Thanks all!

Thanks to all that responded - I knew that I would get faster answers here. I did finally get response back from Cohen's....

Regarding pricing:
The re-feeding is technically applicable only when you reach your target weight. If not reached in your 12 weeks program, you may take a 12 weeks continuation program for a reduced price of $179 and continue your program. You may get your re-feeding if reached during any 12 weeks program.
The costs we can think of are the $229 for your first 12 weeks program, $179 for every 12 weeks thereafter if applicable and the costs of your blood tests that you pay directly to the lab.

Regarding weight goal:
The target weight is up to you. We just recommend a target but you need to get the target your are comfortable with.

So as soon as I finish up this post, I'm going back to their website to do the registration form.

Momma Pajama - I'm with you on the kgs vs. lbs! Finally figured out how to covert those - now working on the grams vs. ounces. Glad to see that you have family doing this with you, that should help with both the mental and eating. As for me, I know it will be rough - both sides of the family live here and eating is involved in everything we do!

Oh and Mermaid Sister - you spring chicken w/ her HOTNESS!! :D Lordy, I'm just hoping that this 41 year old body will get past luke warm all the way to simmering!! ;) (Sorry, had to pick on you here - having just turned 41 yesterday I'm feeling a bit old!).

Ya'll have a good day!

HI All

Wll I went for my scan this afternoon, and discovered i have a 1cm gallstone that I have named Peter, after my doctor.:(

Doctor and hubby2b are both all for me having surgery to get rid of it, but I'm standing by the "leave it alone and it'll be fine" theory. I don't want to go and get surgery cos that means I'll probably have to go off Cohen's for some time, I haven't had that confirmed, but I don't believe this many calories would allow the body to heal itself properly, so the odds would be good I'd have to go off the diet.

I would need to have a massively bad attack to even contemplate that, cos the wedding is in 95 days, and i'm too vain, I want to look good for my wedding, at least a size 14. 20kg in 3 months, I can do it.

What I can't do is have a huge pigout. So if i follow my food plan to the letter, I should have no more attacks. The doc seemed to think it was more to do with the high fat intake in a short time, rather than the low cal diet that was the cause of the attack. Mnd you , it's supposed to be impacting on the neck of the gallbladder, so if it moves, there's nothing I can do to stop it.:(

Slinkee,

Well I dont want to rain on your parade or wedding day,but I think you should be careful with peter, peter can be a real pain!. Did you tell your doctor you are on a very low calorie diet?

However that being said did your Dr pete give you any drugs? If you talk with him/her again ask about taking (500~1000mg/day) at least this I believe will stop Peter getting bigger and will prevent further problems until you have finished Cohens.

BTW for those interested in chinese medicine, Urso is actually same active ingrediant as what chinese harvast in the anyone seen those greenpeace pictures miserable bears in the cages with tubes stuck into their body. Of course the drug Urso is made in a Lab not from the bear bile ..thank god!

Like my gallstones, what I believe is that Cohens didnt make Peter, but Peter has grown and will continue to grow on if you lose lots of weight at Cohen diet level/pace eg. 1.5KG or more per week.

Metabolism of fatty tissue creates excess cholesterol (the stuff of gallstones), this can be from either eating fatty tissue or from your body eating your fatty tissue! Imagine you are losing weight at 200gm/day (1.4KG/week) then your body would be need to dump a lot of excess cholestrol, pumping cholesterol rich saturated gall/bile into your gallbladder; the same amount of cholesterol as if you had eaten a 200gm lump of cow fat/pig fat every day.

Hey did anyone else get negativeness from family members when they decided to do this? my partner and my parents are angry at me cos 'Im wasting my money' and 'I won't stick to it' its really upsetting and is making me doubt not the program but myself... bastards

Mermaid Sister - Don't let them get to you! I find that people can be hard on you when trying to diet for a number of reasons. Basically they see you trying to improve yourself (and going to be SUCCESSFUL at it - I might add) making them feel bad for not improving themselves (not just in weight, but any area of their life). You've started this - now prove them wrong and finish it! You will feel terrifc and find that HOT bod inside you, you will improve your health, you will have more confidence in yourself which will carry over into every thing you do (work, family, love life, etc....). If you need to hear someone say that they believe in you - then come here among others that are doing the same thing - we can all support each other as we work to improve ourselves!! Keep you head up - BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!

I got told it was "crazy diet", "waste of money" and the most riling for me; "gullible and stupid".

Tough love; unless you have been force feed, you are fat because of what you choose to put in your mouth; you can be thinner/trimmer/fitter/sexier/whatever using the same idea, time to exercise personal choice! You choose of what foods you put in your mouth! If you choose right and exercise restraint for just few months; decide that each and every meal every day you WILL choose the Cohen meal (or in my case as close as possible) ; you WILL reach your goal. It's NOT easy, but nothing in adult life is easy.

