Water Vs Cola

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even mild dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that eight to ten glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on a computer screen or printed page.
8. Drinking five glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%. It can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

COLA

1. In many US States the highway patrol carries two gallons of cola in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of cola and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: pour a can of cola into the toilet bowl and let it sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in cola removes stains from vitreous china.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in cola.
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: pour a can of cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: apply a cloth soaked in cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To remove grease from clothes: empty a can of cola into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or cola?

Wow - now I finally know, why I don't like Cola.:D

Btw - did you know that drinking too much Cola puts your body in worse condition than drinking too much alcohol? At least that's what we were told in high school...

Rum and Coke - I can't imagine drinking that. Well I am not a Coke or Pepsi Fan, so I guess that drink would be out anyway, now mix some Orange Juice with the rum, that's another story. Or what's even better - if you don't have it too often - Brown Rum with Chocolate Milk mmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhh...Well this has obviously no place in a weight-loss-forum:D:D:D

your right, this may not be the proper place for this discussion, but at least i seem to have some support, and that's what's important :)

Water vs. Cola

There's nothing better than an ice cold Rum & Coke when you're sitting back at the cottage in front of an open fire next to the lake!

That's about the only good use for coke. I would much prefer to drink water and the occasional decaf coffee.

It's too bad the rest of the world didn't appreciate water as much!

I got the website from one of AllCdnBoy's postings. It's really neat. My daughter has made herself many faces for her many moods on ICQ. Just go to:

the instructions are in spanish (i think), but basically, you need to do the following:
- take a screen shot (alt+print screen -- top right of the keyboard)
- open up a photo editor of your choice
- ctrl+v and crop it down to just the image
- resize it to the largest dimension being 80 (height or width)
- save as .gif or .jpg

if you need any help, you can attach the full screenshot and i will edit it for you (Allcdnboy)

I didnt realize that coke or pop in general was that bad for u!! i wont be drinking pop ever again. i dont that often but that really keeps me away! Pinnapple juice is also very tasty with coconut rum by the way;). hehe

Coffee, Tea and Water

Can anyone tell me, why coffee is unhealthy, but green tea is healthy? And what about caffeine free coffee. According to the chart on the green tea package, decaff coffee has 5mg of caffeine per 8oz cup, green tea has 30mg and regular coffee has 90mg. That means that three cups of green tea would be just as bad as 1 cup of coffee. Yet I was always under the impression that green tea is very healthy and coffee is not.

i have no idea, but it does stain your teeth ... yuch! ... oh, and it's also addictive ... pretty much a waste of money too me ... food is already a horrible inconvenience ... why would i want to add something else to my day that i NEED to have ... :)

lucky for you AllCdnBoy...I started drinking coffee at an early age and I tried to quit before...but I never got past those first headaches. I don't like being addicted to it, but I do still like the taste, so I haven't tried quitting for a while. I am down to 1-2 mugs of regular coffee a day and even my regular coffee is usually half caffeine free. Anyway - no-one here can tell me why green tea is so much better? Come on guys, I am sure that someone knows.

What about diet caffeine-free coke??? Do you guys think it is any better? Or should I just keep away from the stuff???

there is a lot of other garbage that is introduced into these diet caffeine-free drinks to make them the way they are. You may not get the calories and whatever, but it's still not that good for you. I still think a nice glass of OJ or something along those lines tastes a whole lot better and does a good job of quenching one's thirst.

I understand that Green Tea is rich in anti-oxidents, which are thought to be cancer-preventative and all-over good things.

Me, I prefer a rich herbal tea - nutrutive value, lots of taste, and no caffeine.

Green Tea, etc.

Lisa, I'll ask Frank about the green tea thing today when I go shopping.

I take Green Tea capsules, which are supposedly healthy ...I hope that is the case

I DO know that both regular tea and Cofee cause dehydration and that one should drink one glass of water for every cup of either one. :(

Additionally, caffein helps to drain bone marrow (as does refined white sugar).:(

According to some experts, there simply is NO substitute for water. So they say that even if you are drinking herb tea, you are still supposed to drink water (so 8 cups of herb tea does not equal 8 cups of water.) ;)

Anyway, I'm going to find out about the gree tea thing ... will post later ...
