You are a machine Cowboy! So glad to see you are still doing so well. As for your arm, all I can say is oh boy, sounds all too familiar. I hope it goes away soon. Advil is the best!

lol about the watermelons. I like them a lot too especially when the weather is really hot. If you have a garden why don't you try to grow some. They only need water and are pretty easy to grow.

My ambition re watermelons is to grow enough to make watermelon wine.

About the tricep pain, you should get it checked out. It may well be referred pain and if that's the case you don't want to do any damage to more sensitive part of your body like your back or some joint. Maybe this is a shoulder joint? I do'nt know. But i used to type medicolegal reports (one amongst many jobs) and referrred pain was a frequent matter.

And i know what it is to have to give up a loved sport for injury. I injured my knee just as i was getting into triathlon and had to give it up. I could take it up again now but it was quite an expensive sport and i no longer have the right sort of bike for it. But i really missed it and of course i put all the weight i lost back on.

Thanks, Derrick. The arm is better today. Don't know what I did to it but it couldn't have too serious-lol. Thanks for stopping by.

They don't grow too well up here- our growing season is not long enough. Believe me I have tried-LOL. I can't imagine spoiling a good watermelon for wine, although I am not a wine drinker just a watermelon eater-LOL.

The tricep pain went away. I don't know if it was a tendon giving me trouble the last couple of days or what it was. I know since I have lost the weight I have veins and cords and tendons sticking out of places I didn't know I had-LOL- it is kind of gross in a good way. There is a tendon that is under my arm on the outside that if I lift my arm up and push on the tendon it causes the shooting pain in my tricep- weird. It must be attached attached to my tricep. Anyway, it is okay today.

Good Friday Morning!

TGIF- it is finally the weekend. Yesterday with my tricep giving me problems and with having to work later at work, I never got my run before boot camp in. I was worried about being able to do boot camp but as I was doing the exercise I realized I never had any pain. I think it was a tendon giving me trouble and boot camp stretched it out so it went away. I can still feel it depending on how I bend my arm but it is way better.

Yesterday a little low on calories - about 1500 but I am feeling strong and lean. It is funny I have been losing weight since late August of last year. I lost 80 pounds and no one at work said a word. Yesterday, I had three people at work say to me that I look like I lost weight-LOL.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a Great Friday and a Great Weekend!!

Man, it sounds like you are doing super fantastic!!! Bummer that you are having some pain though - I hope that's all better by now.

I know what you mean about watermelon - my FAVORITE! A few years ago I could eat half of a watermelon all by myself in one sitting! I may have had to get up to pee a couple times while eating it, but I'd eat it all myself! YUM! Nothing like a nice cool watermelon on a hot summer day.

Not that I'll be seeing any hot summer days any time soon though! We had a few snowflakes early on Saturday morning again believe it or not!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi Tig,

Yeah I do love me some watermelon-lol. They are fantastic right now. I too can sit down with a 1/2 a watermelon and a spoon and eat it until it looks like an empty bowl-lol.

It was 25 C ( about 78F) yesterday and 5 C ( about 42F) today. I don't know why I live here sometimes. The temperature swings are wild here. Hope things are good with you!!

Hi,

Been MIA the last week or so. I had to do some IT training in another province for a few days and then came home to have a few days off for vacation. I live on an acreage so the Spring\Summer is my busy time. Rototilling, cutting grass, planting garden, putting in flowers etc.

Eating has been good. I purposely have not weighed myself since I hit goal about 3 weeks ago because I wanted to know if I could intuitively eat at maintenance without consciously thinking calories. I stepped on the scales and have not gained or lost so I guess I can do it. I have been introducing the occasional snack that I would not have eaten before- pretzels and salsa, even had one chocolate-lol.

Running has been good. I have upped my long slow run on Sunday to 9K. This was the first week at the increased distance as we were scheduled to run 7 K the last three Sundays. I have not run this long a distance since my 10K run on March 20 so I was kind of worried. Plus it was hot outside so I have to learn to run with a hydration belt- which went okay. My running clinic also suggests running 10 and 1's which means that you run for 10 minutes and walk for 1 then run for 10 and walk for 1. It is the first time I have run like this as I normally just run-lol. It went okay too and I think with the increase in distance it will help me finish stronger at the longer distance. It is supposed to help you run the same speed for the first 10 minutes as as the last 10 minutes of the race. We will see I guess.

I hope things are well with all of you.

Glad to hear your running is going well and that you are able to eat maintenance without much thought. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, Jennifer. Yeah the maintenance thing is yet another adventure - at least some days it is-lol. Thanks for stopping by.

Good Wednesday Morning,

Well I am back at work after some training in BC and some vacation days. Unfortunately I didn't stay in BC for my vacation. I had so much to do around the yard. Grass cutting, rototilling, moving dirt, planting trees. At least some of the stuff counts for a workout- doesn't it-lol?