Oh lessfatty, is less fatty today -1KG ...I am really feeling thinner now and it is now coming off my waist and my *tits* are shrinking! ....:D

Hi All,
Welcome to those of you who have made the decision to join Cohen's. You can do it - well done and good luck. Here's to a new happy skinny healthy us!

Just another quick question...I am concerned about these contracts people are discussing regarding extra payment if you don't reach your goal within 12 weeks. I thought I only paid the $680 which covered me until my contract end which is approx. 6 months. Have I missed something? As I am a little reluctant to fork out more money after 12 weeks. I'm in Brisbane...can anyone shed some light on the matter for me? Sorry - I'm probably a bit slow on the uptake...

Thanks.

8-2much
that's for the people doing the program over the internet.
YOu will have in you eating plan booklet how long you have been given to reach your goal weight. They work out 4kg a month, then 2 extra months for a safety guide.

You won't need to pay anymore

ps. great work on the first weigh in 8kg is fantastic!!:D

Hi Slinkee,

Thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated. And thanks also for the encouragement. I need all the help I can get! I was very pleased with that result as I was certain I had only lost around 6kg. So it was a lovely surprise.

Ok, Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.
Take Care,

Congrats for joining!!

Hey Guys great to have you here!
My husband still has a problem with me losing weight!
Maybe he thinks I'll run away and leave him? (never!) I know he hates change. But I tell myself that I don't care because I am the one I'm doing this for - ME! Its time to be selfish! And really your not because when you look after yourself, its easier to look after others!
The best part is wearing old clothes you left in your wardrobe! Today I have on a tshirt I bought when I was 16, and it was too tight. It fits me perfect today. Stay Positive - Its only for a season!:)

Mitmary

well done 43kgs is astounding, that is just so inspirational, by the rate ur going your going to have the best summer EVER!

ps. does anyone know if its true that new fat burns away easier than old fat? I keep getting told that but not sure, lessfatty, you seem to be learned when it comes to this stuff??

Just a ticker update
Glad to see everyone is doing well. For those who have deviated, dust yourself off and get back on.

Cheers Jewls

Starting Cohens Tomorrow

Hi Everyone, I'm starting the Cohens program tomorrow, but over the past few weeks I've been reading the postings that everyone has left and I've got to say your all so inspiring with your weight loss and I know the program works!!! So thankyou for all your inspiring messages.

Back On Track

Hi Everyone!

Big WELCOME to the newbies who have just discovered this amazing program and have decided to come on board. Always keep in mind that being so strict is for a short time, not a lifetime, but the habits you learn while on it will set you up for the rest of your life and you'll never be fat again.

Right, so, as of yesterday, I'm back on track after my major deviation. I was SO SICK  yesterday, I could hardly bring myself to eat my meals. Even water was enough to make me feel like throwing up. But I forced myself to eat all my meals because the book says never skip a meal. So I think the point here is.... if you majorly deviate and you're feeling okay on the day you do it, wait until the next day. Oh and I should mention what the sugar / wheat did to my mood - little ray of *sunshine* became a snappy bitch. I really have to stay away from that kind of food for the rest of my life.

Thanks BAM and ::dubschic:: for your support. I wish I only had 1 kit kat BAM, but there was the scotch fingers and the baklava! I didn't cry though.... in some strange way I thought "right, i've done it.. now I feel sane again and ready to carry on and lose the last few kilos".

And ::dubschic:: I know what you mean about the vino and the darts. This must be killing you! If you deviate (which hopefully you won't), it won't be with food, it'll be with alcohol! Cause I don't drink and I don't smoke, food is the only thing I have to indulge in when I feel like being naughty! But you'll be strong... you're a woman of steel (and a huge inspiration to me) once you set your mind on something.

Until the next ticker update ladies.... stay strong and focused and don't give in to scotch finger biscuits, kit kats, bbq chicken or baklava because believe me, you'll regret it the next day!

old fat versus new fat

HI Mermaid sister

I've heard lots of diet myths in my time, but this is a new one to me. :)

Maybe what they are trying to say is that the body does lose weight in a particular order, where you have the most concentration of fat will always be the last bit to slim down. At least that is the case for women, I know that I lose weight in this order; face, back, butt, b00bs, legs and belly.
Whereas most men tend to lose it in the reverse order that they put it on, example, if the last place they put weight on is their belly, that is the first place they will lose it from .

Don't worry, i didn't make this theory up myself, I read it in some fitness magazine, i just can't remember the name right now.

have a great time on Cohen's

ps. sorry to jump in on lessfatty's question

Hey everyone!

