Thanks Lisa. I'm expecting more weight off tomorrow morning when I step on the scale. I wouldn't be surprised if this round of RFL goes even better than the first round. My body just feels like it's really starting to burn fat.

Also,

40.0" stomach
39.0" hips

I am really feeling good about this contest. I'm just now 5 weeks in to the contest and I have already lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks! I look the best I have looked in nearly two years and some of my bigger 36 jeans are literally falling off me. Next up, 205...a light heavyweight again! :D

This is the first time I have been stunned by a weigh in, in a positive way! I was 206.0 yesterday, drank a TON of water, ate my 3 big protein meals with veggies, worked out, etc. I never expected to be 2 pounds less. I started shadow boxing in the mirror for about 3 seconds and then followed it up with a few fist pumps. I'm getting very close to 199 now. I can taste it!

Yesterday's workout was another great sign. I went back to the exercises I was doing in round 1 and I have gained strength in every exercise. I guess there is no guarantee I haven't lost at least "some" muscle but it can't be much considering the strength I have gained since I was 221 pounds just a little over 5 weeks ago.

I'm hoping for something close to 200 even by the time next Friday rolls around. However, I have a free meal tonight and I have a refeed on Monday. Both of those could spike my weight up for a few days. Realistically, 200 may be hard to achieve by then.

Regardless, I am really fired up right now.

Hi Derrick,

Nice Job on the weight loss. 200 is a nice number to break. It feels so good to say I weigh 1_ _-lol. Keep up the good work! You will be 1 _ _ before you know it.

Great job! 17 lbs down in 5 weeks is insane!!! Love it!! :cheers2:!! Doing gooooood! If you have em, post us up some side by side progress pics! :D! I'm a junkie for progress pics! (other than my own!) :blush5: LOL!

I will do 6 week progress pictures this Friday. I know I look a lot leaner in the mirror but I'm hoping the pictures turn out that way also.

I am still doing very well with following my diet and exercise plan. Yesterday I increased the weight for several exercises. I vigorously tore through them with focus and purpose. I am learning to channel all of the suffering and pain I feel from my struggles and then releasing the built up frustration and anger with each and every rep. It only increases my strength and endurance. My PT was seriously starting to wonder if I'm on something! I guess it was the best complement he could have ever given me. Him and I both know how hard it is to increase your strength as you lose so much weight. Simply maintaining your strength would be a feat. But at this point I have considerably increased my strength (close to 10%). All I can do is be thankful and keep pushing towards my goals. I pray this good fortune continues. I feel so motivated, so focused and so strong right now. Yet I have to remind myself, I still have a long way to go.

It's so lovely to hear you so positive--These are the posts you need to look back on when you're feeling low and discouraged. You're awesome and YOU CAN DO THIS!

P.S. Totally giggled when you said you were doing shadow boxing and fist pumping in the mirror when you realised you'd lost 2lbs!! :p

Thanks Sunflower! That makes me feel even better. :)
I can be a major dork when I'm looking at myself in the mirror so shadow boxing came natural. :D

Hey, hey, hey! Long time no talk indeed! I had a babaaayy but I will be back so often to check on my besties! Looks like you are still fighting the good fight my friend! Toodles for now!

Hi Bansheebabe! I posted in your journal. Welcome back! I hope you stick around for awhile. :)

I am posting this because I can finally show the significant fluctuations in bio-impedance scales. Just a week ago I weighed 204.0 but Tanita said 26%! So in one week I lost enough fat and gained enough muscle to drop my body fat percentage by 5 points while keeping my weight the same?!? I don't think so. I personally believe I am realistically about 18% or 19% body fat right now. Bottom line is, to get to where I want to be (10% to 12%), I need to drop down into the 180's. That hasn't changed in years. I just haven't been able to get there. Until this time. This time I will. I'm thinking 181 to 185 is where I will stop worrying about body weight.

Hi Derrick, congratulations on your success.

I find myself in a very similar position to you. I define my true goal in terms of bodyfat which would be in the 12-15% range. Currently according to my scale I'm at 183.5/18%/6'0". Just made it to 'normal' in BMI terms.
I agree with you that BF can swing a good deal from day to day.

May I ask what kind of workout schedule do you have?

Hi Iain. My current workout schedule will not last forever simply because it is very specific to the diet I am currently on. For now I am only lifting weights twice a week. I lift on Mondays and Fridays. It's a total body workout in the 6 to 10 rep range as heavy as possible while still getting the last rep. Or until failure as long as failure is the last rep or two. If you go just a couple pages back, you will see my workouts listed in blue I believe.

Once my diet break comes, in about two more weeks, I then shift my focus to a maintenance diet while reintroducing moderate to high intensity cardio. I also continue to do resistance training twice per week but I have my personal trainer put me through more of a high cardiovascular circuit workout. I stay on the diet break for two weeks and then jump right back into my current diet for another period of two or three weeks.

Tomorrow marks the half way point of the weight loss contest I am doing. I already have the last 6 weeks planned out. I even have a plan B typed out in an excel document. I plan on continuing this 2nd round of Rapid Fat Loss dieting until week 7 or 8. Then I plan on taking a two or three week diet break. I plan on adding kickboxing two times per week during the break. I also plan on swimming at least twice per week as well as long durations of moderate cardio on the treadmill in an attempt to burn some of my stubborn spare tire fat. If the weight continues to come off I will just finish the remaining weeks on the diet break. However, if I stall again I will finish the last two weeks of the contest on the Rapid Fat Loss diet.

My mission is to get well into the 180's before I even begin thinking about taking my focus off losing weight. The ultimate goal here is 10 to 12 percent body fat. At that point I want to remain flexible with what I do in regards to fitness. Getting into true swimming shape has always been on my mind. Discovering whether or not I have any ability in fighting is another. Triathlons is something I would absolutely love to do but I have two major problems with running, sciatic nerve and the crash I get after the runner's high. I am dealing with one, shots in my back, still trying to find out if there is a solution to the other.

I'll be back here tomorrow to post my half way numbers.

The starting and current pics are below, completely relaxed in both of them.
I feel like I'm right where I should be at this point. I have 6 weeks to go before the final photos.

Awesome job Derrick!! What a difference!! Looks like what you are doing is paying off. What a great transformation and you are only half way!!

That's a spectacular difference in just a few weeks. It's obviously working for you. Do you measure BF% through your feet on the scale or with a handheld?

By looking at your pictures, I'd guess that your jeans don't fit anymore, it's a very satifsying feeling, isn't it?

You workouts look similar to mine but heavier/fewer. I was doing 3x60 minutes cardio a week but am easing up there as I'm broadly satisfied with my weight.

Congratulations on your efforts paying off. Keep up the great work.

Wow you are doing awesome. Way to go. Me too. You know what I'm loving my life today. Congratulations Derrick. So glad I stopped by to see your progress.

Derrick, the pictures look fantastic - what a difference! Bet that makes all the hard work feel so worth it!

Hey Derrick, I just saw your progress photos, wow what a difference!
Well done! You look fantastic :hurray:
