Bride 2 Be Thread For Bridal Info And Support!

I thought I would subscribe in here...we just picked a date! We're getting married on October 20th on the beach and I'm super super stoked!

It will be small and informal and very fun. I cannot wait.

It's also time to get serious about this weight loss...ugh.

Heythere! You're getting married shortly after Blair [lolabride; married Oct 6] and I [date is Oct 7]. Where are you getting married- give us the details- we heart weddings:)

Hi! I'm new on this website and saw this thread and couldn't resist. My long term boyfriend and I have made an agreement that we wouldn't get engaged until i reached my goal weight. I might have to wait a while, but I told him how much this means to me and he said that altough he thinks I'm perfect the way I am (HA!) but if this is what I need to feel good about myself then he is willing to wait for me. I can't wait!

Hi there- Perhaps a better plan is to become engaged like us crazy women and then have the goal of your WEDDING be at the end of this weight loss journey! Just a thought:)

I'm getting my last wedding dress fitting this coming weekend- I'm so nervous! Will write more tomorrow my fellow brides:)

Well, we both need a bit of time to finish university before we want to get engaged, so we would like to have some time before that happens, and I thouoght it would be better to spend that time losing weight instead of waiting. I'll probebly extend my goal to our wedding day and not our engagement.

Hi everyone!

Busy weekend for me too. Becka, I'm really sorry to hear about your fight with your parents. That's always really difficult. Mine came to visit this week so I'll be really busy for a bit. Even at 36, they still make me feel like a teenager. Sometimes I feel like I have to beg for their approval. My mom and I went shopping for her dress for the wedding and found a really nice one...that was a good thing. They took me out for dinner and since I was done with the 11 day diet and could eat what I want for a few days, I ordered a caporese salad, lobster ravioli with a rosa sauce and a cannoli for dessert, not to mention a latte and banana bread for lunch. We were talking about my diet and my dad said, "you know...what you've had today amounts to about 3000 calories" (as if I didn't know) and basiclly shrugged it off when I told him what I've had for like the last MONTH. It was ONE DAY of simply having small portions of what I really like. He acted like I was a let down for eating that. They are both so fit and small. My mom looks like Teri Hatcher (same size too) and my dad looks like Rod Stewart (also same size.) my sis is a size 4. I'm the only one who is not slightly underweight and I USUALLY am so I get no sympathy. My dad thinks I'm really unhealthy and sometimes I feel he can't look at me. So today I feel really depressed too and distant from the folks.

The good news is that tomorrow I am going to be in the audience for a taping of "The Price Is Right" so if you all cross your fingers for me, maybe I'll get to "COME ON DOOOOOOOOOWWWWNNNNNNNN!!!!"

Hi everyone!

Sometimes I feel like I have to beg for their approval. The good news is that tomorrow I am going to be in the audience for a taping of "The Price Is Right" so if you all cross your fingers for me, maybe I'll get to "COME ON DOOOOOOOOOWWWWNNNNNNNN!!!!"

I can totally relate to the approval thing. My father is always making comments to both my mother and I about what we eat and how we look. Ironically, he is presently sprouting a nice pop belly from his own overeating but that doesnt phase him. In fact, I think it drives him to criticize us even moreso to enhance his own self-esteem and overcompensate for his personal 'dieting' failure. It's so horrible and I really don't know how I put up with it.

I'm sorry that you too have to endure the criticism- what I have learned to do is when comments like that are made, you need to reevaluate the situation. Does this person have grounds for telling you what you should or should not be eating [i.e. could this potentially be a severe 'health' issue for you?] Are you enjoying what you eat and not going into a binge.. You get the point- YOU KNEW what you were doing- that it was the 3 day lapse in the diet and you know that ultimately, you will get the weight off. So instead of feeling discouraged and 'depressed', use this unjust judgment by your father as yet another impetus to getting the undesired pounds off. Show them that you can eat what you want and still be at a comfortable weight. It's better to have a bit of skin on you and be happy with yourself and your life than to feel miserable and look emaciated. Take care and have fun with Bob today!

