Glad Archie recovered quickly. Funny that you feel you're halfway through winter: for me it feels likethe worst of summer is just starting. Even yesterday was more bearable than the forecast said. Long may it remain so...
 
There is a problem with the forum today. I wasn't able to type anything into a new post. I worked out I could by clicking on "reply" & then deleting the quote. I also can't edit.
Seems to be back to normal for me tonight.

It's a very cold morning, Llama. I try to tell myself we're halfway through winter. I fished out my polar fleece pants this morning ☃️
 
Wow, you're doing so well with walks with the temp so cold! Glad Archie is better, too!! Have you weighed to see if the week of not recording food went ok? I hope it went great!!!
 
Hi, M. I have weighed myself & it’s not good! We have been eating too much warm, comforting food, like curries & casseroles, too many sweets…
 
Thanks, LaMa & Marsia. I do have to nip it in the bud. I thought not drinking alcohol for the month would help a little, but I have been compensating with other things. It can't continue.
I am having trouble connecting my laptop to the internet lately. My hotspot isn't working. I just managed to then but by plugging in via a cord.
I just got back from a 1.5 km walk & about to have some herbal tea. Arch looks pooped. It's his second walk of the day. G took him this morning as I felt really tired & a little bit under the weather.
 
Oh dear: I hope you don't get sick! I generally overdo it with the sweets when I try to quit Pepsi Max cold turkey. It's hard not to compensate with other things that go into your mouth 🤷‍♀️
 
Sorry your feeling under the weather. Please don't worry too much about weight and just get better! I am having to weigh every day if I don't record calories (I just forget to record it here most days). Otherwise I eat a little more each day until I am back at the level where I slightly gain every day. I wonder if me trying to not have much sugar, if any, is similar to you with wine? If I don't note each instance I eat sugar and treat it as an infrequent treat, it just slips back into my diet and makes things harder. It could be really good that you are doing a Dry July to start with zero wine. Then maybe it's easier to figure out how much wine you can handle back into your diet later?

Sorry to hear the scales aren't moving the way you'd like. I do think staying off the wine is doing you good, even though evidence of that would be nice! Don't lose ❤️.

Thanks, M. I have been having a bit here & a bit there & that is what has happened. I'll go back to counting calories at the start of August, but am going to cut the sweets right down as of today. I just had a down moment yesterday & am fine again today.

I think it is too, Em. I'll have to work out strategies after this month to stay drinking less, but I think counting calories will help.
Edit: I started tracking calories as of today. Why wait until August?

I feel like the story of the 'Eureka' moment that guy had in the bath has set me back years.
 
I actually don’t understand the guy in the bath reference Em. Is it from a movie?
The ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, physicist, and all-around genious Archimedes is said to have discovered the principle of buoyancy while taking a bath and got so exited that he jumped out and ran naked on the streets shouting "Eureka", "I found it". :)

Long time no see...i vanished from the diaries when I had a bunch of computer issues and couldn't get in anymore...and when i got the issues sorted i couldn't access my acct and so disappeared...but I'm back and nice to visit you here again.
I see you've been feeling a little under the weather--i hope you're feeling better...
And you're trying to get back to calorie counting--me too. Re-gained a lot of what I lost previously. No time like the present to start again!
Looking forward to trying to stay back in touch on here and to make good health gains together!

It's lovely having you back, Liza. I think I'm a bit under the weather still from having covid last month, although we didn't have it badly. My body is probably still shaking (sneezing) it off.
I'll go do my calorie counting right now. I'm trying hard to get back into it. I know I need to. I have had a couple of good eating days & now need to work on some more exercise as well I think.
 
Thanks, Em. I'm going to add more "recipes" to MFP to make it easier to log & tidy it up a bit. I have inputted yesterday's food & this morning's breakfast of avocado & eggs on sourdough Spelt toast. Yum! Lunch is going to be curried chicken, curried veg & a little rice. Dinner might just be crackers, cheese & salad.
The Covid clouds are only light ones.
