Buddies? Any out there for me?

Thanks! I am resolving to lose atleast10 lbs by the 26th.

Work hard and you'll see the results. I've been exercising like a fiend for months and have lost 17-18 lbs. Have you got a diary started in the other forum yet?

Hi guys,
Just wanted to see if there was anybody who wanted to buddy up with me...I could really use people to keep me going, and get me motivated. I would love to have more people to talk to and trade notes with in this mission called weight loss/lifestyle change. I love to hear different viewpoints and hear other peoples stories, so let me know.

Nice to meet you

Sara,
I would also like to have people to buddy up with. I'm new to this site and I do not know anybody. My name is Jessica. I changed my lifestyle a year and a half ago. It's been the best thing i've ever done for myself. I've lost a bunch of weight but it has slowed WAY down now. My body is making me really work for this last 40 pounds or so. I have just recently started working out. I've always hated exercise but I think i'm beginning to take to it a bit. I just hope I can keep it up. I am in college and I took a personalized fitness class this semester. I took the class because in order to pass I have to put in 25 hours of workouts. I refuse to fail a class so that means I MUST go workout.
It's awesome that you work at a gym. I read your post about what that rude guy said to you at work. It must of been extremely hard to keep your cool. If he only knew how hard you really are working on yourself. He would think differently, thats for sure. Working out four times a week is awesome. We're all proud of ya.

Jess

It was difficult but it put into perspective to me that I know how hard I've worked and that I can't rely on anybody else's image of me to keep me going. I'm going to work out and lose more weight for myself not to prove anything to him.

I'd be happy to be your buddy. You sound very motivated and I think that would be great for us to keep each other motivated.

Me Too!!

:D ME TOO!! I am new too, and need some friends to help keep me motivated. Its funny because I can be a great support system for other people, but when it comes to myself....well thats another story!
My name is Kate and I would love to crash this buddy circle! I am VERY slow on the up-take when it comes to figuring out how to use web pages and tools. So be patient with me, because I'm sure I'll be behind on things!

It looks like the three of us all want to lose around the same amount of weight.... around forthy to fifty pounds. Thats cool! It's nice to met you Kate. I pick up on this internet stuff fairly fast but i'm a little shy so it has taken me awhile to actually post anything. It's strange that I would be shy cuz i'm soooo NOT a shy person. I'll try to do by best at modivating you guys. Like I said, i'm new to all this so we'll all be learning together.

I have worked out hard the last two days and i'm really proud of myself. I have never liked to exercise but the gym i've been going to has some really cool equipment so that helps. You know what I would really like to buy? A Tony Little Gazelle. I tried one at a store and they are so fun. I might have to think about buying one.

Hang in there guys. We can do it. We'll do it together.

buddies

I'm signing up for some more training sessions next week. The sessions really motivate me because I know I have to be there or I still pay and I will definitely be working out and working hard. Breaking up a sweat. And plus there are some really cute guy trainers at this place. Hahahahaha. I like working with guy trainers. I've had some great results from working with them. The girls are good, but I saw more results when I worked with the two guy trainers.

Keep it up buddies of mine!!

lol... thats funny Sara. I work out at school and there are people that work there but they don't help ya much unless you ask. I had them show me around at the beginning but now i'm on my own. There is a lot of hot guys there too... it's a college so HELLO...lol. It's nice to have something to look at but in all seriousness I am very happily married. My husband is great. I weighed 220 when we met and he stuck with me even when I reached 305+ pounds. (I say 305+ because I was so disappointed in myself that I stopped weighing myself after that.) He's a pretty nice looking guy and could of had much better looking girls (or at least skinnier ones) but he picked me. Even now, at size 14, I still feel honored.
I live in Michigan and it's been a bit muggy here lately. The last two days i've worked out and let me tell you what... i've sweated my butt off. I know the humidity has a lot to do with it but I still got a really good workout. Yesterday my arms were in wet from sweating.... and i'm not one that normally sweats much. I'm going to try to go back today and do it again. I'm a little sore but I need to push through it. I wish I had people to work with like you do. It is really good that you have to pay for it cuz it makes you feel that you HAVE to go. After this semester is done I am thinking I will probably join a gym, too. It's expensive but it's important so I will find a way to work it in our budget.

Jellykat... I love your tickers. They are really pretty. I picked halloween ones cuz my hubby and I love halloween. We decorate the house and dress up and scare the poor little kids...lol. It's fun... well at least for us anyway...lol.

Jess

:D great! so we've started a little support system here so we can keep each other on track.... lol....hopefully! I couldn't get the tickerfactory.com tickers to load so I had to use 3fatchicks.com, which had some great ones too! thanks! I started off the day really well, so we'll see how the rest of the day goes.... when I still lived in washington I had a membership with curves because I have social anxiety at really random times. I can't work out in front of all those skinny girls and guys! but I don't have a car right now down here so its been difficult to stay active. we're building a house in Nashville and will be up there by the end of the month so at least then I can take walks with the dog.....

kate

Glad you started your day out doing well... thats a plus. How did the rest of the day go? Is it just me or are you hungry all day long if you eat breakfast? I know they say that breakfast is very important when you are trying to lose weight but I just don't see it. Whenever I eat breakfast all I want to do the rest of the day is eat. I end up gaining weight instead of losing. It's not that I eat "bad" food either... just too much food. My mom says that she's the same way. I guess that when you eat in the morning it wakes up your metabolism for the day. I drink coffee in the morning with sugar free flavored creamer... so what I do is mix my choc. whey protein mix in my creamer real good then pour in my coffee and mix well. It doesn't mix real well but it will mix. It's pretty darn good and it "should" be enough to get my metabolism going... I hope anyway...lol. I've done it for over a year now and i've lost weight the whole time.

