Cecilia's Resolve

I think your idea with the new ticker is a GREAT plan. Maybe the number of pounds loss doesn't need to be the focus- If you are trying to make a lifestyle change, tracking your success in terms of forming good habits is FAR more important.

As far as the all or nothing mentality... that is tough to break. Maybe you need to have visual motivation for yourself. A picture or motivational phrase posted on your fridge or cabinets might help keep you in check before you start eating. Overall, you have to remind yourself that you can do this--- when you are having a craving or feeling down on yourself- jump online and post on this forum before you run to the kitchen and see if it helps!

Thank you soo much. I don't think you understand how much your support, and everyone's on here, is helping me (even if I keep letting myself/you down).

I feel like a hypocrite posting in your diaries and telling you to keep going :)o )

I think I'll try something visual...thanks for the tip :)

And I will DEFINITELY be posting a lot here, dontcha fear ;) :D

Hey buddy!

I too think the new ticker idea is awesome. Honestly, I think that is more of a motivation than a "pound" ticker. And it seems like a really good way to track personal goals...different but cool. Sounds like you are doing great! Hope you're having a good day!

Hey Ava!

I've been reading some diaries and I'm definitely feeling motivated!

The thing is,except for the days when I just throw in the towel and eat badly (and a lot) the rest of the day, comforted with "I'll start tomorrow", I eat well and excercise a lot...man, if I just learned moderation right I'd be a beanpole!

Haha, yes. I am not good with moderation either. If I were, I too would not have a weight problem. But I'm learning...slowly. But slow and steady wins the race!

Hi, Cecilia! "Mental" ... boy, that's the demon where I'm concerned. It seems that whenever I'm around junk food ... or go out for lunch or dinner ... or stop by the store for groceries, my brain just sabatoges me and I can't stop making bad choices. I guess that's why I'm a binger. My conscience knows better, but my brain just keeps telling me to eat, eat, eat. You know that commercial where the guy has an angel on one shoulder telling him to do good and a devil on the other shoulder telling him to be bad? Well, right now my devil definitely outshouts my angel! :) So you're not alone in your thinking. Just keep trying and celebrating your small steps. Hang in there!

You have a great attitude and great motivation.. You gotta keep your head up and your legs moving!! have a GREAT day and drink your WATER!!! I'll be back to check on ya..:D

Hey Cecillia hope you had a nice day today (well I expect you still have a bit of the day to go, or maybe it's already in the wee small hours of the morning there - I really have no idea).

Don't beat yourself up too much on the slip ups, just keep telling yourself there is no reason for you not to stick to your eating plan (this is what I do).

Hope tommorow brings better results for you!:)

dhillygal - I'm determined to listen to only the health-food-loving angel standing on my left shoulder now ;) :p

jelly - thanks for the comment, I love your water reminders!!:D

Crunchie - as I'm typing it's almost 10...I'm dead, should reawlly start working on that "beauty sleep"... Thanks for the encouragement!

Well, it's been a long day...

I ran 3 miles :)

And, as Ava has done, I'm going to disregard exact calorie values for the foods I'll be eating and eat sensibly, letting hunger be my guide...

B-fast

Plain, fat free yogurt with some fresh strawberries and some Bran cereal flakes

Lunch

Whole-wheat pita with turkey and vinagretted tomato slices (yum!) + an apple

Snack

Felt like crunchy veggies - some carrots and celery

Dinner

My mother's special green bean quiche with tomato...rather high in calories, but I only had one slice :).

I'm going to sleep - love you all!!

Cecilia! Congrats on an awesome (and seemingly yummy!) day! Awesome job with the running too! Isn't it nice not to have to keep track of every calorie that you consume? Made my day easier!

Cecilia,

Glad you had a good day. Just wanted to say I think stopping a binge is huge. It is really hard to do. Your doing great.

I'm working on dispersing my meals throughout the day so that I'm able to have lots of energy for my run/workout without adding extra calories....for example, I sort of have to eat lunch around the time my family does (and with them) - that would be around 2ish. Now, if I ran at 4 that'd be perfect, because I'd have all the energy from lunch...but since I run around 5:30, I'm usually feeling an energy drop around the time...make any sense?

I don't really want to add any more calories...maybe half an apple should do the trick though...hmm...

Sounds like your doing great! I have trouble with the energy too, but maybe drink a half cup of black coffee.....does the trick for me....doesnt taste very good but its better than gettin it from carbs or a sugar rush, and my personal trainer said a cup of black coffee isnt bad for us.

Stone  Black coffee is SO good. But then again, this is coming from a former coffee addict who used to drink 5 cups of black coffee each day. .

Dispersing your meals sounds like a great idea Cecilia. It's important to have that energy for running. Oh, and congrats on your first binge-free day! :D .

Oh I completely relate! I am now able to work out in th a.m., which I like. But before I used to work out in the afternoons at 5 or so. It was so hard to balance out eating enough so I wasn't shakey vs. eating too much so I got a cramp in my side. Ugh! Err on the side of eating too much, though. Someone passed out in Kickboxing awhile back b/c she hadn't eaten enough. It was NOT pretty! Bumped her head and is having all kinds of problems that could've been avoided had she eaten something.
Keep up the great exercise routine! Running is great!

Hmm...thanks for the coffe suggestion! I wonder if green tea would work as well... :p I'll let you know!

I love coffee...usually with a little skim milk and splenda...but I'm trying to cut it out of my diet just because I feel like the caffeine's not good for me...(hmph) - I onyl have coffee on weekends now

I've been trying to cut out caffeine too... it is SO hard! I used to go to Starbucks every morning before work and have a Coke Zero with lunch every day and another pop/coffee with dinner. GOOD LUCK!

I think you're right about caffeine not being good (and you're talking to amajor caffeine addict) While most all weight loss pills have caffeine in them, I've read some studies that it actually has the opposite effect...

Some green teas do have caffeine in them... Yogi Teas makes a green chai tea that's got some caffeine, but not as much as coffee, andit's not as bland as some of the othergree teas out there..

i like lived off of coffee while at syracuse, but so far this summer, i dont think i've had any. its bc at cuse, i'd have this routine of going to my first class, and then in my break going straight to dunkin donuts and getting their vanilla coffee (which i miss so much right now, we dont have many dunkin donuts where i live) the thing was that the dunkin donuts was in the student center, so it was like a hotspot where you could run into people, so i just became addicted. but now that i've cut it out, i find that i'm not really craving it. all i drink these days is water and green tea in the morning, and a diet coke like once every 2 weeks or something. i hope green tea isn't too full of caffine? lol
