Gamer Thread

Woah loads of posts! :D

Yayyy! A nerd! :grouphug:

How are you finding New Vegas? Really want it but heard it's very similar to first and second and that all the problems that they said they'd address from the previous 2 haven't been addressed in the new one either. Still want it though!

And you're a FF person! My boyfriend has played all of them (and has all the toys, been to all the conventions--uberrrr nerd) but I've only played 7 and 10.

Think the 3DS is like £250..Pretty much a months rent for me. Can't justify it!!

Adore Silent Hill but it's SO scary. Seriously. Even the old school graphics don't make it any less creepy!!

New Vegas...I think Daybehavior pretty much summed up how I feel about it. I like playing it...until it glitches...I had a major one last week lost about an hours worth of gaming and I haven't played it since lol!

Wow all of them :O! I've played 3,6,7,8,10 and 12 nearly all haha...avoided 13 because all of my friends were saying it was awful....I am looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus 13 though, PS3 exculsive although I have no idea when that's going to come out.

The Last Guardian trailer looks awesome :O!!!

Yeah, FF, you either love it or hate it, there's no middle ground ;)
I also like manga *swears she's not a weeaboo*
I like anime and manga...and I'm not a weeaboo either lol!

Here's a good question to stir the pot a bit, and get this conversation going. How do you stop gaming? How do you know when you've crossed the line between having it be something you enjoy to having it be an addiction? How much is too much - especially when it starts effecting the relationships you have with other people? How many hours a week would you say is reasonable play time for an avid gamer, before it turns to addiction???

I have no idea...I used to play a lot when I was at college/university, I play a lot less now I work full time, go to the gym, see friends, go out at night and stuff...my priorities kinda changed - but I still have time that I put aside for gaming - usually with friends! We play a few hours a week and on the weekends, and then I play on my own maybe 2-3 hours in the week...no where near what I used to do...I don't think I could ever stop gaming. Ever! :D

FF 13 wasn't bad, they just had some stupid decisions in the system. ... I can't get to the next 'tier' of development until I beat the game? And then I'm supposed to come back and beat up on some super hard optional bosses to get loot that... I can't even use to beat the game?!

I thought the story in 13 was more interesting than 12, and I say that in part because I just never cared enough about the characters in 12 to finish it ;)

The thing I hated about 13 most was the voice acting. It was just terrible. Wish there was an option for subtitles or to mute them completely. Really ruined the experience for me!

I love video games :) I just wish I had the money to buy new games lol I'm super excited for Portal 2 to come out! And Duke Nukem!

Has anyone played Bulletstorm?

Bulletstorm is a First Person Shooter. Bulletstorm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't like FPS at all, so I don't know much about it to be honest.

I just started to play Mass Effect, which is....uhm....interesting. Let's put it this way. I saw a lot of people mentioning it on the DA forums, so I thought I'd give it a try. Honestly not sure if I like it yet.

As for playR....talk about a blast from the past!!! :)

I just started playing Deathspank! If you like the style of humor from The Tick, you'll definetly enjoy this. It's mostly about the comedy, gameplay is so-so, but is a bit challenging at times. Quests are mostly pretty easy, but not always 100% obvious. There's a lot of review on youtube if you're interested.

Are there any other gamers out there that are old enough to have experienced Duke Nukem 3D back in the days? What do you think of upcoming Duke Nukem Foreverer will it be a success or a flop? I hope it will be fun but I'm afraid it will be a disaster :(.

I think DNF will be, after many years of waiting, just 'ehh' for most people. I mean, we've been waiting for how long now, 13 years?

Ohh, and gamer here b.t.w. I'm early in Mass Effect...never got to play it though I beat the sequel when it came out...odd duck huh?

Played thru all the Assassin's Creeds...waiting for the "3rd" game to come out.

Lots of others.....I don't trade in games...just build up huge collections...Still have dreamcast, x-box, x-box 360, and a Wii

The Duke franchise has always managed to come out on top.
I don't see why this one will be any different.
Why be pessimistic?

Ahhh, I'm home! :grouphug:

Between my brother and I, we had every gaming console, ever. Even pong. No kidding. And luckily a married a nerd so my gaming continues =]

My favorites have always been pc games. I love the Sims! But now have been playing World of Warcraft for almost 2 yrs. I <3 this game so much!

I've also recently tried League of Legends but I'm not too crazy about it.

My DSi is where I get my mystery solving quenched.

I hope the new one will be ok, I remember having to get a copy of Duke 3D brought back from the UK by a friend to get around the stupid censorship they added to the game here in Aus when it was released.

Well let's hope that DNF will be as enjoyful as DN 3D was but I'll most probably have to upgrade my system with both a new graphics card and PSU to be able to fully enjoy the game. An upgrade for one game only, I don't care that much about other newer games around. Well if Max Payne 3 comes out any time soon that will make it two.

I remember playing on it way back when, I've seen the trailer for Duke Nukem Forever and it looks hilarious and a lot of fun lol - although I won't know what it's really like until I play I guess...I can't believe how long it's taken them to get this game released.

Never played Duke Nukem unfortunately. :(

Just picked a copy of Fable:The lost chapters up. Didn't even know they had released that for the PC, when I first played it it was all for the old XBox.

Still waiting for Fable 3, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 3....what's with all the 3s??? *lol*

Oh, and I think I'm well and truly over WoW. About 4 months WoW free now, and not missing it one bit.

Fable 3 is pretty decent. I never played much of the other two so haven't got much to compare it to. I really enjoyed it though..You can do all the main missions pretty quickly but there is plenty of side-stuff to do. And the outfits are AWESOME!

I don't have it yet, PC release is not until the end of May. *grumblegrumble* Since the money situation doesn't allow getting games consoles, I just have to sit here and wait while everybody else is playing it already. Not fair!!!! *pout*

I loved the fable games

the problem is that they're never what is promised, "a world in which every decision you make can affect the world and will affect your appearance" BUt it always turns out to just be one great big slider from Evil to Good, without any real depth and "you can't pick that hairstyle because you're not evil enough"

I don't think DN forever can flop as such, because the criterion of judgement is already completely different, it doesn't have to be great as long as it keeps poking fun at itself.

who picked up MK?

Massive gamer here since I remember (Sega Genesis was my first console). My fave genres are RPGs and Fighters. At the moment I don't play many current gen games. Kind of disappointing since I used to love video games, I really need to get back into it. Games I play today are ; Starcraft 2, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV. That's really it heh. Aint played a goof RPG in ages but was an RPG enthusiast (one of the people who aims for 100% in games, 200+ hours, sort of thing @_@)

Got a YouTube page where I post some stuff, 90% is video game stuff, fighting game matches, game playthroughs, combos, tutorials, everything :)

Peace

Yeah, Fable had the right idea, but it didn't go deep enough. Games like DragonAge and Mass Effect are more in-depth in that aspect, where decisions you make really do affect the entire story-line, open up new quests and even abilities depending on how good/evil you are.

Did anybody ever play Silent Hill? I heard that it's good, and another one of those games where 'every decision you make influences how the story continues', but I never found anybody who has actually played it.
