Hi Everyone
Hope you have all been enjoying a lovely weekend!

Thanks to those who had a response to my question. I think I will go with my initial reaction and keep quiet about doing Cohen's. I'm sure I can make up enough excuses not to eat out with friends (why does socialising always involve food?) My family wont know till they see me at Christmas as I live interstate. Hopefully by then my weight loss will be well under way and they'll be looking at a new person.:p

Myshy: Congratulations on 66kg!:) You mustn't have far to go now?

lmr- You must be so proud of your progress! Dropping 5 dress sizes is no easy task. You sound like you had a blast on your shopping expedition! :D

Casey: Its nice to know there'll be someone else starting their journey around the same time. I dont know about you but I'm feeling a bit impatient to get going... I hope I can maintain my enthusiasm

Rajah- from your honesty about "falling off the wagon" at Easter I've started thinking what am I going to do at Christmas...?? Any words of wisdom? I dont want to ruin all my hard work. P.S. I love your line about being happy losers!

Till next time!

Hi all

Well today was my measuring day. I only measure myself fortnightly now because I was finding it too depressing weekly if I didnt lose much.

When I measured, I lost 10 cms. So that is 41.5 cm in 6 weeks. And I had a bad week last week where I broke nearly every day. This week is a new week and I am going to be soooooooo good and not break at all!! And if I do, I am going to tell you all so that you can all rouse on me.. Promise you will.

With regards to the water, I find it easier to drink it in glass amounts. I usually can drink 2 300ml glasses in one go.

I try to drink 4 litres of water a day because the consultant my mother is through said that the more you drink the more you lose and it is right.

I find that if Im not busy I want to pick at food. I know its just a old habit cause Im not really hungry but habits are hard to break and that is why I had such a bad week last week cause I got sick and then I just couldnt get back on track but after seeing such great results from me and everyone else, it is helping to keep my motivated

What I find the hardest is the 5 hour gap with your meals. Cause I work early mornings and evenings, if I don't have breakfast at 6am I am stuffed for the rest of the day.

What do you find it the hardest??

In regards to telling people, I wasn't going to tell them at first but when they all started noticing the results, I couldn't help but tell them. So far only my sister has said that rapid weight loss is wrong. Mind you, she is on weight watchers and in 12 months has only lost 17kgs. I have been on cohen's 6 weeks and lost 12. I think she may be jealous.

Thats all for now. Talk soon

Hi Kim what do you eat at 6am for brekky?I have mine at 8:30am and its hard for me to eat then. Goodluck with staying good this week you can do it and when you lose the next 5kg you'll be spurred on to lose the next 5kg. The great weather is making it easier to stick to as winter time is the worst to be on this, the hotter weather makes it easier to get lots of water down. Happy weightloss to all.

Hi Everyone,
I have decided that I will weigh myself only once a week instead of every day. I get too discouraged when I go up and down. This is a huge step for me as I am a habitual scale jumper. I have limited myself over the past 4 weeks to once a day, but before this it was nothing for me to jump on 6-7 times a day.

I have also put a set of scales away that weigh in 100gm increments. So far I have been getting by with my old ones, so it will be interesting to see how they go. I was told that these scales were crucial for the refeed process.

One of my friends children's school is having a mango drive. It was $20 for 20 mangos. I am drooling already. I love mango season!:D

I looked at some photos yesterday that were taken 4 weeks ago at my partners graduation. The transformation is staggering. So to the girls contemplating doing this before christmas - imagine how much better you will look attending your christmas functions. I have found the diet very easy to work around when eating out. The weights may not be exact, but if plan carefully (and even ring ahead where you can to find out what is going to be served) you will survive quite easily.

Hope everyone is well.

Myshy:)

Healthymum,
I find not having milk in my coffee the hardest, although I don't mind black coffee now. Its not the same ordering a short black when everyone else is having a latte or cappacino.

Hi everyone, thanks very much for the encouragemnet and support am looking forward to it am very excited and Yes Nat I am getting impatient and ready to start. :)
IMR - WOW Esprit !! your shopping spree has got me all excited :) :) the only thing I have brought in Esprit is the only thing that fits and thats a hand bag !vey big well done to you.
Take care every one and keep up the good work - Casey

Ok, gremlins in the puter again.

I posted a really long post today and it disappeared.

Kaseysmum - I usually have either cottage cheese and salad or egg and vegatables.

IMR - congratulations on shopping in a "normal" store. I am really looking forward to shopping for normal my age clothes. You must feel fantastic.

Another thing I really miss is my nightly milo. My husband and I used to sit down after the 5 kids are all in bed and he would drink a coffee and I would have a milo. I don't like tea or coffee so I can't replace it with anything.
Any suggestions?

It is hard to stay on track once you break. I stuffed up again today and ate some biscuits. I don't know what is wrong with me. I was sooooooo good for the first month. I made myself drink extra water as a punishment.

Tomorrow is another day.

