Silly scales.

Why is that silly? I think that's great! I also think it's great that you met your goal, sorry surpassed your goal for when your lady friend was in town! Congrats Andy!
I may have asked you this before but how far away are you from Mesa, AZ? I only ask because my parents are snow birds and live there 6 months of the year. I might be coming for a visit around March 2011 and it would be really cool to find a half marathon or even 10km race to go into together. I love the idea of setting a goal to run a marathon. I need to do the half first to see how I do with that before I set any other goals.
Oh and your birthday is coming up - any plans yet?
Keep it up! I love your posts!

I was just thinking how much weight fluctuates day to day, ya know? I'm thrilled that I'm at a new low!

I actually live really close to Mesa! And I think thats a really good idea! I know I really need to step it up endurance, but I would be really proud of myself if I could finish a 1/2 marathon. Its a nice ways away, but LMK if plans become more concrete.

And you know how I got that new job? The only downside I've seeing so far is that I have to fly out of town for training for 2 weeks, which means I won't be here for my birthday :S So, I think I'll "bookend it" and have a celebration early and one after I return :).

Thanks for coming by Lisa!

That's cool you are close to Mesa! Even if there are no races around that time you could take me up a mountain or something! I will let you know once we make some plans. Take care over the next couple weeks and I'll check up on you when I return! :seeya:

Hi Andy! Looks like you're right on track ... before my pregnancy I programmed events into my cell phone that told me every Friday what I would weigh each week if I lost 2.6lbs per week, and this week is something like 237.8 or so and I know that you and I were both within 10lbs. of each other.

Well, it looks like you've got be by about 60lbs. now! I am proud to say that I am almost 31 weeks pregnant now, though, and I weigh right around the same as I did when I found out I was pregnant ... actually 2lbs. under, which is great. If I can keep this up through the end of the pregnancy, I will be in great shape to pick up where I left off in January!

Excited to get back to it when the time comes! You're doing so amazing!!

Hey Andy. I noticed you wrote in my last journal but I have a new one started - "135 here I come". Where is your latest update?? How have you been? Still trucking along? Come back and update soon :)

Just popping in to say hi. You haven't been around in a while, hope everything is ok.

Noted! Ill make sure to stop by and check it out.

I started my new job a few weeks ago, which I really like, but its been a task trying to adjust to my new schedule. I was used to going to bed around midnight before, now I am waking up for work at 5 AM. Anyways, I had to travel out there for a week to train, and unfortunately I really fell off track. Same story when I got back home, just getting used to my new schedule. I think at one point I was back up to 146.5ish, and I was pretty annoyed. I almost felt ashamed to come back here and post my slip up, weird right?

I've slowly got everything going again. The good news is that my job is RIGHT next to this mountain I've been hiking, so I try and go RIGHT after work. Only problem is its still something ridiculous like 110 degrees when I leave. Can't wait till October haha. In the meantime, I'm going to try and alternate gym days and hike days. I think thats a nice balance, and ill let you all know how it works out. That means today is a lifting day!

As of this morning, I am back down to 240.8, but I still haven't cracked that elusive 239 bracket. Also, I am at 30.5 BMI according to my scale, and I would love to get in the 20s before October!

I'm glad to see a lot of fimilar faces around here still doing great. You guys are AWESOME!

I know exactly how that is. When I slip up, have a bad day (or three) or my weight goes up, I start to avoid this site. It's like, I don't want to admit my failure, that everyone here will be disappointed in me. Which I know isn't true and everyone will just encourage me to get back to it, but still.

Glad to hear that you are settling into the new job! Hope it continues to go well.

Hey all!

Since I got the new job, I haven't been able to update nearly as much. Kinda funny looking back how much time I spent on this website while I was "working" LOL. Anyways, I am still kicking over here in AZ! I've more or less maintained for the past 2 months, staying right around 242. I'm really having trouble staying motivated for that last big push. I'm hoping to find some of that around here, because I used to live on that stuff.

On a positive note, I just returned from a HUGE hike I've been training for for the past month. Last weekend, I headed up to the Grand Canyon, and hiked from the South rim to the North rim. It was a GRUELING 24 mile hike, and it took me roughly 10 hours to finish it all. I went though something silly like 2.5 gallons of water during the trek, and consumed at least 3000 calories in engineered food just to keep the body energized. I wasn't totally prepared for it though, I was missing some essentials I can bring next year (salt pills for one (cramps are the worst!)). Shockingly, the next day I was hobbling around like a 90 year old man haha. There is another trip going in may, which is plenty of time to drop some weight and really make another effort at it, so thats a big motivator for me atm. I want to improve!

