Hi Everyone! This is the official thread to get some ideas going for the Christmas Challenge. I've tentatively got Nov 10th-Dec 21st as the dates. That makes it a 6wk challenge. Should be interesting since it covers Thanksgiving and ends just before Christmas. Because people tend to sign up and then disappear quickly, I'm not going to post a sign up thread until the week before the challenge begins.

One thing I'm interested in hearing is how you all want teams. We could:
1. form our own teams
2. I can draw random teams like we did for the Halloween Challenge
3. I can wait until the contest ends and then randomly form teams from the individuals who are still around and updating their info.

Also, if you have any ideas for weekly bonuses, please post them here. :)

Yay getting prepared! One thing I would have done differently is after a week
after the teams are formed if someone didn't check by the time of the 1st week thats went by DROP them and replace them with someone else.I couldn't tell ya how many peeps I turned away do to having teams already formed then the few that dropped.
Also check POST'S I had a few that said I wanna join and they had post only 1-3 times with NO diary and then even after I sent PM'S out they never answered them or EVEN post anymore so figure out a way to maybe deal with that!

One of the original challenge rules I tried to enforce make was you couldn't join unless you had at least xx amount of posts... the drop out rate on challenges is generally more than 50 percent of people who say they want to join it - that number goes up exponentially the longer the challenge is...

Make a kris kringle vs kristina kringle challenge - boys vs girls -and isnce you're doing percentages (becuase that's the only fair way to do it with weight loss) then it doesn't matter if there are 4 people or 40 people... its average percentage.

part of your challenge could be a kris kringle type challenge -where instead of buying gifts for people, send them "virtual gifts" and virtual cards - there are a bazillion sites out there that are free... start that in early december -when advent starts then each week of advent the team members have to gift other teams... making it "team building"

If you remeber the advent type calenders that kids had -where you'd open the door of a calendar there's be some little gift or piece of candy - create an advent type calendar thread where each day, a person has to post an inspirational quote - or something someone on their team did that was good... team that has the highest percentage of participation - gets awarded bonus points.

There are a lot more women than men in these challenges, so I don't if that would work too well.

we can do it based on b-days people born from Jan-june 1 team and the other july-dec or age groups 27 younger 1 team 28 older the other team and could be Kris kringle against Grinch Santa and elves vs rudolph and crew lol all great ideals gonnnna be fun I can't wait!

Bonuses will come to ya I thought up some while people were sighning up and had them ready.

Those are some good ideas. Also, we need team names. Here are a few ideas:
1. The Night Before Weigh-in
2. The Grinch Who Lost Inches
3. Santa's Slimmers
4. Low-fat Holidays

Cool names!!!!
1-frosty's weightloss
2-snowblowing the lbs
3-rudolph's "RED"team
4-Santa's Helpers
5-The keebler elves

I've never done anything re: this stuff..

What is the point of it all? What will we be doing/expected to do?

Let me know bc it sounds like fun!

:)

read some of the other challenge threads - it's basically being on a "team" that will encourage you to be the highest percentage of weight loss during a given time period.. and weekly bonus can be thrown in to get your team more points..

you win the admiration of your forum dwellers...

I would like to join this challenge! I like the names that Tammy came up with. ahhaa. so cute. I'll try to think of some ideas.

I've already shared some ideas in that PM, but want to reiterate the idea of EXTRA exercise the week after Thanksgiving as for most it is likely we just "may" go over our alotted calories that day :).

The teams names suggested are pretty good!