Details! We're getting married on the beach. I've reserved an outside pavilion which has a boardwalk and bathrooms and showers. It will be simple and very carefree. I have been looking for dresses. My three bridesmaids will be in bright solid color dresses and the men will be in colored polos and khakis. My fiance will probably wear a white button-up and black pants. I am making paper flowers for all of us ladies to carry....that might be all I've planned so far! I am so excited.

OOHH!! That sounds really cool! Totally different from the completely formal shindigs Becka and I are planning!

ON THE BEACH??? So nice! And paper flowers. Nice one! That sounds so lovely!

I agree with Blair! Beach wedding sounds amazing- I'm jealous- I originally considered it but And was adamant about being married in a church. I decided to compromise since I get to make the majority of the decisions:)

Final Dress fitting this Saturday- so crazy! Promise I'll post my photos asap:) I'll also post what the wedding party is wearing, etc. I'M GETTING SO EXCITED- His mom is booking our honeymoon flights as soon as I figure out which airline we want to fly with! Tell us more- BLAIR, WHERE ARE YOU? You've gone pseudo-MIA on me!

holy cow I need you guys!!! =)

I'm getting married August 4 and my size 8 dress that I tried on and fit into in January probably does not fit now... I haven't tried it on since I gained like 10 lbs in the past few months. It has been crazy stressful this semester of graduate school and I just haven't had time to take care of myself! I am 5'4" and weighed 135 at my best a year ago thanksgiving. I am dying to get down to that weight again by the wedding. But I'm sitting right now at 154 and have a bit to lose.

Here is me in the dress in January...

and since way back there was talk of colors, we are going with indigo/persian blue and kiwi/honeydew (depending on which company we order from) and our BM dresses are this:

We are having a lovely wedding in the church I grew up in and then having our reception in a barn... not currently in use as an animal facility, but currently a festival spot in a nearby town. I am soooo excited and have soooo much to do.

We are currently putting together our invitations and hope to get them mailed out in the next few weeks. All of that on top of finals and i'm trying to exercise? I must be out of my mind!!!

All of your wedding plans sound so beautiful!

Hiya love! Welcome to our brides thread! Yes, you have indeed come to the right place! Your weding plans sound just lovely- we too are brides venturing to fit nicely into our wedding dresses:) We'll help you reach your goal, don't worry!

Blair's [Lola Bride] weight loss is moving along quite steadily, whereas mine seems to have come to a stall. Nevertheless, I'm reevaluating my regimen and will begin something new on Sunday. WHat is your eating/exercise regimen like? What are you in grad school for?I finished my MA in September and miss school terribly! Take care x

I'm working on my masters of divinity. (sounds fantastic - doesn't it!) I am soooo ready to be done with school, but will not be finished until December.

I have not been doing much lately as far as a regimen - but what I'm trying to start off with is keeping my food calories around 1200 (which usually means for me 1400 -1500... aim low and hit the mark has been my practice) and I'm trying to make it to the gym or out for a run at least 5 times a week.

But I just started back again and nothing is consistent yet. I went to they gym yesterday and had a good time, and right after I headed out the door today - water in hand, music going - I stepped in a hole and twisted my ankle =( I was literally not even to the sidewalk yet. So, no exercise today. It isn't bad and I can walk gingerly on it tonight, so I'm hoping by the end of the week I'll be moving again. Maybe using the bikes at the gym would help b/c the weight would be off it? who knows.

I weighed 175 at my highest about 2 years ago. What worked for me then was to focus on healthy calories and to limit them and then the exercise. and water. and I lost 35 lbs! Since then I have slacked and I'm back up to 154 - mainly from not paying attention and getting sucked into school. But with one week left until finals are over I think I can focus on this for the summer. Plus - its nice out again and being outside makes it so much easier to work out.

Well, I've never known anyone doing a Masters in that subject so I'm intrigued! I completed my MA in Gender Studies but subsequent to the degree I realized that I'll probably never pursue anything in that realm:)

Well it looks like you have the 'goods' to begin your weight loss journey! The key to weight loss is finding what works for you, an endeavour I have yet to meet. My body has been rejecting everything as of late so I'm starting yet another new plan this weekend. Oh stomach bulge, how I loathe thee! Best of luck and we're here for support:)

lol... it took me a while to find that as well. You know - what really worked for me exercise wise was interval training. Especially b/c i can't run for long distances, I started out so simple... walk for one minute, jog for 30 seconds, repeat... and I think that kept me at the right heart rate I needed to be at for losing the fat and building the muscle.

