario Cart 64, Golden Eye; all the classics. He also got a Xbox where we played Halo CE and Halo 2 a lot.
I moved more into PC gaming though, playing Age of Empires as a kid and then moving into Half life, Doom and then onto Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne. Which eventually lead me into DotA. I played DotA a lot and for a number of years. It was so much fun, and the game was always evolving and improving. My brother bought a Xbox 360 so I got into Halo 3 pretty intensely, loved that game. ODST and Reach don't compare to Halo 3 at all, IMO. I continued to play DotA, but less and less as years went on.
Finally I moved onto WoW. I played WoW on and off for about 2 years. I have a max level rogue but it was too much of a time sink. I actually really don't like the game anymore. I tried the 7 day free trial again but had no fun playing. It's a lot of fun when you put the time into it, but I don't think the time sink is worth it overall.
Currently I play mostly League of Legends, when I feel like it. It's a fun game to play with friends and it doesn't require a huge amount of time. You can play when you want! Since I played DotA for so many years I feel I'm pretty decent. If you're interested, I like to play a variety of champions but I'd say my mains are Jarvan IV, Miss Fortune, and Lux.
Anyways, I plan on picking up DotA 2 when it comes out. Currently I'll admit LoL is a better game than DotA. It is much more streamlined for casual players and I miss the high skill cap of DotA but LoL just has so many features that make it a better game. Reconnect, matchmaking, ranked ladders, the ability to make a game with your friends without having any hassle, and the fact that they have a full team working on it makes it a huge improvement over DotA at the moment. If DotA 2 implements all of the features LoL has introduced, as well as keeping the DotA game play, I think it will surpass LoL. I'm excited to see how it does.
Anyways, that's my little history of gaming. I play a lot less video games than I have in the past but I still enjoy playing them when I do.
