I just got back from my business trip..... not such a successful eating experience... I arranged special meals with the conference organisers, but the hotel just didn't seem to be able to get it right! and I made some bad choices too. But I did do a lot of walking, standing and lifting, so I'm hoping that made up for some of the bad choices.

Alot of people there hadn't seen me for a few months and I got lots of comments about how well I looked.... they couldn't necessarily pick that I had lost weight, just that I looked healthy and well and glowing. and I noticed a huge increase in energy levels. I was away for 4 days, manning a trade exhibition, presenting 2 papers, a workshop and an address to the whole conference, and going out for dinner every night, as well as packing up and unpacking the stand, and I think I had the most energy of anyone at the trade show.... I'm a bit tired now, but not too bad.

But tomorrow, the scales will tell the full story!! It will be interesting to see what they say.

CHELSEA:- Oh my! What an inspirational post. Thank you so much for your wondrful input and words of encouragement. I have wondered whether getting down to 62 - 59kg would make me look gaunt and older. Being 40 I often get told I look in my late 20's - early 30's. You have given me the inspiration and determination to be able to look forward to reaching that wonderful weight range. Im sooooo very very excited about seeing and being a new person. Im looking forward to living life to its absolute fullest as a healthy and slim woman. THANK YOU THANK YOU :) :D :p ;)

Words of Encouragement about Cohens

Hi everyone,

Chelsea is absolutely right about Cohens - it's a wonderful weight loss program and it works.

It's 86 days after completing the refeeding and I'm still within the safe range of my goal weight. My maximum fluctuation was 2 kilos.

Here are my stats.

I started at 83 kilos 22 Feb 06.

On 8.7.06 I reached goal weight of 60 kilos.

After my 17 days of refeeding my end weight was 58.1kg.

Yesterday 86 days after completing the refeeding I weighed in at 61.5 kilos.

People say I look 40 and yet I'm 50. I am wearing size 8 to 10 - and before starting the program I was busting out of size 16 and getting close to size 18.

I had jowells, baggy arms, back flab around my bra, a big barrel gut, big butt and fat legs.

Now all that has gone. And my skin is tight.

The Cohen Lifestyle Clinic weight loss program has taught me a new way of eating - and I am no longer at the mercy of starchy carbs - (which I was certainly addicted to).

For any of you who are cheating or deviating - it's so not worth the price of that food you want to eat. Once you get to goal weight and complete the refeeding you will be so ecstatic!!!! And this feeling is worth far more than any piece of food.

Just imagine yourself trying on your new clothes at your goal weight - those tiny little sizes like 8, 10 & 12 & 14. Imagine you looking so spunky in your new swimsuit or jeans. Feeling so proud of yourself cos you have done it!!
Achieved your goal weight and let your slim self come out and live.

This is your season to give yourself your total support - to be your biggest coach and supporter - to let yourself be amazing.

That's what I've done, and on this wonderful weight loss program you can too. It's up to you.

Go for it!!

Would any of you like to send me your stories? I'd love to post these on my website called Healthy Weight Loss Now - it's a resource for others who are struggling with weight loss.

On this site are recipes that helped me lose all my excess weight, plus strategies, my journal, my photos and stories from my girlfriends who are also on the Cohen program.

PS Check it out and let me know what you think.

Skin!

Hey ZSheldon Well done!! I'm getting close to refeed - hopefully next month or end of, anyways you say that your skin is tight - Was it saggy then tight?? I know mine has tighten up some more, but this is the only thing that concerns me!!:)

Hey everyone!

Chelsea- I have noticed also that my hair and nails grow at a rapid rate which is great because I was always chewing them- now I am making a concious effort not to.

Living it- don't worry too much about being really hungry if you are doing everything right. I found I was still hungry after two weeks and I wasn't even using any flavour eg. Garlic powder and avoiding eggs and cheese completely (I caught on in the first week that these foods made me hungrier) sometimes I think it takes a little longer for some people to adjust I was in the same boat- I am now 5weeks in and sometimes I almost forget to eat!

Babyegg- Don't be too hard on yourself- we are only human and there is a huge stigma put on bigger people and dieting- Ironically these things actually cancel each other out! Chelsea is right, people close to you will have to accept your efforts- I tell everyone now because even if they do think I'm crazy I don't care! who are they to judge? I paid too much money into this and have worked so hard already to care about others opinions. Next time just tell them you have to stick to a doctors eating plan for a little while for your health and leave it at that... It is really none of their business! but seriously you'll be fine, as lessfatty says, you haven't failed until you have completely given up!