I still need to figure out an exercise schedule thats going to work for me during the weekdays though. I start work at 6AM now, so morning workouts aren't looking that feasible. The thing is, when I get home at 3, I usually just want to unwind and relax. I used to frequent the gym at nights, almost as a nightly ritual in fact, but now I find that if I am not in bed by 9:30 im no good the next day. So perhaps going forward I need to bring a change of clothes with me and just go right after work. That or set a dedicated time that I can work with, maybe 6 or 7, and make myself get up and go! I really want to get back into my old routine, and with the weather finally becoming agreeable again, there isn't any reason not to be outside.

So tomorrow, I am going to pack a duffel bag with some clothes and head ot teh gym right after work. I'll let you know how that goes. Have a nice evening everyone!!

So, how'd it go? ;)

Hey Andy! Been a while. Congratulations on your new job! 6AM is a stinger (ouch). I'm glad to see you've been losing steadily and maintaining here lately. You've certainly put in the hard work. This time last year you wouldn't have imagined a hike through the Grand Canyon. Well done.

My free advice (worth exactly what you paid for it) ...I'd go to the gym directly after work. That way, my evenings are free for social commitments and I can unwind before that 9:30 bedtime. If I hit the gym around 6 or 7, I'd eventually skip it for dinner plans with friends/family or other things that just come up.

It's *almost* beginning to cool off. So, I'm starting an outdoor boot camp to shake things up.

Cheerio :)

Andy, that walk sounds intense! I kind of want to do it. LOL I'm sure you were a world of hurt the next day, but I hope you were really proud of yourself for doing it. The old you couldn't have done it, right?

Now, kick it into gear so when the next one comes around you'll be stronger AND have less weight to lug around. I'll bet you can shave off some of that time.

Definately get into a routine for your workouts. When I was laid off, I actually found it was a lot harder to get my workouts in, even though I had more time. I didn't have a set time, so it was easy to think "after lunch, after dishes, in the evening... oops, it's bed time!" Pick a time and stick to it, you'll feel much better.

Hey everyone!

Quick update. Finally had the guts to post my Before----->current pictures. I'm happy with how it looks, and its a reminder that I will NEVER let things get that way again.

Moving on, I have been maintaining my current 240ish +-3 pounds. I really want to get back on track to hit 220 before december. I know this journal has really helped me keep track of my progress in the past, so I am going to keep it updated so I can finally push through this plateau!

Lisa, Mizzie, Addie and bellyoff, I hope you are all still pushing hard! Can't wait to hear from you all! I'll try and check back this afternoon.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Hi Andy!

Just stopping in to let you know that I've officially made it to the 200-club! I had my son on 10/6/10 and in the 2 weeks since then I've lost about 25lbs. I guess breastfeeding (and maintaining during the pregnancy) really paid off! It's a wonderful "jump-start" back into weight-loss. My goal is to lose 50lbs. total by November 12th ... that will be a year since I've started. I'm only 5lbs. away now!

Life is hectic with a new baby and a three-year old, but I'm looking forward to trying to get back into a solid workout routine once I'm cleared for physical activity (probably next week). Woo!

Leaving the 300-club feels great!!

Hey all!

Opened an old email and found the some links to my journal! Life has been pretty good for me lately. Work is busy busy, but its good :D

I've still been sticking to my diet very well, but I havent been exercising at all lately. As such, I about right where I left off those months ago. It seems like these days I truly struggle with daily motivation. I used to be so driven and determined. I was borderline obsessive with it, but it really worked haha. Its funny, as soon as I got a job where I couldn't spend all day on this website, a lot of that ambition went out the door. Anyways, going forward, I really want to get my routine going again, I feel like I just need that spark I got from this website in the past.

My MINI GOAL this week is to stick to my workout plan. I feel like if I can just get in a habit again, itll come naturally. So herrrre goes.

I'd love to end this year 200 lbs flat, but its going to be a veritable mountain of work. Anyways, I sincerely hope I see a lot of old faces around here still!

Hey everyone! WHEW, what an exhausting week!

I got back from my business trip in LA last night. Lets just say I wasn't able to stick to as rigid of a diet as if I was at home. I also didn't get to exercise, mainly because when I wasnt working, I was trying to get some sleep haha. Anyways, came home last night, and slept in this morning (which is always a :D ). Facing the bad news, I jumped on the scale and the results are.........239.2. Nah bad at all! Im just glad that slip up didnt push me past 240. So far today i am sticking to my diet, planning on grilling some chicken later so I can have some good munch food this week. Other than that, going to lift hard tonight!

Hey all, been working hard and staying with. Enjoyed the weather today and went on a really good long hike. Even ran the last mile out off the trail. I'm glad I got the ball rolling. Funny thing is, its easier to maintain a lifestyle change than start it. Odd eh?

Been working hard and staying good.

Weigh in this morning showed 231.6

Im shooting for 10 pounds a month - I dont think that is a crazy amount, and I can finally be at that goal weight.

Gotta stay the course!