My Mom got her program today and I got my notice that my liver readings need to be looked at by my doctor. My liver readings were looked at by my doctor two weeks ago - that's why I am doing Cohen's - so I emailed them the copy of the blood work done by my doctor and let them know that I am under a doctor's care so hopefully - I will be getting my program soon. Anyway - my mom was reading through her program and had a question on cheese - it said Philadelphia cheese was allowed - does Philadelphia cheese mean cream cheese? Or is there some other type of cheese called philadelphia?

Talking to my Mom about the program I am soooo excited! I know I can do this - it is a peice of cake compared to some of the programs I have done in the past - believe me - I have put myself through some dousey's! (That is a weird word to spell - hope I got it right!) My mom only has 15 kg to lose so she is going to be in and out of here in no time! I on the other hand have 100kg to lose so you'll be seeing me for awhile! I have to lose 2/3rd's of my present self!! I have carried this excess for 12 and a half years now and I am ready for it to be gone for good! The weight came on all of a sudden when my hormones went whacky - (I also added a nice little beard at the same time!!) I have done sooo many diets trying to get my body and life back - getting heavier with each attempt. It has been so refreshing to find Cohen's and to hear him say it is a hormone imbalance - I finally feel I have found the answer to the biggest riddle!

Waiting to hear back from 1st - WISH ME LUCK!! (I REALLY want to start this week!!)

Momma Pajama

DonnaSV - thanks for the info - I am glad to hear about the $179 vs $229 - that's a nice discount. Hey - we are practically the same age - I'm 42 - which is only 24 if you are dyslexic!

Fabulous Morning

I know i said i only weigh monthly but i was feeling really light this morning and had to weigh myself :) and i have lost 2kg since friday!!!! Im stoked!! I now only have 17kg's to go and am hoping to have this done by end of Nov! Fingers crossed!

Keep up the great work everyone, im off fishing now i think...? xx

Anyway - my mom was reading through her program and had a question on cheese - it said Philadelphia cheese was allowed - does Philadelphia cheese mean cream cheese? Or is there some other type of cheese called philadelphia?

Philadelphia cheese is a brand name for a cream cheese made by Kraft foods in America, I think only the "lite" type is allowed.

Personally I hate the stuff and have Mozzeralla every cheese.

Good luck with your 100KG's! Remember you will start feeling better only 7days after starting!

BTW Whilst waiting for your plan, there is nothing stopping you starting eating JUST the Cohen foods on your mums plan only eat more.

Hi All. For some unexplainable reason I have been unable to post for over a week. The forum did not recognize me as being registered. Took a while but I have sorted that out. Have been keeping up to date with every ones progress.
Mermaid Sister: Spaghetti Marinara was/is also my favourite, given we live in the same city I am betting that we probably go to the same renown restraunt to enjoy it. I have found that while you are on this program you learn to be satisfied with things that are close to what are your favourites. I do a grilled prawn dish that I add to a small amount of tomatoe sauce that I make add chilli garlic basil parsley and then make thin strings (pasta like) zucchini that you can twirl. Taste very close to that spag marinara and its allowed on this program.
Mermaid sister and Fat no More :Mental preperation is very important when you start. Dont be influenced by what relies and and friends are saying just show them how it does work by sticking to it. The first three to seven days are the hardest but it really gets easier. Never loose sight of your goal and make some short term goals along the way. And as so any have said before IT DOES WORK. It is based on science and it most of it makes sense, just surrender to it get organized and try not to deviate because it can really slow things down. Water intake and sleep are also very important. Take the time to go back and read as much as you can of the forum lots of great knowledge and inspirational results here. BELIEVE YOU CAN BECAUSE YOU WILL.
Storm and 8-2much: Great results keep it up. The next two months are even more exciting as your wardrobe becomes obselte. Its so dramatic and very motivational.
Military 7: You blow me away your have achieved fantastic results. What is your plan of attack.Congratulations !!!!
Momma Pajama: Your decision to start this is one you wont regret. Make some short term goals and before you know it those numbers will be comming down. I have 66kg in total too loose and I felt this was overwhelming when I started, but I broke it down and 15 weeks later it all seems very possible. You can do it. Go back and read the forum there is a lady who has been on this for over a year I think her name is lizzy (sorry if I got it wrong) she has have amazing reults and talks about the issues that she has faced. I also heard about someone at my clinic who lost 98Kg in 14 months. You are not alone on this journey we all will be celebrating your losses and are here when you need help. Good Luck set your path and dont look back.
Philaadelphia Cheese. Do any of you in Australia have this on your list?

I have my 16 week blood test in one and a half weeks hoping for double figures by then but I think I will miss out 4.4kg loss in 11 days may be a bit much. October 7th is 4 calendar months so I will aim for that. This double figure goal seems to be a biggie, it also marks the half way point.
Beautiful weather here today better get out and enjoy it. Bye all.:)
