Cate's Diary

You're getting AstraZeneca as well then? It's sooo looong!
I know! I feel that we have to take what’s on offer, but I would much rather the Pfizer.

I don´t think we do, either, but even if we did at this point I´d need one more shot either way so it doesn´t matter.

I have stacked it with a mix of 60’s & 70’s music & I always have my portable speaker & can connect to my Spotify. We have to have music :)
For sure--it's all about the music on road trips!
So great that you have your vaccination appt.

We have also made a camper decision, we have ordered a very small travel trailer, or I believe you say caravan. Probably not much bigger useable space than your van. It was a hard decision, but in the end I decided I would rather not own another car, and for longer trips being able to unhook from the trailer and drive around more easily was attractive. We don't get ours until May or so, they are way backed up on things here. I will probably post pictures when we get it.
Hi Rob! Yes, please post pics. We are still deciding between a 5th wheel and a camper van. Can't wait to see your set up!

Cate, nice you have fun CDs for the van! I've been getting rid of 8 track tape players and such in my mom's house, and even an antique radio that still works. Anyway, really nice you'll have tunes to groove to in your van!

We can't get any shots yet here, but good to know it takes forever between shots, so we can plan around vacations and things.

True.

Betsy is a bit noisy, but music is definitely a must for road trips. I think I’ll start paying for Spotify soon as I’m listening to it more & more & the sound from my little speaker is excellent. I’m relieved to be getting the vax.

I would rather have a sound system with USB ports but will leave it as is for now. At least we’ll get to keep playing our cd’s.
I hope you can get your jabs soon.

G has just gone off for another game of golf. I said he could take my car. We think we’ll sell his old car as it’s the least economical & is manual, but it’s registered until Dec so that gives us time to decide.
Arch has a very upset stomach this morning. Apparently G gave him quite a lot of pizza crust on Sunday! I think, like me, he can’t tolerate gluten well. My stomach feels clogged up. Maybe I should go eat some grass

It was just crust, LaMa, with nothing at all on it. He was on a grain free diet when I got him, due to stress-related UTI’s.

Glad Archie's feeling better--poor little guy.
I am always so impressed at our access to music nowadays. So much variety!
I like too that you make an effort to support local live shows too though--so important to support our local musicians as well.

Thanks, Liza. Archie's really good again. No people food for him. I'll keep reminding G.
I love music & love most genres, with the possible exception of opera and heavy metal. I can cope with some rap/hip-hop (like Urthboy) & don't just stick to the music I grew up with. I love a lot of blues & rock & some country/rock. Just about anything live is worth seeing. We have so many musicians & artists in this little state of ours & we will start going to music festivals now we have Betsy. They have to be dog-friendly too, of course.
R has been feeling a bit stressed. He signed a conditional contract on a block of land with a "granny flat" on it in the lovely town he is currently living in & it looks like the owner has been stretching the truth about permissions. He will either negotiate a much-reduced price this morning or get out of the contract. I hope he walks away from it really as he isn't in love with it. I think I would feel happier for him to find something that he loves & would suit him better. The decision needs to be made before lunch today. He does not need the stress. His new job has stepped up as well & while he loves it, it does sound high pressure to me. I think he needs us to go down there to see him soon.
It's raining here today & G & I will have a lazy inside day.

Thanks, Tru. His last message was good. I think he seems ok whichever way it goes. I love how both of our sons have very strong ethics. R has bumped his own board up to double. He told me his reasoning & it’s sound. He has a very strong sense of right & wrong.
I don’t think this rain is going to stop...

G lit the fire yesterday as it really chilled off, but then we let it go out last night again. It was cozy.
It's a bit of a bleak looking day today but is supposed to clear. I missed walking yesterday. I took Arch out briefly when the rain stopped at about 6 pm. I really must get some wet weather gear. I wore a pair of G's shoes, but my feet hurt.
We're planning our first night away as a practice run, & it may be somewhere not very far away. We do need fine weather though. I practised peeing into a small bucket yesterday. Hmm. I will check out little portable potties. I could do it, but....I'm not so sure about the middle of the night.
In a month G is playing golf right next to a camping ground that is right near the beach & that may be trip 2 we think as we don't want to wait a month.
Hopefully, R will find out about his offer today as that may become trip 1 or 2. I would quite like it if we stayed near him first time.

I did laugh at this. :D Next to a tree might work just as well. Lol.
Ahh, but I want to be able to pee inside the van during the night & not go outside. We'll have his and hers buckets I think. I don't want Arch escaping & having to put shoes on etc.
Hope R makes the best decision for him. It's difficult to not be 'sure' of things, I definitely understand that.
I forgot to say he made a much lower offer & will walk away if they don't accept it. He seems good with either choice, so therefore so am I.

We went into town as we had a list a mile long & got everything on our list including a doona cover for our bed in Betsy. I wanted to go full hippy with the van & found a beautiful multi-coloured cover. I love it! It's currently soaking in bicarb soda & vinegar to remove any residual smells. I now need to buy some brightly coloured pillow covers. Burgundy or purple will match- maybe plain though. Meanwhile, I'll use the organic cotton ones I have. I also want some cushions and covers. With Betsy, I am going to use what I have & only buy from op shops & try not to buy anything brand new for her. I'm looking for small melamine plates & bowls, but am using up paper plates that I have had for years & some bamboo plates to go under them. I am having fun getting her set up :)

Hi Cate! Glad Archie and R are doing well!! I hope it works out well with the property. I wasn't sure what bumping the board up to double means, so didn't quite follow. Fixing up the van sounds so fun! Are the cabinet doors latched well so things don't fall out while you are traveling? I am going to pack my metal enameled plates and cups in a cooler where I can find them so if we get a camper van, I have my camping dishes where I can find them! Wait until you see how darned many kinds of little toilets there are for camper vans. It's kinda overwhelming!
