Bride 2 Be Thread For Bridal Info And Support!

YIKES!!! That's really odd...I wonder what her motivation is? Have you talked to 'S" about it? It sucks you felt obligated to invite her..you should have just permanenetly cut her off your "Christmas list." She sounds like a real jerk. You are never obligated to invite ANYONE you don't want...I am even battling over where I want my mom there. Remember, it's YOUR day and nobody just immediately has the right to be a guest, no matter what social protocol you feel compelled to follow.

If it's really going to bother you, maybe see if you can dig some info out of your other friend and maybe she can help to subtly dissuade her from coming. The problem is now you have already extended an invitation and whereas it would not have been a faux pas to disinclude her to begin with, now that you have already sent an invite, to renig on it now would be extremely poor form.

One thing that you have to keep in mind is that you will be the belle of the ball on your day no matter WHO is there. You will be incredibly occupied by so many other wonderful moments I doubt you'll even notice her presence. You don't have to invite her to any of the private dinners or extra events that might be more sentimental. PLUS...you'll be a beautiful princess who has caught herself an INCREDIBLY handsome and wonderful man who has a sexy accent...right? You have a fairy tale wedding in a CASTLE!! She'll be green with envy AND all that matters is that you've very happy. That will show and that's enough to shut any evil b***ch up! She will have to eat crow and use her knife too! Secretly you might enjoy sticking it to her a little just by being above her and all her pettiness and succeeding in your own happiness despite all her stupid jabs.

Plus maybe she'll bring you a nice wedding gift!! LOL!!

Hi Blair,
Thanks for the consoling words. ANd you're right, as And reminded me last night, it is My day and it won't matter who is present, I'm going to revel in every moment of being a Princess and marrying ym Prince. It's just really freaking strange that she felt at all compelled to even make plans to travel over for the wedding. She doesnt even know Andrew's last name, for god sakes. Yeah, its That bad. *Sigh*- I'm just worried we'll be witness to a reenactment of S's wedding day where J was so obliterated that she amde a downright fool of herself. J and S were grinding to baby got back and oh gosh, I will not elaborate further. Let's just say they are not inhibited in the slightest and J has a serious drinking problem. Andrew will beat them to a pole [or at least escort them out] if he even suspected that they would get out of hand s I'm going to stop worrying..

Getting my last dress fitting next weekend- SO SCARY! But I have to go down to Cape Cod so a bunch of my girls are coming to have a mini-get together; I'm SO excited. I am desperately needing girl time!

I can't believe we have almost a foot of snow in the middle of April. In the middle of a freaking winter storm. This is insanity.

ooooohhhhhh....drunk people...are they not the WORST? And the English totally enable that sort of behavior. That's one thing that concerns me about living there.

You're so organized that you're getting your last fitting already. I JUST picked mine out and ordered it. I won't have a first fitting until July and another one closer to September!!

A foot of snow..YUK!!! And I was complaining because t was windy and 65 degrees yesterday! There's a reason I work in LA during winter!!! Bundle up baby!!!

I got some pics back from the photo shoot. None of the face shots are here yet but there was a nice kind of artsy one of my shoulder which I liked so I'll show it to you. The rest will arrive on disk soon and I can share with you.

Becka, you said you couldn't imagine me as a blonde so I included a couple of old shots from about 2 years or so ago:

Heya! Photos are brilliant- blonde hair looks really nice on you but you look so different! What other instruments do you play?

Glad the photo shoot went well- look forward to seeing the head shots! What was it for anyhow? I've never had a photo shoot- another thing on my to-do list.. x

I think the cardio sounds great- what does your strength training look like? You should really shoot for doing strength/resistance training 3x a week- what is that routine like? You can probably take the cardio down if you need to to compensate for the time- Try not to lose patience- fat loss takes time unfortunately:)

Congrats on the wedding:)

I do stregnth about 2-3 X a week.. for 25-30min after my 40min cardio.. I do yoga booty ballet

becka- I have 13 lbs to go too! Doesnt it feel good!?!?! Good luck

Ay, except for the minor fact that the scale has not budged in well over 2-3 weeks now. Not sure why I'm stalling as I've decreased my caloric intake even more- Frustrated, not discouraged:)

Hi ladies-

It's time for me to start ordering some of the favors, etc. for the wedding- how exciting is that! I received my first wedding gift from my Aunt- four place settings of my beautiful china- I'll post photos later [which reminds me I need to post photos of my dress]. Even those its still almost 6 months away, I'm so bloody excited. I've decided that no matter what, it IS going to be the happiest day of my life. And I'm praying to God every night that the weather holds up!

