Well, Nutty Buddy, I think you either need some glasses or you are seeing a different number than me! :p ;) From what I am reading, you have 1,712 and I have 1,717. (Well, this will be 1,718.) But it really doesn't matter anyway, I was just teasing, silly! :p

Keep the PB flowing indeed! :D

Hope you have a great day tomorrow! I know what you mean about the drive and the kids! ;)

Hmmm. Yeah, whats up with that?!?!?! :p :D JK!!!! :D

You know, I could have sworn I answered this, but now I don't see it anywhere. Anyway, most of the time when I think about calling, I am afraid that I am going to call when you are busy. Let's get together and plan a time that we will both be relatively un-busy! Lol! ;)

Hope you are having a great time! :D

Hi Cassie!
I've lost track of your actual progress with all the Nemo talk - lol! I'm sure you're doing great and leaping toward your goals!! (or swimming quickly?)

Well, the graduation party was all right. Too many people I haven't seen for too long crammed in a too tiny house, but it was fun :D My mother in law thinks I'm going to tie her up (you had to be there - too funny!) and my father in law thinks I'm the can do no wrong since I bring chocolate to him so his kids were blaming things on me so they wouldn't get into it! LOL It was fun. I love hubby's side of the family but I dont' get to see them too often and they never come here :(

Nuthead, I know you were teasing, silly!!! LOL :D I am NEVER too busy to talk to you! Well, if I'm in the building at work I won't even know you called since it doesn't ring in there  Your best bet is anytime after 5pm my time but before 9 (so thats.... what? after 4 and before 8 your time???) :D I have my phone with me all the time :D

Laurel, I hate to say it, but I have been stuck for the last 5 weeks at the same weight and I really don't know if I'll be less this week :( Maybe this break from WW was a bad idea  I haven't been TERRIBLE but I dont' feel like I have been doing as good, food wise, as normal.. The festivities today didn't help since there was NOTHING considered light to eat. You know, the burgers w/ cheese, dogs w/ white buns, reg. mayo in the salads and only soda to drink. Oh! Can't forget the graduates cake (well large cookies in this case) and brownies for dessert! *sigh* I really wish I could get below this danged number! PHEW! Didn't realize it bugged me so bad! LOL Sorry!

k, gotta run. Going to try to get to a few diaries to day and the rest tomorrow :D

Nutty Buddy! What are you thinking? Give the break from WW a chance! Today may have hurt just a little but I do think taking a short break will help you. You were losing weight like crazy when you first started on it, but I really think your body just adjusted to it. Wait a couple of weeks and then try again and the weight will probably go like before. Come on, I'm wise and all, remember? ;) And don't beat yourself up about today! It was a special occasion and you don't get to see them often. Besides, you never have cheat days, so don't worry about this one. Ok, can I stop griping at you now or do you need more? Lol! :D :D

Nutty Buddy, have I told you lately that I love you?! LOL Well, I do :D I don't mind the griping - I need it sometimes :D I guess the break only bugs me so badly because I am NOT writing things down so I have no real way to "monitor" myself - I'm not used to that  As for not writing down my food, at first it was b/c I was eating the same things over and over so nothing ever really changed. Then it was b/c I am taking a break from writing things down for WW so it never really occurred to me to write it down here since it would kinda be the same thing  I know, I'm a bad toadie :) I will do that though :D Promise :D

Today is yet another rainy day. So far I have gotten a response from one half of my "dinner party" - not able to make it. *sigh* I haven't seem them for more than a few minutes at a time in over a year (I used to see them for hours at a time for 4 years) and we've been trying to get together for dinner for quite a bit of that year :( Oh well, I still am going to clean my fanny off since I have to clean my neighbors house as well and still have to hear back from the other half of the dinner party. I plan on using the cleaning today as my exercise since there is over 6 hours of it to do between our house and the neighbors (mostly at his house)

will visit diaries later today - it may be a bit today before I'm back but I WILL be back :D