Kim

Cohen's lifestyle

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a good weekend and a great start to the week.

Divinemissnat: I don't know if I have any words of wisdom, but I think more willpower for me would be a great Christmas present. Hopefully Santa won't forget to listen to my wishes. ;) I'm going to think of it as another day and stick with it as close as I can. At least I am conscious of what I am eating and I won't be eating all the cakes and sweets that seem to be around. Even leading to the day there are many work lunches and pre-Christmas drinks. Diet coke works well for me anytime.

Imr: You must feel and look fantastic and you deserve it after all your hard work. Enjoy!!!

Healthymum: A suggestion could be to have a baked apple or fruit salad. Have you tried peppermint tea? It's quite refreshing.

Missysmum: Thinking of you, hope everything is going well.

Well good night and have a good and successful weight loss week. :D

Hi everyone. Great to hear that everyone is still going well, and we have a few "newbies" about to start. Good luck, stay strong. I don't think I would be able to get back on track if I broke this diet, so i have been super strict for the whole time I was on the diet and the re-feed, and remember drink heaps of water. The more you drink, the faster the weight comes off.
Well tomorrow is the last day of my re-feed...Yay!!! I am doing really well, and have lost 2kg now since starting the re-feed. I was really surprised to find that most of the weight I lost was in the later stage of the re-feed when I was eating the most food, so it is really working and my body is definately adjusting to the increased amount of food. I am also not finding it hard to eat the increased quantities any more as my appetite has returned which is a nice change.
Lmr, how much fun is the shopping. You must have just loved shopping in Esprit, and trying things on, and fitting. Isn't it a great feeling when you try on what you think is your size now, and you have to send it back because it's too big!!! Is tomorrow your big day for starting your re-feed? Good luck, and enjoy it.
Anyway, too tired for a big post tonight. Have a great night everyone, talk to you all soon.:)

Hi everyone welcome to the new ones starting out on cohens I am sure you will all do very well.
Had a nice surprise today have gone down 2 sizes in pants was so shocked those clothes I had laybyed had to be taken back and I got a smaller size. To me it was such a milestone I still have so much to lose but I figure well 2 down so its a bit like my weight take break it down into 10 kilo lots.

rjm another 2 kilos down refeed must be working so well for you congratulations.

healthymum I to miss a milo (skim) as I really don't drink tea or coffee and I would like it too if there was something that tasted as good. Yep I bet your sister is jealous I would be to if I was her. Weight watchers is such hard work compared to cohens.

Rajah I decided to eat carefully on xmas day but still enjoy anything I like within reason, and drink lots of water no alcohol an hope that works.

myshy we are so alike I can't keep off the scales everyday either don't so much jump on and off. Have even sent them to my sons house and then was making excuses to go there more often then normal so I got them back no solution for keeping off them so I get on and off when I like its less stressfull then trying to keep off. Does that make sense.

My son-in-law had his first chemo and has only just stopped vomiting he has been so sick, he even broke his stitches from where his lymph node taken out from vomiting and he has lost so much weight his trousers are falling off him.But the tumours are getting a little smaller which is good. Thankyou all for thinking about him its appreciated.

Will close you all have been so good its a shame we all don't live close to each other and have our own little meeting wouldn't it be great. But the only drawback is morning tea would be pretty boring wouldn't it!
take care my friends Di

Hi everyone
Well I haven't written on this one but have been reading all of the threads. Well I need help. I started my diet the end of June and went well until half way through October, then I started having things I shouldn't. I got back on track sort of, as the weight really started to slow down, and then yesterday I lost it and ate and ate and in the end I thought well "get it out of your system" and had all of the things I wanted to eat. I felt sick!! So this morning I have woken up 2 kilos heavier!! but am just going to start again. I don't know where my will power went!
I am also a scale junkie, I can get on it every time I walk past it, which is silly as you get heavier as the day goes on.
Oh my weight this morning was 74.4 and I have to get to 50, I started at 101.6.
I am hoping that all of you can help me?
Talk to you all soon
Carolyn

Hey Sweetie its hard to get started for alot of us I had the darndest time but once I did It wasnt so bad. Just think about how good you felt before when you lost weight and know how good that feeling would feel again. You can do it Hon. I find that the easiest thing for me is counting calories but everyone is different I did this and have lost 40 pounds since August so its working for me. As far as being addicted to the scale, cant help you with that one as Im just as bad. Many of us are. Just keep your chin up sweetie and you can do this. If you need anything everyones here for you.

danpoll - hello to a fellow Canberrian. I am with you.. since breaking and going out to dinner with some mothers from my kids school I have broken every day.. It has been two weeks. Yesturday I ate about 15 morning coffee biscuits. I hated myself for doing it but couldn't stop it.. Why is that. I was soooooooo strick before that and didnt break once. I need to refocus.

I started at 106, now at 94 and need to get down to 50 also. I look forward to hearing from you and welcome to the forum. I am going to put a dress on laybye for the school reunion and hang it up where I can see it I think.

