Actually the blood tests only check your sugar levels, cholestrol levels and thats it.Anyone who actually believes that rubbish about blood profiling has to be very stupid. 6 of my girlfriends and I all signed up for this program individually. When we all got our supposdely custom programs we got smart and checked our programs against each others. What do you think we found out? All the programs were identical down to the last gram of food. So tell me what does that mean? Blood profiling does not work. Just go to the nearest bookstore and see all the diet books that say blood profiling for diets does not work and is actually not able to be tested. I should know because I am a lab tech that does the test for all the doctors and there is no test for what they are claiming. So you are fooling your self if you believe their crap. Cohens taught me that there are still sheisters out there ripping gullible people off. You should also know that 4 of my girlfriends have finished the program including the refeeding and have all put the weight back on. My personal trainer was horrified at this diet because you loose your weight through massive muscle loss. I have swapped over to a 70% raw food lifestyle change and feel 100% better than I did on cohens. I have more energy and have lost 25kgs in 6 weeks. I highly recommend that you quit cohens now for your wellbeing. Have a great day.
Sheisters like who? like them! What logic is that, I feel I got ripped off so I will rip off others.
However, clearly there is a grain of truth mixed with a fabric of distortion. It is no surprise that I think that Cohens is 90% true mixed with 10% BS.
There is plenty of science that links the lower sugar levels with increased levels of seratonin hormone so Cohens score a A+ for that. Plenty of science that show the reduction in carbs combined with a reasonable level of protein reduces hunger levels and ablillity to "stay" on a diet (because you dont feel starved) again A+. As for Human Growth Hormone (HGH), well I couldnt find any science about the link between HGH and seratonin levels, but I am not a researcher, just an internet user! HGH however is very difficult to measure as adults only produce "pulses" a few times a day and these are very small and very difficult to measure. Low fat, low starches, sugars and salt, balancing out insulin levels well 50 years of science clearly true A+. I have doubts that the link between Seratonin and HGH based on his "private" research is a bit hard to accept, ie. it may or may not be true. As for the link between HGH and being overweight there seems to be some evidence fpr this I think Cohen score a "D" in my mind as it is inconculsive.
The first blood test has more indicators, I believe these are used by Dr Cohen to check that your are heathy enough for the program. I understand that there are further blood tests with less indicators (sorry I dont know) which I believe will be used by Dr Cohen to make sure your protein level is not too high or too low. I suspect that for a woment of a certain height and ideal weight there programs will be fairly similar or even identical, yet adjusted for the amount of protein (eg. Urea) found in the blood.
So believe blood profiling does work BUT it's not all that it is cracked up to be, as I believe it is more to do with setting the protien level to a resonable value, enough to keep you from feeling hungry, yet not too much to cause trouble for liver and kidneys (as suggested by Atkins diets detractors) with too much protein.
Actually if anyone wants to tell me there height and shoe size, I will try to guess your chicken or steak allowance.
So I think Cohens is basically a low calorie diet low in starches and other carbs, causing your body to enter Ketosis (switching burning fat rather than sugars) , proteins are kept to a reasonable level to make sure you dont feel hungry, (remember my comments that proteins are held in you stomach for a long time to be digested...hence you dont feel as hungry as with starches).
I believe blood tests are firstly to make sure you are healthy enough for the diet and secondarily to make sure your protien intake is not too high or too low.