Hey Mr (Mrs) Grumpy Gills! :p ;) Since you explain it like that, I won't gripe too much (more) for not writing everything down. As long as you are still eating healthy. Come to think of it, I haven't been writing mine down either. Sorry to hear about the dinner party. Off on a tangent here but if you are inviting 2 other "couples" wouldn't one couple be 1/3 of your dinner party? You and your husband are going to be there, aren't you? Lol! Anyhoo, I hope you have a great day even if you are completely swamped with cleaning. :D

I had the same problem with dinner parties this weekend. I said I'd cook for all the girls that were in my common room at school so invited them all last week. Sent out 7 texts and only 4 replied and 2 of them said they couldn't come. When the two that did want to come arrived they said they'd prefer take away pizza so that's what we did in the end.

By the way what are you referring to as your "fanny"? In Scotland that word is used to describe a womans privates!

LMAO!!! You can gripe all ya wanna :D I don't mind in the least :D I am eating healthy - I promise! Well, except for yesterdays party - there weren't any healthy options and I was hungry  Yes, 1/3 of my dinner party is here! LOL Thats one way to look at it! :D:D I spent 3 hours at the neighbors today and will start on this place pretty quick. I just got back and I need a break  I spent all of the time I was there cleaning his pantry!!!! His wife stocked SO MUCH STUFF!!! I ended up with all that was good - some stuff was unidentifiable she'd had it for so long! Sheesh! Next time, its the canned goods pantry! LOL I can see me coming home with tons of that stuff, too! Oh well, I don't have to shop so often and he doesn't have around what he doesnt use. :D

Well, Crunchie, guess it wasnt' the weekend for dinner parties, huh?

LMAO!! "fanny" is our butt or rear-end :D Mines too big so I'm trying to work it off :D :D Ahhh, if only it were that simple!!! LOL Just goes to show that all words in all lanuages do NOT mean the same thing ;) hehehhehe

Uh oh! We're invited to a dinner party of sorts tonight. Kids will be present, though, so it'll be nutso! Unfortunately, enchiladas are the menu. I'm bringing a nice, healthy salad and berries for dessert. Yay me! It's so funny - way back when I begged this little group of friends to go to healthy places w/ me when we went out to lunch. They always wanted to go to the fattiest Mexican restaurant EVER. I would beg ... Well, Last time one of them suggested going to lunch, she said that we have to eat salad b/c none of her clothes are fitting her. I don't know why I thought that was funny! I had just fought so hard to get us to a healthier place. Oh well! Now that I've typed it, it really isn't funny at all. Sorry!!!

Enjoy your WW break. It's probably a very good thing. I'm on one as well. It does get old counting those damned (sorry) points all the time!

LMAO @ fanny! :D :D

Well, did the rest of your dinner party show up? If you look at it the way I mentioned, then (if they did) 2/3 of your dinner party was there. Now, isn't that better than saying 1/2 came? Lol! :p

Laurel, how did the dinner party go? Great job bringing healthy options :D I can't say that I really "enjoyed" my WW break - I was supposed to do it for 2 weeks but now I'm not so sure  (read the end)

Nutty BUddy, it ended up just being hubby, me and the kids  We are going to try for next weekend. I hope.

Well, I weighed in this morning and that nasty box told me I GAINED 2.4 pounds  I am so bummed! I really was hoping that the break would do me good and now I'm not sure I want to continue with the next weeks break I had planned :( It may be b/c we ate dinner really late, but all I had was a piece of chicken (maybe 5 oz) and a LF, Lcarb cookie then sucked in water like it was going out of style. Well, off to reluctantly change my ticker :(

Allright Cassie, it's my turn to nag you a little. If that nasty little box is giving you bigger numbers it's time to look at what's happening. You don't need to go back on WW, but you do need to write everything down. I KNOW I personally eat a lot more when I'm not writing it down. It's less conscious, and we need to be conscious of what we're doing to ourselves. A cheat day won't hurt in the long term, and at least for me, it takes a few days (at least two) to "eliminate" all that extra food (literally) from my system. Then my weight goes back to normal. There's the salt for one thing, but when you overeat, even if it's not enough to gain a pound, you can still have eaten more than a pound of food that your body hangs on to for a little bit. If you ate red meat (hamburgers anyone?) then that hangs out in your colon for up to 5 days, no joke. So don't worry about the 2.4 pounds, it'll be gone in a few days as long as you go back to healthy eating habits. Do worry about the long term and start writing it all down for us at least... but more for yourself. I don't wanna nag you too much, but this is "tough love" and sometimes we all need it. Shape up, girlie! A self-imposed plateau is fine, but you still should watch what's going on so you know what to begin changing when you're ready. :)

I second MP! Tough love! :D I've already told you what I think about the "gain" so I won't repeat it.