I wish I had a doggie to go on walks with. I try to get my husband to go with me but it's not his thing. We live near town and I would love to walk up town and window shop or just look around. I should just go on my own but I don't. There is this lady that walks by my house everyday with her dog. I don't know what kind of doggie it is but it's so cute. The lady puts the leash on him then folds it up and puts it in his mouth. The dog carries it the whole walk. It wouldn't be a good idea for some dogs but it's obviously a well trusted dog. The dog always walks just a few feet ahead of the lady and he looks just as proud as can be carrying his own leash...lol. It's cute!

I didn't make it to the gym today so I think I will dance/exercise for awhile. I shut all my blinds and curtains and crank up the radio and just let loose. If anybody saw me i'd die though...lol. No peeking!

Hope you guys did well today. Talk to you tomorrow.

Jess

I always said if I got a dog I would start walking....ha, well it hasn't started yet! That sounds like a very cool dog I wish mine wasn't such a crackhead:D She is a husky/shepard/coyote mix and gets really excited when we go for walks or see other people.
I did well up until about an hour ago, Greg brought home chocolate and cookies:( ...I couldn't resist. Of coarse now I feel guilty.
well they say your suppose to eat every couple hours, and I can see where we think its alot of food. our ideas of a serving size are 2-3 times bigger than reality. but if we ate as many fruits and veggies as we're suppose to we wouldn't be as hungry through the day..blah blah blah..:D
I havn't gotten the hang of it yet. I hope that I can get back into wanting to stay on track. well goodnight ladies I'll talk at you tomorrow:rolleyes:

hey guys! Would it be OK if I joined your little support circle? I'm looking to lose just a little more than y'all. But still in the same vicinity and I could certainly do with some motivation and support.

So, how is everyone losing their weight? I changed my lifestyle about a year and a half ago and started focusing on living a "healthy" lifestyle. I've lost my weight naturally. I eat mostly healthy food (whole grain, sugar free, fresh produce, ect.) but I do allow myself to eat whatever I want... but in small amounts. The trick to the whole thing is portion control! I eat small amounts but I eat them often... like six times a day and this has worked great for me... until recently. I'm beginning to have problems now. Over the last SEVERAL months my weight lose has slowed WAY down.. to pretty much a stop. Everyone told me that I need to change something so I started eating a little less. I still eat often... just less. I also really started getting picking about what I would eat and NOT eat. I used to eat a ton of veggies and I felt great back then. Over time I began to get addicted to fruit and before ya know it I had replaced veggies with fruit. Well, i'm on the go alot so protein meal replacement bars have been my savor... that and fruit salads. I started losing weight again but I also slowly started losing all of my energy and ability to stay focused on anything. I've had blood work done but they didn't find anything (of course). I started writing down what all I ate everyday and was surprised at what I found. I thought I ate sooo healthy and it turned out I didn't. In fact, I was eating horrible. Without even realizing it I was basicly living on protein meal replacement bars, yogurt, walnuts and fruit... lots of fruit! Where was the rest of the food groups? All this time I thought carbs were bad for ya but it turns out that you need them...lol. I guess carbs are what gives you your energy. Soooo I started eating more food.... from all the food groups. Within two days I felt much better. I also put five pounds on in ONE week. I stopped gaining and was able to lose most of the five pounds I gained but now I am right back to where I was before..... STUCK! I can not lose for nothing. It's like my body is on strike. It's hard to not eat less when you want to lose so bad, ya know.

Does anyone have any ideas for me to start losing again... in a healthy way? I've been working out and it doesn't seem to be making any difference. Granted i'm only working out three times a week but that is three times more than I was before. Do I need to be working out more often? I've cut back on fruit and started eating more veggies. Is there anything else I should cut out of my diet? I normally only have one slice of rye bread a day. I will admit that I love cheese and probably eat too much of that. Who doesn't love cheese though, right...lol.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Jess

well, one thing I've been reading a lot on this website and that I know from experience works, is drinking TONS of water. It'll cut back your appetite and also flush bad things out of your system.

Welcome monikuddle! I agree, water water water! but possably the cheese as well?... cheese is high in fat and can slow down your elimination. maybe it would help if we started logging what we ate for a week or so and get feed back from each other. Its always good to take a step back and have someone else see what they can find. I'll start logging tomorrow, and would love for you guys to help me decide where I need to change things.
As far as how I'm losing weight, well I don't do diets or pills or the next big weight loss gimmick. I make lifestyle changes as well. When I was living in Alaska I devoted my time to changing my habits and counting calories, it worked great I lost close to 50lbs. Well I also didnt do much else but spend my time worrying about how much I was eating and how many calories were in this and that! I want to be able to do it this time and have time for other things. I really need to pay attention to what I'm eating, and how much(portion control) but not necessarily about calories.
so tomorrow I will begin my logging and see where it takes me... should we start this log in this thread or should I start a new one in a different forum? Let me know so I can start it in the morning! thanks!
