Dog Walkers Club

Ok, I've realized that I need to reset my goals for walking Kali. My schedule has changed, as has the weather, so things are a bit different than my first ideal walking schedule. It helps me to set these things so that I have something to strive for. So this is the new one:

Monday: Short walk in the evening if possible - most likely not
Tuesday: Walk to the park - 2 miles
Wednesday: 2 mile run
Thursday: Run to park (1 mile) walk in park (1 mile) - 2 miles
Friday: 3 mile run
Saturday: Walk to park - 2 miles
Sunday: Hopefully hiking, but I'm not sure

So my plan is down to 11 miles a week (from 15 when it was cooler and I had more time!). I'll work up to the running since I haven't run with her in many weeks. But I'll still be going the same distance.

And Kali is going in to get microchipped soon. This is my tip of the week (what happened to those?). It's only about $50 and it ensures that even if your dog is lost with no collar, a vet/shelter can identify you as an owner and you will get your pooch back!

We went to the park today - 2 mile walk. I heard a painted bunting - a really pretty and rare bird. I didn't get to see it, just heard the beautiful music!

And then I had to run to work for a bit. It's a mile from home, so I walk. When I go in on the weekends, I take Kali with me. So she got another 2 miles!

So a total of 4 miles for us today, for a new total of 123.9 miles!

-Tink: How about bringing a skateboard or wagon so you can pull him when he tuckers out? LOL![/FONT]

A fine idea!! altho my arms have been getting a decent workout lifting the heavy little puglet!

Madness - sorry Kali is injured again...poor little thing. Microchipping is a great idea, we did that to ramble as soon as we got him. Means that if he ever gets lost there is a record of exactly who he should be returned to!

So the laziness has subsided and energetic pug has returned! No need for a skateboard today - he was zooming abt the park like a pug possessed!:auto:

Sat miles - 1
Sun miles - 2

So a new total of 126.9 miles :)

Here is my dog! Her name is Canela and she is about 4 years old.

This is a cool thread, I'm hoping that walking Canela will also help me to stay physically active :Angel_anim:

Today I took her on a 1 mile walk.

Welcome to the club JulianaRose! Your cinnamon pooch is quite a cutie! Just add your miles to the running total - we are currently trying to get to NY by the 4th of July - that's 155 miles. So your mile added to the total gives us a new total of 127.9 miles!

Sunday, we went out just to get Kali out of the house - it was a busy day and not much time. So we just went 0.4 miles.

Today, I took her on the 3 mile circuit, but she was falling farther and farther behind me. She has stopped limping (again) and I don't want to push her to the point where she re-injures herself (again!) so we cut it short - 2.4 miles.

So that's 2.8 miles and a new total of 130.7 miles!

We are darn close to New York!!! Can we really get 25 miles in the next 4 days? I'm in for 9 miles!

Hell yeah we can!!

Ok today was only 1.2 miles so new total of 131.9 miles

Im in for 2 miles tomorrow and 4 miles each day wed, thur....we could well do it!! NY here we come!!

Alright! So Tink pledges 10 miles. Added to my 9, we still need someone to pledge at least 4 miles and probably some more in case something comes up for Tink or I. Yarmiah? Where have you been girl?

It's been raining and I took Kali to the park today. Oh boy, did she LOVE the mud puddles. She threatened to make me carry her the half mile home!

2 miles today, for a new total of 133.9 miles!

I had a great time this morning - my fiance came on the walk with us. He used to work nights so I never got to spend time with him in the morning. He is slowly adjusting his schedule and we got up at the same time and even had breakfast together (probably the first time in 6 months)! So the walk was awesome. He's a slow walker so it wasn't as a good a workout as if it had just been me and Kali, but it was more fun!

So 2 miles added for a new total of 137.9 miles! We really are going to make it!

The weather has been so uncooperative lately. Despite a few hiccups in the weather, I have walked my two companions 8 miles. In the past week we have had to sit three days out due to storms. Oh yes, and I do promise to get pictures, soon!

Total: 145.9 miles

Well, we "had" to go to the liquor store last night, so I demanded that we walk there. I took Kali too (and had to wait outside) so we added an extra 1.6 miles yesterday.

And then today we FINALLY went jogging. Ran the 0.6 miles to the park and then walked through the park for 0.8 miles and then ran home - which is uphill...why can't the uphill part be int he beginning?!?! So 2 miles total today!

That's 3.6 miles for a new total of 149.5 miles! Soooo close!

We've been walking the dog pretty reularly with the nice weather. This week I was waiting for a music shipment so Jack and I would walk down to check the mail early (1.2 miles) and then take dad along for another walk after dinner. :)

So...this week, we have walk 4.8 miles after dinner, plus 3.6 miles on mail checks for a total of 8.4 miles.

As requested, here are pictures of my pack!

Presenting at the adoption day before my mother conned me into rescue!

six days later, at the vet. I am in love with his Basset Hound ears.

And finally, a picture of both my babies together. Presenting .

And once again, the stupid rain prevented a walk today. However, I was able to squeeze one in with my mother yesterday for a steady two mile gain.

145.9 + 8.4 (from JudyB) + 2 = 156.3 MILES

Holy schnikes, we made it! Break out the pots and pans! Time to celebrate!

Awesome work everyone! I have a few extra to add as well!

2 more miles and we have 158.3 miles!p

And those are some cute pups Word! Mr Stubby looks WAY happier in the second picture after he was adopted!

Kali got another short walk yesterday - a mile.

And today we ran for a mile and walked a mile. And I'm tired!

So another 3 miles for a new total of 161.3 miles!

Our next goal is 219 miles to Hardford, CT. That's only 60 miles away. Can we do that in a month? My goal is for at least 10 miles a week. So I bet we can do this by the end of July. Let's give it a shot!

Yesterday we walked 2 miles and took Kali to an off-leash dog park. It was her first time. She was such an obnoxious puppy that I was reluctant to take her to places like that because I knew she would be the annoying dog that would need constant reprimands to keep her in line. I took her to the farmers market ONCE and spent the whole time keeping her under control - I didn't even really shop! But over the past few months, she has really matured so I felt much more comfortable about the situation. So I finally took her. She was actually one of the better behaved dogs there! The park is on an island in the lake and she is a bit nervous in water that is deep enough to get her belly wet. But she wanted to play with the other dogs so bad, so she went in a little ways. But she never really got in and swam. Right before we left, I picked her up and tossed her in just to make her try it. Poor little pup swam right back to the shore and looked a little shocked! I think her legs are just too short for it. I don't think I've ever seen a corgi or dachshund or other short dogs really swim. We are going to buy her a life jacket and see if that'll help out.

She slept like a rock all afternoon!

So, 2 more miles for a new total of 164.5 miles!

Haven't gotten a walk in since Sunday. Hopefully I can tonight but it's starting to look like it might rain. But we both need the exercise!

Just popping in to add another ten miles to our total! Now we're at 174.5. Oh my poor dogs. The weather has taken a turn for sweltering here after all of the rain. We walked early today, but took it at a slow pace due to the rocketing temperature and took ample breaks in the shade. I'm not a Nazi the entire time.
