Club... 250-300?

Hey Kyle, good to see you posting here, good to have company. Its been mostly me and the cheer squad, lead by Amy, for a while.

Yes, we are at about the same weight, so lets find our way of this club together!

I saw on your diary you are beginning to figure out how to work things out with your wife, that is really good. Having her on your side, even if its not all the time, will be a great help. This place can provide support as well, but not like you can get from a good wife.

Thanks. I can't wait to get out of this club too! Under 250 is usually when I really start feeling stronger confidence in my appearance. And when we meet in the 200s club, let's blast through it too!

Hey Kyle, yes lets get out of this place!!

Its Monday, the day I start doing my weigh in. I will weigh this morning, then Tuesday and finally Wednesday and the post an average as my "official" weight for the week.

This morning looks real good, if this holds I should have a good weight loss to post on Wednesday! Of course the last 2 weeks Mondays always started out higher and my weight dropped on Tuesday and Wednesday, I know this week could be the other way round. No matter I am sure I'll feel good about it!

Good luck this week. My loss hass been slow. But I am also lifting weights. So I assume part of it is my muscle mass going up. I also struggle with the constant up and down on the scale. It's a little annoying to post and increase. I think I have to let go of my desire to see steady daily weight loss.

So I assume part of it is my muscle mass going up.

Unless a couple of criteria are met, most people cannot gain muscle while in calorie deficit for fat loss. To gain muscle size while in deficit you need to be very much obese and be new to lifting. From your photo, your obesity level is not huge. This however does not mean your not gaining strength, which does not require a growth in actual muscle size.

Ok. That excuse just got obliterated. Oh well, I guess I am just being impatient.

Well this morning looked good and I am now "officially" down 50 lbs to 270. This week was a bit different, Monday and Tuesday were lower than Wednesday, but my average was actually a bit below the 270, so I rounded up and here I am.

Breaking out of this place will still take a while, but the back door is starting to appear through the haze!

I love it!! Go, you!

Congratulations! 50 pounds! That's $200 in quarters! That's the average male bulldog! Good job!

I have been thinking a lot about your weigh-in method. I think it is a good idea. I've been weighing daily, but it can be a little upsetting.

Been having a stressful week with drama at home, but things are starting to calm down. Checking my weight today made me very happy as I reached 268.8, which is my first time under 270 since I started this current journey. It may fluctuate back up since my weight can go up or down quite dramatically from day to day. But I am very glad to see some progress. Less than 20 lbs. until I get kicked out of here!

Looks like Kyle has leaped out ahead in the race for the door! Good for you!

It was at first for me also, when I started this diet I weighed for the first time in a long time, now I weigh several times a day. I started kind of studying it, weighing often has helped me understand how much weight can fluctuate and some of the causes. In the end I think it has helped me.

It shows you how much of this work is about what's going on upstairs. That's also reflected by my posts about home life. Somehow it's not directly related to weight loss, but as human beings, it matters so much.

For all I know I could be back up to 270 tomorrow.
Doesn't matter, this is very much a two steps forward and one back process. What matters is sticking with it and heading down. I stepped on the scale when I got home tonight and was up about a pound and a half, but I know that its just what happens, I always weight more at night, It will probably be gone in the morning.

Its pretty much all about what goes on upstairs. I find reading and posting here helps keep my upstairs in a good place.

Yes, the upstairs is really major - our bodies do interact with our minds in really intriguing ways.

Congratulations on getting under the 270 mark, Kyle. It's great that you two are such good pace-setters for each other. (Is that what I mean? Like when two cyclists on the same team use each other to pace themselves through a long race.)

Back up to 273.2 today. Just giving you some freudenschade.
Last night I was at 271.5, this morning 268.5, it just happens...... Its the way we are, you need to look for longer term trends. Weighing every day has helped me understand.

Just giving you some freudenschade.
Had to look that one up, its a good word! No exactly comparable word in English that I know of. It's a German word meaning "Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others."

@alligatorob
Fortunately my tracking app has a trend function. That's really what I am counting on. For now it's 1.5lbs per week, which is a pretty decent trend in my opinion.

Can't wait to hear your weekly weigh-in results.
