No binging and doing your taxes? I stand in awe
I get massively anxious for larger courses - even though smaller ones don´t even register in my brain. Dunno why...

The additional education sounds great - what sort of job would you want to get after that?

@Lama: I got really good at channeling my anxiety into work and productivity during school.
@Sunflower: I'd want to move into a propulsion engineer position at my current company.
@Rebel: Making pasta sauce tomorrow, so it'll probably happen again.

Ok, so I've been gone for about a week. Let's just say that the majority of that week was BAD BAD BAD with food. I was either at maintenance or slightly over in all that time. I was still going to the gym, just eating all the food at the same time. Sunday was kind of amazing. My brother, his girlfriend, and I went on an 8 mile hike up to this overlook. It's one of the most photographed places on the Appalachian Trail because this rocky outcropping sticks out over the tree line and allows for a 270 degree unobstructed view of the valley. I'm proud. I've never done a hike to an actual destination before. We hadn't actually intended to go that far, but we got about halfway there and just decided to go for it. So worth it. I'll see if I can post pics tomorrow. I had to take yesterday off from the gym because I was so sore from it. Got back to it tonight though. Food also seems more under control. Let's hope that continues.

Breakfast - overnight oats - 419 calories
Lunch - egg salad sandwich with carrot sticks and blackberries - 542 calories
Dinner - ham and beans with a dinner roll - 560 calories
Snack - pecan roll - 128 calories
Total - 1649 calories

I would love to see pictures as well! On top of that: eating at or slightly over maintenance is a far cry from BAD BAD BAD. Don't be too hard on yourself.

@cate: Check out the attachments on this post.
@Lama: Well, the BAD BAD BAD was mostly referring to two days in particular that were just unmitigated shit shows. Way above maintenance.

Today was good. Started a new cycle at the gym, which always feels good. Progress! Here's what I did:

Overhead Press:
65 lbs for 5
70 lbs for 5
80 lbs for 5

Deadlift:
125 lbs for 5
140 lbs for 5
160 lbs for 5

Plus some various assistance work. I actually added some more stuff into my routine based on the areas that got sore from the hike. My quads, gluteus maximus, and calves were fine, but I learned that I have a weak side butt (gluteus minimus and gluteus medius). That means leg lifts and clam shells for me! I can't complain. I've actually been meaning to add that stuff for a while to try and help with my IT band issues and just kept forgetting.

Breakfast - 2 eggs and a grapefruit - 223 calories
Lunch - ham and beans, carrots, sugar snap peas - 390 calories
Dinner - pasta with roasted vegetables - 782 calories
Snack - blackberries, Hershey's kisses - 194
Total - 1569 calories

Did pretty good with food today. Definitely can't complain. Check below for sweet hiking pics.

Limited view of the valley. It really doesn't do the landscape justice:

<3 Glute work is good work <3 One thing I have always loved. Also: you have a really cute brother!

The pictures of the hike look great - but I would NEVER sit as near to the edge as your brother did... Excellent exercise though.
Well done for getting back on track after a couple of dodgy days... Everyone has dodgy days from time to time - but getting straight back on track like that is a super achievement.

I used to be addicted to zumba - right up until I hurt my knee a year ago... Its a brilliant way of exercise because it is so much fun.

Wow, Cory! Thanks for the photos :) You are so brave sitting out there on that outcrop. There is NO way I could do that! I felt sick just looking at the photo!

@Lama: He's a good dude. I'll tell him internet strangers think he's cute. It'll make him puff up like a peacock for a bit.
@Omega: Oh no! Any chance it'll get better?
@cate: It was amazing. I felt very very small.

Zumba was great tonight. I was just really into it. It didn't hurt that my favorite instructor from my old place came and did a couple songs. Love that guy. I'll actually get to do a two hour class with him this weekend to raise money for foster kids. Actually, that's one of my favorite things about the fitness things and people I've gotten involved with. Every zumba event, highland games, or strongman competition has been for charity. The strongman my brother did raised $1500 for a local animal shelter. It's just so great to be involved with such positive and wonderful people.

Breakfast - overnight oats - 517 calories
Lunch - pork BBQ with carrots sticks and sugar snap peas - 612 calories
Dinner - bacon and eggs with roasted veggies - 410
Snacks - grapes, s'more - 370 calories
Total - 1910 calories

At a little more than I intended to today, but they were handing out warm s'mores in the cafeteria at work today and I just couldn't help myself.

I tend to feel like a bit of a fraud when I join in things marketed "for charity" when I'm really just in it for the fun. But I suppose the charity peoole don't mind as long as the miney comes in :)
Well done keeping track of those s'more calories and not going all out with them.

Just a quick update from yesterday. I'll fully admit I went a little off the rails. Kind of a perfect storm of wanting to celebrate and being tired and ill prepared. I had a good conversation with the head of the propulsion department and he pretty much said that he would work with me to try and get me into a propulsion job AND that I probably don't need more school. Honestly, I might still do it anyways, but it's nice not to feel like I have to. Then I went to the DMV for an hour and a half because my driver's license was too old to renew online. Then I decided to go clothes shopping. This was mixed for me. I don't really enjoy clothes shopping and it seemed like a huge chore, but the reason I went is because I've lost so much weight that most of my clothes are big enough that they are becoming indecent. I fit into SO MANY things. It was eye opening. I was buying 3X shirts has my heaviest and everything I bought yesterday was 1x (and I maybe could have gotten into a straight size large). Pants have gone from a 22 to a 16. That's pretty awesome. Point is, I wound up buying dinner and getting some ice cream because I was both tired and in a good mood. Wound up around 2400 calories.

I hope you enjoyed every mouthful of that ice cream. It may not be the healthiest way of celebrating but - my word - do you deserve a celebration! Congratulations on the job options and clothing possibilities, hon. Pretty sure you worked your butt off for both so be as happy and proud as you please :grouphug:

:iagree: with LaMa. LOTS to be proud & happy about Cory. Well done hon!!!

Dropping clothes sizes is always THE BEST milestone...

It is the milestone that everyone can see - it is directly in line with our figure actually changing shape and size.

Congratulations
Dinner with ice cream is an apt celebration... You have denied yourself to get here - but a reward was due.

You ask about my knee... I suspect that it is probably better enough for me to try to do some zumba again - maybe 1 hr a week to start (I'd be very unfit) - but I'm still a bit scared... I have dance exams in May that I am not allowed to get injured before... Maybe after May...

I've been struggling so hard with food for the last couple of weeks. Yesterday was ok and today was pretty good, so I think I might finally have it back under control. Went to zumba tonight, which was a lot of fun. I found out that I've been volunteered to teach a song in a couple weeks, so I stayed after to practice it for a bit. The timing seems apropos because I decided yesterday that I want to get my zumba certification and start teaching a class or two of my own. The next cert class is in May. I think it'll be a good thing. Pretty tired right now, so I think I'll just list my food and go to bed.

Breakfast - overnight oats - 419 calories
Lunch - chicken quesadilla - 530 calories
Dinner - ham and pinto beans - 720 calories
Snack - apple - 80 calories
Total - 1749 calories

Sounds exciting! Quite a change from your day-to-day, which is generally a healthy thing.

Wow, Cory. Good for you! :D
