Finding Myself in Me

A Flash of Dominance

So last night I went to the gym and did my workout.

1. 1st Pitiful attempt @ jumping rope for 3 min
2. 3x8 each side - single arm dumbell press (floor to ceiling) - 15 lb
3. 3x8 dumbell curls - 15 lb
4. 3x8 tricep reverse extention - 15 lb
5. 3x8 upright seated leg press - 90 lb
6. 2nd pitiful attempt @ jumping rope for 3 min
7. 3x8 each side - weighted side bends - 15 lb
8. lunges - 30 - no weight
9. 3x8 tricep press down (with rope) - 20 lb
10. 3x8 longbar curls - 2 sets 30 lb, 1 set 20 lb

and man, I was busting through this routine, too. Had a good sweat going, was feeling the burn and was focused on form.

At the end of my workout, i'm over by the weight tree doing the longbar curls and 2 guys come over. One gets set to do bench presses (guy 1) and the other (guy 2) picks up an ez-curl bar to do concentration curls on the curl bench, but he's standing on the wrong side.

Here's the conversation:

Guy 2. I don't know how to do this.
Guy 1. Stand on the other side.
Guy 2. What?
Me. put your body on the flat side and your arms over the angled side to pull your weights up.
Guy 1. (laughing at guy 2) - you need to be smarter than the machine.
Me. (to both of them)... no gentlemen... you need to be as smart as the girl ..LOL

Weights are not for sissy bags.
Jumping rope isn't either...hehe

My suggestion: switch from isolation exercises to compound exercises (e.g, lunges, squats, bench press, assisted pullups, assisted dips, pushups). They work more of the body and speed up your metabolism more.

ok...well..

I have done everything you've suggested except the assisted dips, but i have no doubt they will eventually end up somewhere down the road...

If you wish to post suggestions in my journal, please read it first.. no spam allowed here..
hehehe ;)

However, if you do wish to spam in my journal, the following is acceptable, but please.... dress like a Viking when doing it..hahahaha

"Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam..."

Sometimes I need to remember Thumper... or not... :)

SO... for all you fit freaks who live for lifting (haha), I have discovered my current new benchpress max weight.

A whopping total 75lbs!

For some of you, this is nothing, but for me; this is important ~~ especially since i have not done much benching... ever...

Today I rode...hard... in heat that felt hotter than satan's ass crack (little over 10 miles i think).

Tomorrow i go see the surgeon about this tumor/mass. I will find out when my surgery is going to take place. And, since I still don't know if it's a hernia or a lipoma, my guess is the surgery is going to be called "exploratory" until he sees inside.

What i do know is that i want it out and over with so I can get back to some sense of normalcy.

Yes, yes... a stretch i know, but hey... it's a goal.. LOL

Date Set

July 20th is the date I'll be having surgery.

So... between now and then, the plan is:

work
sweat
sweat more
sweat a lot more
and have fun as much as possible

:)

7/7 - Leg night

So yeah... it was leg night...

15 min on an elliptical - 9-10-11 intensity level & 8-9 elevation
3x8 leg extension - 80lb
3x8 hammie curl - 80 lb
3x8 front squat (guided) - 55 lb
3x8 back squat (guided) - 55 lb
3x8 calf raise - 35 lb
3x8 hip adductor machine - 100 lb
3x8 hip abductor machine - 100 lb
15 min on elliptical - "variety" setting... frontwards/backwards/uphill/downhill

Worked up a good sweat and kept it up the entire time.

All in all a good night :)

put more weight on the calves

what happened to the 5 min cardio in the middle of your workout? Remeber the superwoman feeling!

ditch the hammie curl and the leg extensions

change to 2 (front and back) sets of guided squats with 2 (front and back) sets totally free

with the weeks of machine curls and extensions, I think you have developed enough muscle for some stability now.

I will come help you next week.

Great work staying the course

Slotted Spoons

Guess it's a good thing I know how to wield these...

I stirred some ish tonight... and no doubt will be catching some heat for it.

Oh well.. my thought process was like this..

The public can go "F" itself
I am important
Bring on the next experience... i dare ya.

“The obstacles you face are... mental barriers which can be broken by adopting a more positive approach.”

I firmly believe that one has to have the cognitive ability to recognize the internal mental power to overcome personal weaknesses.

Let me give you an example:

If willpower lacks on a given day, pull from your passion to overcome the weakness in willpower.

If motivation is lacking on a given day, pull from your desire and a little from passion to overcome the weakness in motivation (Mental carry over effects).

If Passion is lacking on a given day, then pull from a stronger mental power, like willpower, and let this cover for the weakness in passion. There are many other combination's. Do what it takes to stimulant your strength to overcome any weaknesses that develop.

Reach up and pull it down, become a counsel to your own personal internal crown, and it will shine bright all around.

You have heart. You have the right attitude. You will go far.

Peace and much success your way.

7/12 Sweat action

The route was unknown... kind of like a "follow your nose" and see where you end up ride..LOL

Ended up doing 14.25 miles... rode out to the beach and back home... almost got hit 3 separate times and kicked 1 of the cars.. (dumba$$)...

Then got back to the house and spent a good 30 min trying to jump rope for 3 solid min...I sucked.. :p I'll get the rhythm eventually because i am NOT going to let it best me.

(no...no pushups were done although I probably could have done 50 or more..LOL )