Any ideas on gifts for mother/father of the bride and groom? I'm super close with my parents, esp my mom, so I want to buy them something special. Did I tell you we bought my wedding ring last week!? Il'l have to take photos of that too- its a five diamond channel- very simple but very elegant- I love it!

I'm feeling giddy today, if you hadnt noticed. I want to hear everythign about everyone's weddings to get me even more excited! Love to you all!

Hey Becka!!

I am buying my favors this week too. I found these little organza bags of 14 blown glass hearts for $7 each. I am going to take the hearts out and put them on the tables and use the bags to wrap the bridesmaid's groomsmen gifts. I'm making jewelry for them and Pete is having monogramed cufflinks. I'm also making a choker for my future mother-in-law. We also ordered little rococco embossed boxes that we are handpainting and then wrapping in multicolored ribbon. We're making chocolates ourselves for the inside.

We picked out our rings but have decided to wait untl out first year anniverary to get them. We will start with very pain inexpensive sentimental bands we surprise each other with for the first year. We will find them anywhere...but it must be a secret. He is in Ireland right now but will be in Japan soon so I'm sure he will find something. I can't wait to see what I'm getting!!

I am still thinking about the parent's gifts..other than the jewlry which I have sorted out already. Not sure yet.

Hey...do you need any candles? We have over 200 candles in votives of various sizes that will have nothing to do Sunday LOL!!

But here are the rings we picked out:

This is the engagement ring I already have:

And here is the band that matches:

and then Pete's is just a plain platinum ring that's soft like the one from Lord of the Rings.

Hiya!

Great ideas about the favors and gifts. I am hopeless at anything remotely artistic [besides theatre] so the mere thought of making something is out of the question. We ordered black organza bags that we're going to fill with American chocolates as a token of 'my culture,' We're also buying mini Welsh lovespoons for each guest. On the tables will be a flower arrangement with six glass candle holders w/ ivory tea lights in them. Very classy and very simplistic. As far as gifts, we did the unoriginal engraved flasks for his groomsmen and for my ladies, I bought them these beautiful cashmere-like pashemas that i'm having their initial embroidered on- since it is October, they can wear them after the wedding with their dresses!

I'm thinking of finding a photo of my grandmother on her wedding/engagement and putting it in a frame with a photo of myself and my mother on wedding/engagement but obviously I can't give that to her until after the wedding. My momis my best friend in the world so i want to give her something really personalized and special!

P.S. YOUR RINGS are beautiful! MY mom gave andrew my grandmother's diamond to have set for my engagement ring so my ring is very simple [just single round stone] but very sentimental- His wedding ring is made out of Welsh Gold- its just stunning! I don't have photos but i promise when i stop being lazy i'll put all my photos up!

We already ordered our candles but thank you for asking! I'd suggest ordering the groomsmen cufflinks over here [things remembered does top quality items at low prices] as everything is more expensive there [then again, you live in LA and have an apt in NY so perhaps thats not an issue:)]. Oh, the fun of being a poor ex-student attempting to pay off HUGE loans..lol.

Oh, we're definately ordering all the gifts and such over here!! Pete likes these cufflinks we found at Tiffany (where he found the rings) and he might so with them..but I also found something here that's less expensive. Money is DEFINATELY an issue. That's why we are waiting until our first anniversary to get the rings we want. My dress was 3k more than I had budgeted and other things have cropped up so we had to compromose somewhere. There is just no money left to budge anywhere. That's also why we are making most everything ourselves too! LOL!!

For instance, I saw in an expensive bridal magazine these cute boxes from Boca Bons with coloful ribbons containg chocolates. They were about $3 per box, not bad...but that ads up when you have a 100+ guest list.

