The guys here have to take pointers from you, Kutusov. "... when I look I only see you on the other end of the ocean..."

OK. So I've just COMPLETELY melted now. I'll marry you so you can come to Canada and stay here. But you'll hate the weather we're having right now. It's absolutely horrible :(

I promise to keep you warm, though :p

Isn't Porto where all the delicious Port wines are made?

I'll bathe in your melted state, and so you can keep me warm while we watching the snow falling outside the window. :action4:

And yes, Port wine comes from here. The vineyards are up river in the Douro region, where half the wine is made. The graps are turned into wine and 90 proof alcohol. The alcohol is then added to the wine while it's still fermenting, killing the yeast and stoping the process. What you get is a sweeter wine (not fully fermented) with more alcohol (because of the mix).

The wine is then shipped down river to Porto and Gaia (the city across the river) where it's finished.

There's 3 main types of Port wine:
- White Port: made out of white grapes
- Ruby: they are aged in a kind of wood tanks. Low contact with wood make them sweeter and more red in colour.
- Tawny: same process as the Rubies, but then the wine is transferred to barrels to age.

Which ports do you think are the best, or are there good ports within each category?

No answer to the first question, it's complicated... but you can easily figure it out by earlier posts ;)

Regarding Ports, they are just like wine, very different from one another. I really don't care much for Port wine, I don't like any sweet alcoholic drink or ****tail. I can tell you, though, to go for twainy ports. Taylors is always a safe bet. They export all the good stuff, leaving the worst for internal conception. And even the worst is a fine Port.

Anyway, regarding our fireplace, I would much rather bring a good bottle of cognac. Napoleon VSOP. Heaven on Earth can't be much closer to that, especially with you by my side ;)

Yeap, that's also my next challenge :D. That's why I only mentioned Christmas.

But the New Year's thing already started, with friends and acquaintances asking where and with whom am I going to spend it with...

My friends always ask me what I'm doing for New Year's Eve and what my resolutions are. For the past few years, I've told them my only resolution is to stay up until midnight to bring the new year in. And it's none of their business what I'm doing or who I'm doing it with :p

Although I think everybody here knows what I'm doing ... but you guys are way better than my friends and family :D

I still dont know what im doing new years, taxi's are double & triple fair so i wont be going to far. Times like new year i wish i wasnt single though, because iv gotta rely on pulling someone for it. Cant be lonely on new year ;)

Damn; it must have been quiet on here over the Christmas period. It's only taken me a few minutes to catch up on all the activity I've missed

As good as can be expected considering I had to spend it with in-laws! The real downer came yesterday when I caught a glimpse of my girlfriend’s credit card bill :(

What about you?
