Cate's Diary

It was lovely, LaMa. The knee is good today.

So great to get out and enjoy a good walk and catch up with friends. And so great that your knee was fine with it too.
That's a lot of steps!

Thanks, LaMa & Liza. My knee is very slowly getting better, thank goodness. It's not many steps compared to lots of people, but I'm trying not to compare myself to other people. Doing 5000 + is what I'm aiming for until my knee is better. My appointment with the ortho is next Wednesday. I'm looking forward to an expert opinion.
I meant to weigh myself before breakfast this morning as I feel like I have lost something. I am way less bloated I know & having my stomach less distended has me feeling much better. Also, we bought some beautiful cherries the other day & have been eating quite a few each day. I think cherries are feel-good fruit. They are for me anyway.

yum! yay to cherry o'clock!
So great to hear about your knee continuing to improve. To be able to get back to more and more pain-free walking sounds so great.
And, yes, yay to a less bloated stomach--that always feels much better!

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits as well. The local ones here come in before peaches so timing is good. We froze a bunch last year and are still eating them. I think the freezing was your suggestion. My wife says she likes the frozen ones better than fresh, I don't know to me they are different but equally good. Are you able to get some into your freezer while they are ripe?

Hope the knee improvements continue.

Hi, Liza. My knee feels better some days & then the next I wake & it's hurting. It has been raining & I think that may be arthritis. Oh well. I'm looking forward to seeing the ortho to see what he thinks I need doing. The less bloated stomach feels SO much better.
Hi, Rob. I did recommend freezing cherries, but I much prefer them fresh. I may freeze some if I see any cheapish ones. Do you pit yours or leave them in? I hope the knee will continue to improve. I am getting just a little bit impatient I must admit & am missing golf. If he gives me the ok I think I'll start going out to have a hit on my own- just a few holes at a time.

I completely understand wanting to play and not being allowed - but it's a great sign of healing that you have the oomph that wants to get going again. Hope you get the all clear very soon!

I think - if you want to compare - think of yourself as the cherries that you love. Would a cherry ever want to be an orange? Both are amazing in their own right. We need all types of fruit and we need all types of people! Enjoy the weekend Cate. :)

Thanks, Em :grouphug:
I love your analogy. At first, I said, "I'm more like a pear & I don't much like pears" (meaning pear-shaped) :( & then I pulled myself up. I'm a cherry. I love cherries :)
I felt like I had a lazy day, but I walked Arch & then bathed him, washed both our cars & cleaned the garage. Not so bad. Tomorrow I'll walk more. I think I'll talk G into going to a market with me. I heard a whisper on Wednesday that one of my favourite humans has breast cancer & I know I would "bump into" her if I go to this market as she organised it. I love this woman.

For the record: a nice, ripe pear, with a bit of lettuce, and blue cheese, is pretty much unbeatable.
I hope your friend is ok and you "spontaneously" run into her.
That is true, LaMa. I do love cheese with fruit!
I will “ run into” her I’m sure. She is a very special person.

We were sitting outside reading at about 6.30 pm when Arch jumped up & started barking loudly. I looked & thought I saw something light coloured. Then it moved. G & I went to check & it was a fat snake about 4’ long. It slithered into the rock garden. I won’t be walking up that way any time soon, especially with Arch! D is going to see if he can catch it tomorrow night when he comes up for dinner.

Hi Cate! So nice you have a snake catcher in the family! You are doing so wonderful, and it's so good to hear you got to catch up with friends on the golf course. It's wonderful you feel healed up enough to start golfing a bit again!!! I am a fellow blueberry, and I like the analogy about not comparing oranges to cherries! Pear and blue cheese - yuuuuuum!! Blue cheese does something to me where I feel happier after eating it. If I am feeling blue and I eat blue cheese, I always feel better. When do you see the Ortho?

That seems like a good sign that Archie knew to alert you all to the snake and the he seems to know it as a danger. Hopefully that means he knows to keep his distance from them!
I hope your friend is all right.
And i hope you are given the ok to ease back into a bit of golf at least...