I found BETTER Italian paper boxes that are embossed with flowers on Canal street for lke 25¢ each. They're Ivory but I will paint some of the lids and bottoms in the colors of our flowers. Then we can mix and match lids and bottoms. The insides I will spray gold or leave ivory. I got yards and tards of silk organza and velvet ribbon from the fashion district for less than a third of what you'd pay in fabric store. I might get some charms too..BUT, they don't need it. You can get a HUGE box of 120 cocoloates from our favorite chocolatier in the UK for about $70. We are tsking them out and drizling white chocolate dyed in the floral colors. if I get inspired I'll pipe out initials on the top as well. You put all that together, and make them yourselves (which is just putting a chocolate in a box, putting a lid on and then tying a bow like on Christmas) and now we're looking at $1.35 per guest. PLUS..it's FUN!!! I am having a bridal party the Thursday before and all the bridesmaids are going to a luncheon and then we are assembling the boxes. it's fun and cute and a way to bond and get creative. Ours will be much nicer too!

We are taking this approach with almost everything. I want REALLY nice presents for the girls, but instead of buying proper jewelry, I have been collecting antique beads, chek art glass, swarovski crystals, bits of silver and cameos, antique pearl necklaces and silver chain. I'll use some of the ribbon and make gorgeous unique necklaces for each girl and they will all correspond. I saw a design I like in Macy's using similar materials that I'm copying. It cost $1,300. Mine will be about $50 each with the SAME quality materials.

I saw a GREAT idea on Martha Stewart where the boutonnieres were made from fabric and sewn to look like fancy leaves. Then at the last minute you add a sprig of whatever. TOTALLY stealing that. That saves me about $240 right there.

We are doing SO much of this DIY it's ridiculous!! That's the only way we can afford it. I will be there for a month and 1/2 NOT working beforehard so I will have all the time in the world to arrange it!!

You girls are way ahead of me.. thanks for all the ideas though! lol I'll post my things as I go along. I have one year, 1 week and 4 days!!! Whoo hoo!!!

WOO HOO!!! Counting down the days!!!!! I started planning like a maniac as soon as I knew... but I kicked it into high gear about 8 months in advance. I JUST found my dress and that's kinda pushing it!

Hey! I just don't have the patience or creativity to do DIY gifts:) Nevertheless, the flasks and pashemas came out beautifully so I'm really pleased with those. Last night we ordered our personalized napkins, wedding cameras [for the tables so guests can take photos throughout the day and we will develop them for additional candid shots] and personalized mints [individually wrapped with our names on them]. So excited about our lovespoons as the company is willing ot make customized ones just for us so I get to get the really pretty ones:) Andrew always laughs at me because I love "pretty things" and get really, really excited when I am given "pretty things"- have you seen 'Devil wears prada"? You know when her friend is given the designer bag and she says 'pretttttttty'? She pretty much stokle that line from me:)

Anyway getting SO FREAKING excited about this wedding! Andrew's MOm is paying for our pre-wedding honeymoond plane tickets as a wedding gift [we're going to Cyprus in August as he can't get time off work to go on a honeymoon post-wedding]- I found great direct flights so hopefully she'll order those soon:) We are also having a harpist play at our reception so i need to start sorting through the classical music choices for her. My DJ is MIA so unless i hear from him soon, i'm going elsewhere- the damn british and their lackadaisacal ways:) JK

Okay, thats all for now. Yogabooty write us with your ideas!
P.S. Like Blair, I too started planning this wedding forever ago..like in the fourth grade:)

BECKA!!!!

OH THOSE ARE SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!! Stealing you idea Becka..totally. My parents are getting one. We're not connected to Wales in any way shape or form...but we are so close to there..and my parents are into al things celtic. Maybe I'm being goof...but this is really cute!!

My parent are getting a fanny pack from Walmart to give to the Dales. For the giggle factor alone. Mr Dale is paralized with fits of snickering every time he sees my dad's.

I thought I would subscribe in here...we just picked a date! We're getting married on October 20th on the beach and I'm super super stoked!

It will be small and informal and very fun. I cannot wait.

It's also time to get serious about this weight loss...ugh.

Hey love- they'll definitely love the lovespoons- they're an extremely thoughtful and sentimental gift. Do some research on the history of them- its fascinating! Andrew gave me an exquisite one for our one year anniversary:) Write more tom xo