I also just have to anounce to everyone that I have finally got a car! I am so excited because its a Mercedes Benz! My dad is still working on it for me (he's a head mechanic for Mercedes Benz Australia) but I will have it in a couple weeks! can't wait until summer being all skinny in a merc and stuff! so hot! (I'm not spoilt or anything, just finally having things go well for me)

anyway take care everyone, you are all in my thoughts and prayers

xx

anyways...im trying to kill time as I have to wait until 9:30pm to eat, as I had a wedding in the midddle of the day today but I woke up late, which meant I was due to eat lunch just as the bride was walking down the aisle...needless to say i was huuungryyyyyyyy and stepped out to eat my lunch in my cool green lunchbox soon after the ceremony was over....

Well its great to hear everyones experiences and I have to agree with you rjm, Cohens is THE best. I havent been on here much lately because I've had problems with my browser, but its all sorted now. Water is definetely a key player in this program. I've been on my new program for 10 days and I'm feeling fantastic. I only had 1 day ( I think it was the 2nd) one where I felt lousy. The weightloss is going great. Hope everyone has a good day.

Newbie

Hi Everyone!

I live in the US, and just started 1stPersonalDiet.com (US version of Cohens)- Monday will be 3 weeks for me!

I have resisted weighing myself, I am waiting till week 4 for weigh in, measurements, and body fat test. What has been the average pounds per week/month for everyone? Do you lose less if you have less weight to lose?

I have 38 pounds to lose to reach low range of Cohens goal, and am wondering what date I can hope to see this and start refeeding process.

I love reading everyones posts!

Thanks,
SoonToBeSKinny:eek:

I really hope to get the rest of my weight off me... LOL... :p Got to work extra hard.... Thanks all for hearing me grumble when i am really down....

I know the internet plan talks about 44pounds/month (22KG) with average between 15 and 33pounds/month ( 7 ~ 15 KG) month, well I havent experienced that type of loss (except for the first month I was 9KG/20pounds down.

There are three possible explainations for this as far

  1. Cohen "Hype" for the diet, exagerating the claims.
  2. I am doing something wrong, the old "deviation" issue. Crackers bit different, fruits sweeter/bigger, tuna different in Japan
  3. My body is not creating the HGH response as "expected".

For me I am losing weight at 1.6KG/week (3.5pounds) very consistently, there seems nothing I can do to increase the rate. I have tried more water, more execise, less fruit, different crackers...all changes have had zero effect on my rate of loss. I just need to be patient with 1.6KG/week and enjoy the ride. But if I look at a 500gm (1lbs) tub of butter or lard and I think that my body is metabolising 3 of these per week, I have to ask myself the question why I would expect more?

Others seem to have a "rate" of loss that seems fairly consistent after the first month. Some lose 1KG (2.2lbs) week some double that. However it does seem that those who are "morbidly obese" do seem to lose more faster, particularly at the start of the program.

Let me know of your experiences with the internet plan consultants. Personally I have been unhappy with the quality of responses from the internet program "consultants", this forum has so much more real world experience. Personally the internet consultants are providing services similar to an Indian outsource service, the most basic of responses that regular miss the question and dont offer any value at all.

My only advise is to say the program is as much a test of planning as it is of will power. Pinksultana for example prepare a lunch box to take to a wedding. It is most important to prepare a plan of your meals for each week or at least for the following day. I love Ziploc bags for individual portions of vegetables, meat, crackers for storage (and for freezing), also for the fact I need to keep fresh little bits of tomatos, onions etc

The Good Great Excellent and the oops

Yesterday I reached the half way mark on my journey, I'm now 31 done and 31 to go. it is a great feeling when you have nothing to wear cause all your clothes are to BIG instead of me being too big for them. I bought a denim jacket the other day and i cried cause it was a 16 and it fitted. I also have not been this weight for almost 18 years so my hubby is very excited at the new me already. People are reallhy starting to notice and comment that i look great.

Now for the oops :( - today at church i was busting  (you all know about that) so silly me rushed down a 50 step flight of stairs but i got caught on my pants that are now way too long and instead of walking down the stairs I fell down them   and have - way for it - i have broken bone fragments, torn liagments & muscles and to top it off jarred my knee, hip, shoulders and my but (tail bone). My family are having fun at my expense and they call it poetic justice.

Well I'm glad that exercise is not in great demand on this program or i would be stuffed in very sense of the word. My ankle is oh about 6 times the size it should be and bruises are the new black in my house this season. The doctor at the hospital wanted to plaster my ankle but we are going to wait till tomorrow as it is still pretty swollen and my own doc is much gentler than she was today.

Keep up the good work everyone

L J - good to see that you are back and doing so well.

Cheers for now as i need to ice, rest and winge!!   ;)

Hello Jewls

Wow! Congratulations on the half way mark! This is really cause for celebration and you see, you have been sent a rest although not, perhaps, in the way you would have imagined.

Sorry to hear about the fall. This is God telling you to take a rest, to do some serious retail therapy for clothes that fit, and to allow other people to provide care for you for a change.