Red meat hangs out in your colon for 5 days? Yuck!

Too bad I don't live close enough to come to your dinner parties! We'd probably be laughing too hard to eat! :p

Hello Bize! Did you see Beagle trying to dust us? I've been away too long, need to get back on the ball here.

Thanks for checking on me. I see you are still holding strong at 181. Let's get it going on here, we need to comeback. haha

Miss ya!

MP, give me all the "tough love" ya wanna :D I tend to forget what I already know unless its "drilled" into me so to speak  So go for it! :D I actually DID eat red meat for the first time in ages (at least 6 months I think) on saturday. 5 days?!?!?! OMGoodness! No more for me for another really long while!!! :D I think I will write my food down for "me" instead of points ;)

Nuthead, you can repeat anything you wanna! If you came to my dinner parties, at least I'd have someone to eat healthy with! LOL IF we got to eat at all!!!! :D They say laughter IS the best "medicine" so it must be the best weight loss "method"!!!! :D

MissJ, I DID see da Pooty Tat!!! Unfortunately, its at 183.7 now!!! :( But dat "mean" ol' Pooty Tat ain't gonna get us! No siree!!!! :D We can git her! LOL

Okay, b/c its for me...

oriental dressing

Maybe it's because you are not exercising as much? A p.t. at the gym said that in order for it to burn fat you have to do cardio for 40 min. straight: no less. Run, walk (esp. hills), exercise videos, etc.
I have found that with both exercise and diet the weight comes off, with exercise alone I can maintain, with diet alone (no exercise) I usually gain slightly.

I always have to chime in, and here I go again: your personal trainer was mostly right, but giving you an incomplete picture. There is a threshold at over 20 minutes of consistent cardio activity where you will have burned out all your blood & liver glucose and your body will have to switch to an alternate source of fuel. The problem here is that if you don't lift weights enough to at least maintain muscle mass, the preferred fuel is actually muscle, not fat.

The "long slow burn" that people talk about is based on heart rate. To burn fat OPTIMALLY for any period of time 5 minutes or more, you just need to get your heart rate in to 60-75% of it's max (roughly 220-your age) above 75% you're using glucose more than fat - if you have no glucose you'll use more fat (or possibly get dizzy). Above 90% is generally considered dangerous for most people. So my lecture, as always, comes back to protecting your muscles. Women can't "bulk up" without steroids, pseudo-testosterone supplements, or 5+ hours a day in the weight room to "naturally" stimulate testosterone increases. If you don't want to put on muscle, but you do want to burn fat, you have to at least do enough weight training to preserve the muscle you have. If you don't, your body will opt to break down the muscle because it's more "expensive" to maintain than fat stores. If anyone has any questions about this subject, feel free to ask. I made a quite a research project of it & I'm very seriously considering writing a book on the interaction between nutrition & exercise.

So the moral of this story is that if you can't exercise for 40 minutes at a time, don't worry because you can still burn fat for 5, 10, 15 min. at a time. You will, in fact, use a certain percentage more fat if you can get MORE THAN 20 minutes in, but this isn't an all or nothing proposition. I almost never get more than 20 minutes of cardio in at a stretch, and I've gone from 33% to 23% body fat myself exercising in this way (with lots of weight training). I probably could do with longer cardio sessions once or twice a week, but I don't enjoy them and would rather not be bored. That's what my lazy movie-time stationary bike ride is for (that's about once a week).

Hope that helps, I'm not trying to be a bore, I just think everyone needs as much information as possible. The more I learn, the harder I find it to treat myself poorly.
