Bigger, Stronger, Faster

I thought this was going to be a Kanye West thread.

Steroids are legal under a physicians care. Steroids are legal in some countries. Steroids can screw someone up royally used irresponsibly. If one plans to use, spend time research through articles, studies, physiology text books, and through others that have used them.

Too much bad publicity and public opinion won't allow the legalization of steroids. Any politician that ran a platform with legalizing steroids for OTC use would never get elected. Cigarettes and alcohol bring in too much money. Alcohol and tabacco have way too many allies in power.

I'm not not advocating the use of steroids whatsoever and to be honest after seeing the documentary I learned a lot about them, I didn't really know a lot about them and their side effects etc(Its an awesome documentary by the way, really well done with a nice human side to the whole thing).

I really don't think however, whatsoever, that the government are trying to stop ANYONE looking well, at all! a country that looks healthy reflects well on them(the government that is).

Steroids screw up who use them irresponsibly.....so does every other ****ing drug! If it was legal the doctor could prescribe what we needed and give good information on how to use it safely. Its nothing but a scam...

Don't fool yourself into thinking that their are no risks while taking steroids. You may never hear me preach against them, but you'll also never hear me recommend them or say they're perfect.

Google "TRT" and "HRT"

I don't understand why you're so angry about this.

p.s. Read what Mreik said.

I'm not angry, i just find it annoying that people cant see how hyped up all the negative effects of steroids are when there is no proof.

Actually, there are a ton of studies. Just for kicks, I went to pubmed.com and typed in "anabolic steroids" in the search box and got back 6101 studies. That's just on pubmed.com

The fact is that there ARE negative side effects and risks potentially involved anytime you take a drug. The negative side effects might be what is focused on by the media, but realize...there are negative side effects.

You are ridiculous sometimes, phate! Experience is better than science right? Well internet guys waving their wang around isn't exactly EXPERIENCE. So instead of having experience OR science instead you read about other people supposed experience and call it the truth.

What better to learn about steroids other than talking to people who've been using it safely for 10+ years?

People on the internet who SAY they've used for `10+ years. You don't even know these people. Random internet people are not the same as your own experience or knowing people with experience. That's a dangerous and stupid way to think.

Guess I am more trusting of people who say they are who they are than you.

Wow, I'm all for listening to experience, I think it leads the way for science to follow up and start to explain. But neither can be dismissed as worthless, they need to be used side by side.

You've used Mreik as an example in your sig as to why experience beats science but Mreik is probably also the most educated in human biology on this site and his knowledge of androgens is second to none. I think he just chooses to keep quite to avoid being pulled into discussions with internet experts

My girlfriend went on steriods for a blood disorder recently so I asked Mreik about them and straight off the bat he told me everything the doctors already had along with lots of other interesting stuff too on how to stay safe while on them and things to look out for.

He may well have experience of their use (I don't know if he has or not) but his knowledge is underpinned by a vast knowledge of the science behind them and their effects on the body so he would be well placed to be able to take them safely.
I imagine Arnold is also pretty knowledgeable on the subject

Just so we're clear, when I was ranting about negative effects, I meant that in the "net negative impact" sense. And I hope I made it clear that when making wild claims about how is no real proof of said "net negative impact", I meant that contextually - Referring to people who take the time to have a good idea of what the **** they're doing, and the discipline to be responsible.

My issue is with the government telling me what to do just because most people are too lazy to read. Definitely not advocating steroid use in any way. Just saying the implementation of their prohibition is complete bull****.

Now, if you had to say, pass a knowledge test to be able to get some sort of certification which would allow you to purchase them without hassle, then I might be willing to consider that acceptable. Still fascist and something I'd generally be opposed to, but at least intended in the best interests of the people, and not for ridiculously transparent ulterior motives.

Edit: And no smart ass remarks about that "knowledge test" being a doctorate in medicine. I know plenty of medical doctors who don't know **** about **** beyond the very basic biocore crap and what's on label or their PDAs.

One of the problems the steroid forum at t-nation is having right now is they're all bickering about who's giving good advice and who's giving bad advice. There are a few guys there that know their stuff; however, one has to be very wary of who they choose to get information from.

I think at this point the OP has at least decade or more before he even starts worrying about the legal rammifications of taking AAS.

Your right, there are people there that don't know what they are talking about. But I've been there long enough to know who are the veterans and who aren't.

If you want to know the truth about steroids, take your a$$ to the steroidd section in T-nation and read their threads and know the truth. They have members there that have been roiding for over 20, 30, years and they have not had a problem. There are a lot of myths about Steroids.
The OP or yourself do not happen to be teenagers by any chance? Your line Arnold's Experience > Mreik's Experience > My experience > Science. Fuk your science is probably because Buzz or someone has challenged you with scientific understanding (I don't have time to go through your posts but maybe you can explain). Is this Arnold the Arnie who became the California Governor and spoke out against steroids?

You should not go by what anonymous people on the internet say as absolute truth, many on bodybuilding sites are teens hence the often immature/childish pranks. It goes without saying they can lie and say anything.

Like I said once and will say again, I value someones experience over someones credentials.

Isn't it funny how he gave his anti-steroid speech while popping some dbol, smoking a joint, and participating in an orgy?

Last I heard the "governator" was helping old ladies cross the street and there was talk of legislation for high school coaches to teach student athletes the dangers of steroids. Celebrities and politicians are "allowed" to preach what they have not practiced. :D
