Cory, I feel the same was you do when it comes to exercise. Never in a million years did I think I'd actually like to workout. Sweating was just unappealing to me, but now I look forward to it! Not only is it a great stress reliever, but when you start to see your body transforming... it's just pretty empowering! :)

I always liked exercising which is why it's so odd that I stopped for so long. Guess that's water under the bridge at this point.

Good job on getting back on track.

I liked being active, but EVER liked exercise as a hobby other than weight lifting. It's growing on me now, though.

Starting to love your exercise regimen is a GREAT sign for the future, Cory!

Zumba , pilates, Yoga....Good 4 U Cory ! .... it's nice when U actually LIKE stuff that's good for ya ;)
... and great work on keeping in your calorie goal... moving in the right direction !

Thanks for the kind responses, everyone!

So, yesterday I realized I had been completely soda free for a week. I remember I posted something about getting through the weekend without having one. I think I'm going to keep doing that until I slip and get one. Right now I'm working on week 2. I'll be interested to see how long I can go. I almost got one at work (damn vending machines), but stopped at the last moment. I literally had my money in my hand and was standing in front of it. Then I thought, "I don't need this. It isn't worth it. Just walk back to your desk."

Did pilates today! It was rough because I did pilates yesterday too. My abs are going to be so sore over the next couple of days. I have tomorrow off of work, if not class, and I think I'm going to try to do an hour yoga, a 1 mile hike, and an hour of zumba. I've never tried to do that much in a day before, but I think I can handle it at this point.

I'm really nervous about weighing in this weekend. Last week I gained and the week before that I stayed the same. I really want to see down this week.

When it comes to exercise, its crazy how getting into the habit of doing it changes your opinion. Whenever I go through a "slacker period" and stop working out, I don't feel like working out. But when I'm working out on a regular basis it feels so good and I'm like why did I ever stop doing this!?

Cory - I've had similar struggles with diet soda...blah! Honestly...in my experience...the longer I went without soda, the stranger it tasted to me when I had some again. Truly. Even after a few weeks, it just doesn't taste as good going back to it, especially if you are being healthier overall. I know it can be a struggle at first and GREAT job flexing your willpower at that stupid soda machine! :)

GO CORY!!!! WELL DONE ON NOT GETTING THE SODA! That takes willpower!!!
You can do this!

Your plan for tomorrow sounds good!! That's a lot of exercise!! You are inspiring me! I should do more too.
Scale..don't you check during the week? I have a feeling it's going down - mine is (ABOUT TIME TOO)

Keep up the good work!

Excellent on the soda!!! Double like!! I'm convinced soda (regular and diet) is what was helping me keep the sugar addition! Once I got over the caffeine withdrawal headache, and I started drinking regular water and sparkling water, I noticed a difference in my weightloss...now, I've been off them for several months and I won't go back...(wouldn't want to go through the caffeine headache again for nothin!). Excellent choice Cory!! Keep it up!! Loving your exercise plan!! You rock girl!!

Sarah

Hey Cory- happy yoga-hike-zumba day.. .hope it went well.

& good job kicking the pop to the curb !....
hope U have a nice long-weekend... ;)

Just got back from yoga. I'm so looking forward to being skinnier for it. My fat actually gets in the way enough to make some of the moves impossible. I won't be able to do the hike today. My brother has to study and I don't like going by myself, but I will still do zumba in a bit.

In kind of a weird mood right now. A few years ago something really awful happened on my campus. I'm not going to say exactly what it was because most people would be able to figure out where I go to school then and I'm hesitant to put that kind of into on the internet. I was in the exact spot where it happened today and it just occurred to me that if the timing and location of the event had been only mildly different (and I mean by half a year and 60 ft), I could have been directly involved in this event. I don't know. It was just one of those times people have in their life where they realize they aren't immortal.

I hear you on the fat getting in the way. There are some moves in taebo that are like that for me, but I try to fight (or should I say flap) through it. LOL So you're liking Yoga? I've been wondering if I should try that too. Which do you prefer Yoga or Pilates? I'm honestly not really sure what either exercise does for the body. Is one more challenging than the other?

I think we all have those odd moments. I hope it didn't rattle you too badly.

Mandy, I'm glad you can relate. :p It's kind of embarassing to be in a big group and not be able to do something because I'm honestly too fat. Oh well. I won't be that way forever.

I did get to zumba today, so that made two fitness classes. It's amazing to me. A month ago there's no way I could have done both yoga and zumba. I made a friend today too. Apparently she's noticed me several times. We got to almost all of the same classes during the week, which is saying something considering I have literally 100 to choose from. I hope she keeps coming. It's nice to feel like I'm not in it alone, so to speak. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for exercise tomorrow. I couldn't get anyone to go on a hike with me and I don't like going by myself. Maybe tomorrow will be a rest day.

Coke free for 9 days!

It's so strange the way that your weight affects the things you do! I didnt notice as much how some things were easier when I was at a healthy weight but now that I'm overweight again things like climbing a fence or even getting up out of chair are just much more uncomfortable. At the rec centre where I do my elliptical runs it looks over a gymnasium with a glass partition and you can see your reflection and my body is so jiggly I hate seeing it bounce around like that :p guess its motivation to work though lol

Cory - That's so neat that you've found an exercise buddy! I've always wanted someone to go to the gym with...I think it could be very motivating, even if it is just a casual, in-class familiarity. Definitely helps!

Also, congrats on coming so far in your fitness and overall health. Isn't it amazing what a month can do to change your life for the better? :) Now keep going!

WELL DONE FOR KEEPING AWAY FROM COKE! Go girl!!

It's awesome to make a friend in the gym! It makes a difference!!

Well done on the exercise! & good luck with the weigh in!!!

I am soooo jealous that you have a workout buddy, a training buddy can make areal difference !!

I know this feeling well. All of the studios my fitness classes in have mirrors on 3 out of 4 walls. x____X

I can't decide what to do about exercise today. I want to give myself one rest day a week because most of the other days I'm doing something fairly intense. I can take that day today and do pilates on Monday (so I'll have access to a fitness class), or I can do an hour of walking or something today and have my rest day on Monday.

Food has been pretty good today. I had toast with peanut butter and some grapes for breakfast and 3 slices of veggie heavy pizza for lunch. Because lunch was so heavy, I'll probably do a salad for dinner or something like that. I'll eat an apple for a snack later. After dinner I'll have all of my fruit and veggie points for the mini-challenge!

Edit: I've also been at my parents' house for almost 24 hours and haven't thought about getting one of those lovely cokes sitting in the fridge at all.

Cory - That is so fantastic that you have not even thought about grabbing a Coke! That is a huge step from where you were previously! I'm really happy to hear that :) Yeah, having a rest day is important. I have a tendency to skip them because they make me anxious...as in feeling like I'm not doing anything. But our bodies need it now and then! Anyways, you are doing really great! Keep up the fantastic momentum! :)
