G8r80 and GT2003: onward!

Popping in to see how its going lads! Looking good!

Keep your motherf**king sh1t going!!!!!!

Thanks Tom! When are we gonna see you on a triathlon course?

5 minutes fast walk, 4mph
18 minutes run, 8:57 pace
5minutes fast walk, 4mph
Ran without socks (forgot them). Big mistake but I wouldn't let myself quit early! Wounds should heal by tomorrow!

10 minutes stairmaster

10 minutes stationary bike

Total cardio for the day, 1 hour 33 minutes! A new personal best. Although, I will only be impressed when I do it in one session. I should get my chance tomorrow night.

16 miles on bike, 19.0 mph avg. 5k run - 10:30 pace. Felt fine on the bike but terribly sluggish on the run.

Today, the good:

5x4 chinups. A new LLPB for me! I am definitely making progress here.
10x3 bodyweight dips: These didn't seem as hard as before either.
Standing cable flies: 10x4 with a higher weight than before. Again, improvement

The bad:

The weight room stuff really sucked the life out of me. I struggled after every 200 yards in the pool and ran out of time after only 1000 yards, when I planned on doing 1 mile. IOme 800 yards. Later at night, 2.1 miles at 9:00 pace. Shins started hurting, something they haven't done in months.

The ugly:

My weight was 203 after breakfast:eek: But, I still wear my 33 pants comfortably and my circumference around my belly button is unchanged at 37", so maybe it's 10 pounds of muscle added? (fingers crossed).

I hate listening to my body. I was really craving 90+ continuous minutes of cardio today. But, when I woke up this morning my legs were shot. My guess is it was the stairmaster that I threw in my cardio for some reason last night. It still causes my right quad to cramp no matter what. If I had stuck to the bike and treadmill I bet I would have been fine.

I stuck strictly with weights tonight which is good because I've been semi-neglecting weights recently. I did 45 minutes of a full upper body workout (remember, legs are shot). I wanted to run so badly but walked by the treadmill on the way out knowing that tomorrow is a new day and a new cardio opportunity.

Off to dinner tonight. Nutrition still staying where it should. Weights coming off slowly but it's coming off. That's it for now. Talk to you later, Greg

2600 calories today which is a lot compared to what I'm used to eating. Still maintenance though so life is good!

No workout at all today. Right leg (teardrop) still extremely sore but less so than yesterday. It is the exact same place that cramps when I do the stairmaster. So, stairmaster is out as a form of cardio. I'll stick with biking and running for now with swimming as an option.

Tomorrow I am going to do a mock run of the 5k I'm running on December 20th. There is a large hill about 1/2 mile or so in and I'm going to run it tomorrow just so I'll know what I'm getting into. That's the plan for now. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Talk to you later, Greg

FIRST DAY WITHOUT, I REPEAT, WITHOUT BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE!!!!!

My blood pressure is still running 110-116/60-70 and my pulse rate this morning was 47. This is after cutting my bp medicine in half a few weeks ago. I have been experiencing some light headedness, especially when changing position from sitting to standing etc (? orthostatic hypotension). So, today I stopped taking it (I was only on 1/2 of a pill once a day so I've tapered slowly). I have access to a bp monitor all the time at work and at home too. I will keep a close eye on it and if it gets out of range (over 130/80) I will resume the 1/2 tablet each day. I will also likely see my physician today and will run this by him to make sure its OK.

This is a very exciting time for me. When I got on the medicine I was drinking beer 3-5 days/wk, probably 6-9 beers per night. If I had to guess, this is what is called alcohol induced hypertension/tachycardia. I rarely drink anymore, exercise regularly, eat much better, have lost around 35 pounds and voila, my bp and heart rate are back to normal.

I just had to share this as this was/is one of my goals for 2009!

Greg, that's a great bp and rhr. You should be proud of yourself!

Thanks G8R. I'm more glad than proud. I knew I had it in me, I just had to get it to come out. This possible divorce has brought me to a lot of realizations. All of which I will grow from and become a better person in the process whether things work out or not.

Nice run after work today and a pretty good pace. I don't have a watch or anything but I figure a 10 minute pace or a bit better.

I'm running a 5k in 2 weeks. There is a decent sized hill towards the start of it. So, I figured I was in town anyway so why not run the route. I ran what I think is the entire race without much trouble, 3.2 miles per "mapmyrun.com".

The 1st mile always seems the hardest. After that I seem to settle into "run mode" and just go and go. I really kicked it hard the last couple of hundred yards. My lungs were giving me the good burn when I finally stopped to walk it out.

I've felt really good today without my blood pressure medicine. No lightheadedness etc. So, maybe that's been the trouble. Although, I'm kind of hesitant to check it now since I just ran a few hours ago. Probably over concerned but I'll check it a little later in the evening. Take care and we'll talk to you all later, Greg

25.5 miles on bike, 18.5 mph avg., 1:23 time

This will be a very hard week for me. I have to drive 1+ hour each way and work Monday through Saturday. I will try to get some stuff done in the evenings, but it will be tough going.

Blood pressure still pretty good, 120/80 just now.

No weights today, just cardio. And, I DID MY 90 MINUTES CONTINUOUS!!!

Treadmill 5 minutes, 4 mph pace
Treadmill 5 minutes, 4.5 mph pace
Recumbent stationary bike, 1 hour 10 minutes
Treadmill 10 minutes, 6 mph pace (1 mile)

Weights tomorrow along with a 2 mile run at a 9 minute pace followed by biking for a while I'm sure.

206 lbs this morning. On my way to below 200 but I'm doing it the right way so NO WORRIES!!!!

Greg, I'm so happy for you!!!! Are you not taking any BP meds now?

If I were you, I'd be thinking this was a pretty good early Xmas present ;)

No blood pressure meds for now. I am keeping a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't creep back up. I want to keep it at least 130/80 or below, preferably lower. I have noticed a slight increase as the bp meds clear out of my system. So, hopefully I don't have to go back on any of it. I'll keep a close eye on it and report my progress. Bottom line: I'd rather be off of it but not if my bp isn't in perfect control.

Hey, anybody seen my partner? Someone please check on him. Thanks!

5 sets bench press 155 pounds, sets of 6-10
3 sets tricep pushdowns
2 sets overhead dumbbell tricep extensions
2 light sets reverse grip tricep extensions (really hit the outer head nicely)

Cardio:

4 minutes warm up on treadmill, approx. 3.5 mph

51 minutes, yes, count 'em, 51 minutes on treadmill at a 10 minute pace. That's over 5 miles to you and me. Never done that before!!!!

3 minutes cool down 4.5 mph
2 minutes cool down 4 mph

1 hour total cardio. 10 minute mile pace felt excellent. Could have gone longer if I had wanted to but don't want to push it too far.

Blood pressure: 112/72

Hope you're on board cuz this train ain't stoppin for nobody my friends!!!
