From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

NiCe on the wall chart.

Fish loaf does sound interesting. I can't stand fish :-/ ikky but I know it's good for us

Sun and Nostalgic I assume most people would be grossed out by it. If you like canned sardines or herring it is much less fishy than eating them plain. It's healthy protein and fats in and can be a complete meal which makes it easier in the field and to count the calories. I won't be logging the food here as I've started using my app again.

I ate 2,296 today which is 96 over which is fine. I'm hopin to be back in te 3teens in the morning due in part to corrected digestive issues. I went fishing with my nephew today which was walking around a pond. Just the easy kind of activity I needed.

Tonight my wife and I are starting a 1 to 100 bodyweight squats challenge. 1 tonight, 2 the next day, 3 etc. up to 100. They can be done in sets as the numbers get higher. Those of you wondering 1- 100 makes for a total of 5,050 squats. It should be a good way to stretch the sciatic nerve and maintain muscles and flexibility.

n(n+1)/2 for those interested in the calc.

I'm feeling much better today. I came in at 318.4 this morning. I'm happy to be back in the 3teens today and I will keep things headed in the right direction. Specialist is tomorrow morning. I've already done my 2 body squats. I should have made this a challenge, but anyone that wants to join me it would be fun to keep up with somebody here.

Loving the 1-100 body squats challenge.
I would be happy to do it with you but I need to wait a bit. I'm disappointed I can't and will def do this once I get the ok from the doctor.
I'm forbidden any exercise like that for at least one to two months since I just gave birth.

Well done on the 3teens, love that name!

I went over yesterday by about 150. I'll rverse that trend today and make up for the extra 250 calories I've had over the last two days. I see the specialist today. I'm feeling worse today. Likely that is partly due to the lack of sleep I got last night. It suffices to say that I have a fair amount of anxiety about this visit. All Dr. visits stress me out, but knowing this is a back surgeon makes it worse. I also have a bill for 7x the agreed amount for the MRI that I have to resolve today.

And it 103 degrees...big fun! Oh well, my sons started football yesterday at least those days are behind me.

I think they might as well just put us out of our misery now, Q :smash:

The doctor freaks me out too--find it very stressful. Don't like being poked and prodded :ack2:

I'm waiting for an MRI too. The NHS is slow as shit but free so I can't complain. I wouldn't be able to afford health care if I lived in America. My other half's mom has cancer and she can't afford her health insurance anymore and has been told she has 6 months worth of treatment left and then they're cutting her off. It's just crazy.

Anyway--let us know how you get on my darlin'. Hopefully you're heading towards some sort of conclusion to all this xx

Just thinking about 2 a days makes me queasy. As hot as it is right now we are still getting lows in the 70s at night which is very mild for August and we've just now started to have consistent 100 plus temps. A mild summer by East Texas standards, but it doesn't make >100 degrees feel any cooler during the day.

Thanks Sunflower! I got the MRI that's why I have to see the specialist. The assholes at the MRI place told me it would be $535 if I didn't use my insurance (> $1600 if I did) and paid in full so that's what I did. Now I get a bill saying I owe an additional $3,500 for the MRI and I had to pay another $300 for the radiologist which wasn't even mentioned before. This has been a problem since May so don't think they move with any quickness here either.

Hey good luck at the specialists. I love your squats challenge. I recently started a push up plan but once i'm done with that i'll look into squats :)

Interesting seeing someone else's data on my model.

Because of the odd way I did my weigh-ins (I didn't really have a functional scale until a month into the weight loss process), I don't have any data before day 33 on my model, so I don't know how well the model does in the first few weeks. Their might be some funny stuff mathematically as you first start out. The shape looks right though: nearly linear short term, with a noticeable flattening of the slope long term.

Thanks for the well wishes Cory and Angel! Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the squats today because of the pain. I will see if I am up to it tonight, but I almost fell in the floor thjis morning trying one.

MrVee it does look good so far on the graph, but I will likely be in an odd place for at least a week as I have been given a large dose of corticosteriods via injection and put on a high dose week long pill steroid as well. Increased appetite and weigh gain is just what I need in my life.

The gist of the visit. I have a severe herniation of the disc that is adjacent to my sciatic nerve. Almost all of the soft material is engulfing the sciatic nerve instead of being inside the disc where it belongs.

Aside from the steroids I have 3x a week physical therapy scheduled for 6 weeks. If that + steroids doesn't work it will be a site injection of steroids directly to the herniated area. If that doesn't work then surgery. Losing the weight is my best bet aside from the treatments.

He said I am done with powerlifting for life. No more deadlifts or squats. The disc directly above the herniated disc is bulging and since I have little cushioning in the vertebra below it the likelihood is greater that I could herniate that disc with heavy lifting.

He says there is hope for avoiding surgery and the steroids may make me feel better by tomorrow. Or they might not and I may exhaust my options and need surgery.

I got to see my MRI which was neat. Lets hope the steroids help.

Hope the steroids help, and you'll be pain free real soon.

Just remember not to participate in any activity in which drugtesting is involved, USDA might come after you ;)

I really hope the steroids help and I'm really sorry about you being unable to power lift. My brother is into it and I've learned from him that most of the people who get into it are REALLY into it, so I hate to think that you've lost something you love. :[

Physical therapy will hopefully work. It helped me a lot.

Thanks Guideon, I'll never make the majors now.

Cory, I'm pretty bummed and a bit at a loss for what to do with all my equipment. Over the years I have aquired 3 olympic bars, built a lifting platform for overhead lifts, a deadlift platform for dealifts, and I constructed a power rack within my shed. I can do upper body work but the set up is super overkill. At this point I can't even move the weights out if I wanted to or load the bar for upper body work.

Most of the set came from a guy in Seattle that sold it super cheap so it would be gone before he got off bed rest from a hip replacemet. Ahhh Hindsight.

Got my 3 squats done. I ate too much tonight, the roids are making me starving. Just a few days and I'll try to fight it. I just hope it makes me feel better and then I can diet and exercise. The physical therapy is only availible during work hours which makes me have to take time off 18 times and schedule work around it.

Well, results are better than no results I guess. It must feel good to have a solid diagnosis at least. I really hope you see some improvement with the steroids. Do they have any side-effects (apart from making you hungry!). Is the increased appetite something that's worrying you? xx

Hi Sun! The steroids kept me up most of the night. I felt sleepy all evening, but when I laid down my heartbeat started racing and I was agitated and wide awake for hours. I am also experiencing swelling. These are all normal side effects for the dosage they have me on. I avoided the scale between eating too much and the swelling I couldn't handle the number. I'll likely stay off the scale while on this stuff. Luckily it is just a few days. My back does feel better this morning and I did my 4 squats this morning.