Eating was good yesterday. This was actually the first time since I started maintenance that I was able to eat over 2000 calories. I ate 2100 but could have eaten 2900-lol. Oh well at least I tried.

Did a 4K tempo run last night with my running clinic group. Ran with a guy that has run 3 marathons and scores of 1/2 marathons. Was picking his brain as we ran for some pointers. He and I ran together way at the front of the group-lol.

Tonight it is another 4K tempo run. Should be good.

That is it for today. I hope everyone has a Great Wednesday!!

Good Thursday Morning,

Well yesterday was a write off for running. Pouring rain and about 6C. I was going to run with the clinic but other things got in the way. I am going to run by myself after work today though.

Eating was good- about 1700 calories. I can't believe how much I ate and it was only 1700 calories. Mind you it was all healthy stuff. Tried something new yesterday. I was reading in a magazine about the 10 superfoods. I was already eating quite a few of them already but one of the foods listed was kale. I have never tried it before but thought I would give it a shot. It is a bit bitter raw but not bad. Someone mentioned to me about kale chips and that is the best way to eat kale. So I gave it a shot. All you have to do is drizzle it with olive oil and bake it in the oven ( after ripping it up of course). It is really good. Baking it takes away some of the bitterness and it was really tasty. I think I am going to add kale to my list of foods-lol.

Weight is still at 175 so maintenance is going good so far. Running is good too. I guess life is good at the moment- got to give thanks for the little things in life.

Have a Great Thursday!

Psh cant run cause it is freezing outside and raining... WHINER! :) just kidding. It is great you are maintaining, some days I gain and others I lose, I feel like I am happy as long as my clothes keep fitting.

Hope you have a great rest of your week!

LOL- you are right. I ran in -30C here in the Winter and I can't run in pouring rain and 6C. I am whining-lol. It is still raining and 5C here today- and I AM running- doesnt' that count? You have a great week too!!

Good Friday Morning,

Yesterday was a good exercise day. Ran about 6.5K. Felt good as I didn't run the day before. Food was good as well- about 1800 calories. Not much else to report though- weight is staying the same although I am tightening up the skin on my abs finally. I don't know what I am expecting but at just about 50 I don't think I am going to have a six pack- maybe just a three pack. Although I guess that is better than a keg-lol.

Going to run with my clinic group this Sunday. I have been running with my boot camp group on Sundays but the trainers ( or former trainers now) are away this week so I will joing my clinic group at 8:30 am on Sunday for a nice 9K run.

The boot camps ended this past week so yesterday when I should be at boot camp I only ran. I am going to have to figure out something else to do that night. Weight training maybe? I haven't been weight training as I have been concentrating on my running but I need to include the weight training for some cross training- maybe next week.

That is it for today. Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

HAHAHAHA!!!!

I'm finding it very surprising how much my skin has changed (especially on my belly and boobs) over the last 6 months or so. I haven't really lost any weight (other than the odd couple of pounds up and down) since last November, but people are still commenting about how much weight I am still losing. I think it's just because my skin continues to shrink and repair itself (EVER SO SLOWLY!) and not because I've actually lost any more weight. At my age I don't know how much more to expect, but honestly it's improved WAY more than I ever thought it would. Last fall I was trying to resign myself to the fact that this was as good as it was going to get - and it's WAY better!

Do you have any stretch marks from being heavy? Or did your skin stretch slow enough so that it's just too big for your body for now, but not really marked up? I think if you don't have stretch marks (since those are actually scars from damage to your skin) that given enough time chances are good that you'll see a lot of improvement in your skin. It IS a living organ after all and is supposed to be capable of repairing itself - to an extent anyway.

I almost wish I had taken fully nude pictures or measured how far down my boobs and belly hung last fall to compare to now. I no longer have an actual 'flap' of skin over-hanging on my belly. It's sucked back up into place for the most part, but because of all the stretch marks (thanks kids!) it looks like my skin has melted or something.

By the way - now that you are at goal and are a skinny stick, are you ever going to get around to posting some before/after pictures of yourself???

Hi Tig,

Mine is starting to change too. It is definitely getting tighter. I started wearing a compression shirt when I run and it makes a big difference and I think it is helping with the tightening process. Plus the extra skin doesn't bounce around as much- EWWW-LOL!!.

I do have stretch marks - by my love handles but they were there when I was really heavy- they have faded to the light white color. Less noticeable but still there. I can't even blame them on kids- just on shovelling food down my throat-lol.

I have debated posting pics and I may still do it. I don't like my picture taken so I have very few pictures of me when I was heavy. I may be able to dig a couple up and post them along with some new ones- I will see what I can do.

Thanks for stopping by!