There are some great 'market shops' in your neck of the woods. These are nearly as cheap as 'op shop' clothes, so treat yourself to at least two pairs of pants which fit, which are new, and which will be with you for the next 15 kilos.

Take your old, fat clothes to the nearest Brotherhood Bin - you wil never be needing them ever again.

Congratulations again on your wonderful success

Best wishes

Chelsea

Hanging Tough here.....

Hi Everyone,
Each day gets better and better on Cohens. I honestly believe that what they tell you to fix up your meals in advance makes your life so much more easier and it does. Today I weighed out my meat and vegetables and put them in the little sandwich bags for my meals in the next two weeks and at first it was tedious but then I looked the time it will save me preparing my meals. I have finally gotten over my headaches and beginning to feel really good now.
Soontobeskinny-Welcome to our forum, I'm a newby myself just starting on Cohens on Friday the 22nd of October. Everyone is very helpful and very supportive here. I wondered what the program was called in the states, now I know. I am originally from NC and here married to an Aussie, but soon to be a true blue Aussie getting my citizenship the first of the year.
Jewls-Aaahhh you poor baby...sorry that you got hurt, hope you will be back to as normal as you can be with a broken ankle, you are doing a fantastic job on Cohens...keep up the great job.
Babyegg.....Great Job there...Keep up the Good Work....
Lessfatty...I've been told by some of the people that lost the most each month that going exactly by the diet and not mixing or eating food during any other time of the day than what is on the schedule you will lose or can lose up to 20k per month, this is the mid point of weight loss, so I am sticking to this diet by the letter, gram, litre or exactly what it calls for during the day and especially the 5 hours between eating because this is the most important part. Good luck to you and I hope you lose your weight..
Take care everyone and hope all have had a good weekend.
CAP @Bribie

Hey LessFatty,

I'm losing on average 2.3kg a week, but I've been away lots recently (Darned Holidays ;) ) and whilst I've maintained the quantities and foods exactly, my times have been all over the place (catching planes will do that to ya).

I was averaging 2.5kg/wk prior to the last 4 weeks.

Maybe I'm losing more because I have more to lose :D

I hope it doesn't slow down, but time will tell.

asy :D

Hi Everyone,
WOW...you miss a few days and everybody shrinks just that little bit more!
I have to start all over tommorow at Day 1. I had a stomach bug for the better part of last week and haven't lost an ounce.:(

Have been on a big shop today and stocked up on my food and as I'm not working tommorow, will make up some meals and freeze them. I have a wedding to go to on November 12th and I want some weight off!

Growl at me if I deviate!

Good luck this week!:D

Feeling Huge

I'm so bummed out tonight!!
I'm not sure where to even start....I have been so crazy busy with work and also at nights all last week and then all day Sat and today my boyfriend and I have been painting his new hair salon in the city - massive job.
Even though I have been flat out, I have been eating right with only maybe a few grams over in vegies on one or two meals, and I have not been the greatest with the water this week, most days doing 2 litres but a couple of days only 1.5 litres!. So with all this in mind, the reason I'm bummed out is that I measured myself today as I do every Sunday and I have only lost about 2.5 cms (The first week I lost 10.5cm, 2nd week 8cm, third week 9cm) I feel and look bloated as I got my period tonight also! But the biggest bummer is - I have my blood test and FIRST weigh in tomorrow!!!! AARRGGHHH:mad::mad::mad: I feel like I have put on and not lost this week! The weight they take can't be a true weight can it considering my monthly cycle??? What happens in these situations??

Sorry to sound so pathetic!!:(

Hey Melly,

I wouldn't stress so much if I were you, my measurement loss goes in waves depending on cycle too. Also, the first few weeks are always more, then it settles in to what it will be ongoing.

My total losses, in the first few weeks were: 20, 8, 13, 7, then it settled down and I average 4-5cm a week loss from all different places.

Also, if you haven't been weighed all month, then the weight loss will correlate to the size loss (obviously), so, the first three weeks you will have lost lots, then this last week, not so much (as the first 3). But, remember, even this last week you lost a LOT MORE than you would have if you weren't on the programme. ;)

Stop panicking and ride the wave of weight loss. :)

The programme works. It REALLY works, so long as you stick with it. You have been sticking with the foods well, so you shouldn't have a problem. Yeah, OK, the water could be better, but shit, it's better than if you were doing nothing.

I made a suggestion a while ago, get yourself a water bottle, and try to drink the whole bottle in between meals. We have 6 meals a day, and if you have a 500ml bottle, that's 3 litres. If you have a 750ml bottle, that's 4.5 lt. That means you'll keep the water regular through the day, and if, for example, you get to morning tea and haven't drunk any water, you know that you need to try to drink the 500ml before/while you have your crispbreads. See?

asy :D