This February I was at the gym and I had been doing a steady rate on the elliptical. And honestly, it hasn't work as well, which is part of the reason I now weigh more and not less. I also lifted weights in February, and that has toned up my arms, but I know I gained some weight doing it. Having not seen the results of toned muscle elsewhere, it's hard to tell.

Keep trying though!

By the way - my schools version of the M.Div has much to do with gender and race and sexuality and lots of other "liberal" stuff like liberation theology and social protest and readings of the bible that don't oppress any of those groups. It probably would fit in well. I'm really looking forward to becoming a minister after this (the degree is a requirement in my denomination) and helping people who have felt like religion has harmed them in the past.

Oh! My fiance and I discovered a neat trick this weekend working on our invitations!

We really wanted to do wax seals on our invites, but it looked like it was going to be pretty expensive. We were browsing through Michaels (craft store chain) and found that they now have glue seals... they are sticks that you put in your glue gun and can make seals out of as well! So we tried that out with one package, and really didn't like the color (it had sparkles...ick) and just to try it, we used regular old clear hot glue sticks.

And they look fantastic! it looks just like a wax seal, only it is clear (our color comes out that way anyways) and it definately holds everything in place. And for way cheap too!

Thanks for all of your suggestions! Your invitations sound fabulous:) I too try to do interval training, especially onthe elliptical! I just need to become more serious and committed to my eating/fitness regime!

So, here are the links to the photos of everything relating to my wedding as promised weeks ago. I'll be posting the photos of me in my dress on monday:

yay! we finished making our invites today. We still have to do envelopes and then put them in, but the big huge chunk of work is done!!!

pics in my knot.com bio

I finally tried my shoes on with my dress and they definately are high enough that I don't have to alter the hem... but it won't zip up all the way... I definately need to lose around 10 lbs...

At least you know what you need to do- you have loads of time to fit into your dress so don't fret too much!

Did you check out my photos? I don't know where Blair has been hiding- Hope you had a nice weekend!

yes!!! and your dress is GORGEOUS! I love the fact the flowergirl dress matches =) The flower pics didn't all show up for me though... but I love it all =)

Heya girls!!! I found this site for stick-on wax seals custom made:

Becka....all that is just GORGEOUS!!!!! You are going to be so BEAUTIFUL!!!

I got a lot done this week with my parents but now I am thrown into work but here's an update:

My mom found some venetian glass hearts in a boutique near our place in Laguna that are WONDERFUL so we bought 100 of them on the spot!! We got light pink and pewter. They're about an inch long.

I'm making bracelets like the one this model is wearing for the girls and they are all wearing floor- length Eduardian inspired dresses

Here is an idea for the necklaces I will make

I got an ostrich stole like this:

And a small platinum colored metallic suede clutch with a rhinestone clasp!

I also found AWESOME shoes. I am still wearing the Vera Wang ivory rouched d'orsay pumps, but I know my feet will be tired by the end of the night so I got these Loeffler Randall ballet flats too. They are REALLY comfy and I like the distressed silver. Plus...how cute is that bow? It's the exact same kind of ribbon I had on my REAL ballet slippers when I was a little girl.

This is how I am wearing my hair:

WHEW!!! So much done!! So many boxes ticked off. Pete paid the musicians and for the carriage. Moving right along!!

OH! YEAH!! I totally forgot!! My mom found HER DRESS! I can't believe we did that painlessly!! It's a chocolate brown with intricate beading in the front. It's mermaid style with a lace bottom. Some of the beads were missing so I found them in a bead shop downtown and repaired it. It was the only one left in her size and it was perfect so we bought it anyway knowing I could easily fix it. I also found satin opera-length gloves that go all the way almost to her armpit!! I beaded the top of the gloves to match the dress.

I have to ask her the brand...but there are SO MANY great dresses right now from that label that would be PERFECT for mother's dresses in the fall. All very elegant and formal and NOT prom looking. We got it at Macy's. I also found earrings there too..almost forgot about that. They're Givency rhinestone drops with mother of pearl flowers on the lobes.