Well talk soon. Everyone have a great day!

Love Kim

Hi Ive got a good idea!!!Why dont all of us on here from Canberra meet up every so often for a cohens get together,it looks like Kim,Rajah and Carolyn and myself are all from Canberra. I live in Gilmore so maybe we could meet somewhere central for everyone and have a chat, ive got my refeed that I could show you what it entails and we could motivate each other. Only a suggestion, take care and keep away from naughty bickies or in my case jumping freddo frogs.

Have just been told by a relative, that is it worth joining up as I may not stick to it and so what a waste of money, and that if i really wanted to loose weight, i would have done it years ago !!!! This would have to be said on the eve of me joining up and forking over the cash ! Agh Agh.

Casey dont let your relative rain on your parade wont they look stupid when in 4 weeks you have lost 10 or more kilos and have your clothes falling off you,pay no attention to them they obviously are not very caring or supportive so stay away from them and just refocus and be excited that you are doing something that will change your life. People like that are just jealous and probably dont like themself cos if they did they wouldnt discourage others or say negative stuff. Stay happy keep smiling and forget what was said, its not a waste of money its for you. see ya:)

Hi everyone
thank you for your support :)
I do like the idea of getting together - I am in Gordon. I am not sure how we would arrange this???
It is a shame that we ALL don't live near each other, I would like to meet everyone :)
Carolyn

Casey,
I am with Kaseysmum - what your relative did was mean. Who cares if you have never stuck to a diet before. I never have!!!
Embrace the diet and you will have them eating their words. It is not as simple as 'getting rid of the weight' when everyone else thinks you should. The point is - you have made the choice to do this diet NOW.

They always say the best revenge is living your life to the fullest. Go for it and turn up at your family chrissy do looking sensational!

A tip for the scales - is they aren't in the house, you can't stand on them. Get a hubby/partner to hide them and only let you have them once a week.

Danpoll - don't let the break get you down. Focus on the new day :)
Missysmum - how exciting! I bet you look sensational. Well done!

I have had a good couple of days. No cravings as I am back on Centrum.

Hi all.

Missysmum, down 2 sizes is fantastic! Congratulations! How good did you feel when you had to exchange your layby for a smaller size! That's a positive sign that your son-in-law's tumors have reduced in size.

Casey, only you know what's best for you, so don't listen to any negative comments you receive. Making the decision to do Cohen's is a difficult one to make, but you've made it and no doubt you'll stick to it. As soon as you start seeing the results, it will keep you motivated to keep on going.

rjm, how exciting to have lost 2 kg on the refeed and to be on your last day of it! Congratulations! I still can't believe that nearly 5 months have passed since we started this diet.! The time has absolutely flown by. I picked up my refeed today and I'm starting it tomorrow. It goes for 16 days, so all going well, I'll be finished by the 9th December. It looks very complicated though. One question - when you get to the stage where you can start mixing proteins, does that mean you can swap the proteins on the original program, eg. in my Meal 3 at the moment, I can only have fish or chicken, so can I swap one of these for meat?

After my shopping spree on Saturday, I had the bug so I went again on Sunday. I returned a pair of BIB sz 20 jeans that I'd bought before I started this, but hadn't worn them (thank goodness they let me take them back seeing as I had then since May!) and I bought 2 more tops - one from Club Petites!!! Today I received a skirt that I'd bought through mail order but that had been on backorder for about 6 weeks. It's a size 12 and it's too big - yet when I ordered it, I was worried I wouldn't be able to fit in it. I used to hate clothes shopping - now I love it!

Keep focused everyone and you'll be feeling (and looking) good for Christmas! :D

Hi Everyone!

Gosh- I dont look for a couple of days and so much happens!

Casey- Your relative was very mean and selfish. Your relative is not thinking about the cost being overweight can have on your health. And saying that you would've lost the weight years ago if you wanted to is unfair. There are times in life when a 'switch' just goes on and the time is right, the willpower is there. If that time is right now then you should go with it. And yes the program is costly but its YOUR money and you can invest that any way you want- even in your own weightloss. Find people who are supportive, like your mum or us and go for it. Avoid your relative if he/she is unsupportive. But dont be too hard on him/her- she probably believes she's doing the right thing. And exact your revenge by losing weight, looking fab and proving your relative wrong!

Phew! That was a bit of a rant, but I think I am like this because I know the reaction you got from your relative is what i would get from my mum. I can also be a bit over protective...

No major news from me. Still waiting for my program to come through. I really hope its this week...

Thanks to those who had some advice about the Christmas season- I wil be taking lots of notice.

lmr- you have got the shopping bug havent you! You've worked hard for this. Enjoy every moment- you deserve it!

Missys-mum- it must be terrible to watch your son-in-law go through this. Its great that the tumors are shrinking! My thoughts are with you.

Welcome to all our newbies! The more support the better!

Till next time
Nat
