April's Diary

ok, so richard simmons and his funny little shorts, Leslie Sansone , and Billy Blanks (tae BO) want us all to die, but at least we'll die skinny! LOL

a goo fish prob means GOOD..... silly little girls.... LOL Dont you know slang!

I did some asking around and it seems there's a fish the Cajuns call a "gaspergoo". From what I understand, it's a kind of fresh water drum. Anyway, I heard the same thing.NASTY!!!!!

Just did an actual search on information on this fish. "goo fish" is short for gaspergoo which was originally gaspergou. It's a freshwater drum and the picture I found of it looks like a cross between a black drum and a bass. Didn't mention anything about it as food, so lets just assume that we won't eat it. It's bad enough John is expecting me to eat "gator tails"!!!
Anyway, I was very good today.
Breakfast:1/2 cup grapenuts w/ a nectarine and 1/2 cup 1% milk
Lunch: 2 oz spaghetti with sauce 1/2 cup with 3 oz extra lean beef
dinner: grilled chicken breast w/ plum
snack 1: nutigrain cereal bar
snack 2: bunch of green grapes
As you can tell I love fruit and don't eat veggies. I take my multivitamin and daily fiber to replace them.
Also did both Richard Simmons workouts and gave the horses a bath.

gave the horses a bath!!!!!! AWESOME Workout! (I would think, never done it myself)
GATOR TAIL!!!!! YIKES!!!!! LOL
Ok, so I was wrong about the slang... it was a wild guess....

Gator jerky is good...dont know about the tails.......Texas....happy to hear you like fruit....Do you eat ANY kind of veggies?.... What about hubby?....And what kind of horses do you have ?.....Do you have the toning video by Richard?

Hey Christina....not a bad guess about the "slang"...Its Louisiana....All dem cajuns down der talk a wee bit funny I garantee...lol....( you really have to go south Louisiana to hear that kind of talk..lol)

ok, today is my hard work day. I've got to rake up hay to get ready for the new bale, then go get the new bale, haul it back, push it off the trailer, reassemble the ring around it. Then I've got to go do the shopping and stuff for the trip. Gotta get water and low-cal snacks to take with me. this evening it's change the oil in the truck and clean out the bed and tool box. Whew, I think I better get started before it gets too hot. Supposed to get to 102 today with a heat index of 110!!!

When compared to other meats, alligator is low in fat and calories and high in protein. Alligator is low in saturated fatty acids and high in monounsaturated fatty acids. Saturated fatty acids cause increased cholesterol levels in the body while monounsaturated fatty acids are credited with decreasing cholesterol levels. This mix of fat types represents a correct balance from a dietary standpoint.

Texas-
How I do not miss that texas heat!!!!.......( unless I am floating down the river in a tube with a cold one on my hand)....I dont know which roads you will be taking to get there...but there is a speedtrap I wanted to warn you about.....I cant remember where..I may have to ask my dad....

Today was a good day. Spent over 2 hours working outside raking and throwing hay, and fixing the hay ring. The horses are such pigs they tear apart the ring trying to get to the good stuff in the middle of the bale. Now food
Breakfast: Nutrigrain cereal bar
Lunch: whole wheat tortilla grilled with 1 oz cheddar(low fat)
nectarine
snack: nutrigrain cereal bar
Dinner: stouffers single serve lasagna

water 120 oz. ( hey, it was 103 degrees outside. I was tempted to jump in the horse tank for a minute. came to my senses just in time)

I remember we went quading in southern Illinois, it was so hot, the guys were throwing the girls in the horse water thing... when they came to get me, I put up the biggest fight, my nickname was City Slicker, lol, they didnt understand why I cared about my makeup getting ruined and why I didnt want to go in the horse thing...

April, I will never yell at you to get exercise, you are getting a ton by you! AND IN THAT HEAT! WHoa!
Thanks for posting in my diary. You are such a sweetie. :)

Christina, I can't believe you actually found the nutritional info on gator meat!! Looks like it's actually healthy! Hmmm, just hope it tastes good. Grits are kind of like malt-meal or cream of wheat, but they're made from hominy. I love grits, I'm just not so sure about having them with fish or fish for breakfast in general!!!

ok dear, whats hominy? LOL
I love fish....... yum yum.....
you got to let us know how the gator meat is... dont think I will ever have the chance to try it, but if its good, I might go out of my way to try it... cant believe I am considering gator of all things!

Hey, you saw the nutrition facts. Sometimes the specialty grocery market type places sell it, but it's really expensive. I'll try it there, but I doubt I'll buy any at home. Ok, hominy is kind of like corn. There's white or yellow and it looks just like corn kernels only each kernel is the size of maybe 3 corn kernels. It has a very mild flavor. VERY!! It's really good for adding to stews and such because it stretches the amount without changing the taste much and it's starchy so it kind of thickens your juice a little. Not a real healthy choice, but not bad in small amounts.

Hey April,
It looks like you are working your butt off. You are doing great! I had never heard of grits before either until I met my boyfriend. He had me try them one time when we were down south w/ his family. I had them at a Denny's and I did not like them. Jeff said I should give them another try because the ones i had weren't very good. I haven't had a chance since. I did not know that you could add them to soup. Maybe I should try that.
I hope you have a great time on your vacation, even if you do have to eat fish for breakfast!
Keep up the good work!

Julie
