Weight-Loss Amazing Race Style Challenge

Weight-Loss
Dont worry about the dancing Wulsk. All that you really need to be able to do is eat cabbage. I am sure that we are all quite good at eating so that shouldnt be much of a problem.

I envisage myself eating the cabbage and not dancing.

OH YES, it has been already discussed! I must read more carefully. I am sorry I was too excited... haha! :hat:

I will eat cabbage!

I really wanna try out this dance thing but I, like most of you, do invision myself eatting cabbage.

My team will have our name by tomorrow. I still need to hear back from them concerning a few names I sent in. :)

Okay...when I saw the vodka challenge - I immediately ran down to the liquor store and stocked up -- so I'm ready for my 200.5 ounces of VODKA this week!!! :cheers2:

JUST JOSHIN! lol...I'm going to attempt the Russian dance as soon as my coffee kicks in...but I have bad knees..so I think I'll be getting creative with cabbage.

Are you going to post the team threads in here? Or will they be in the challenges section?

I actually like green cabbage...I simply just cut it up and put it in my salad with regular tossed lettuce - red is also good in salad as well:)

abbage and i have this agreement wherein i don't eat it and it doesn't make me ill. Hopefully DDR has prepared me for the russian dance ( or I'm preparing for a very disgusting week) In fact I would much rather do the vodka challenge ^-^

Raw cabbage is easy to digest - or fix up. But I think the challenge is for cooked cabbage. Of course I could be wrong again, wouldn't be the first time!

Cinderelly-the detour rules stipulated BOILED cabbage. We'll need Kimberly to clarify if raw or steamed will suffice, also.

No - you girls are right :)DAMN!!! LOL

I know ...I'm going to try to do the dance. Don't know if I could do it for 1 min. though. I'll have to see if my teen can do it!

If not I'm going to surf for some good boiled cabbage recipes. I don't mind sauerkraut, but I don't think I could eat that much of it in one serving.

Does anyone know how many heads of cabbage you need to get the 5 cups of boiled? I've never made cabbage. Does it reduced down like spinach?

Also, do we have to eat the 5 cups in one day or is that over the course of the week?

I dont think that I could eat 5 cups of it in one day.

I was hoping that we could measure the 5 cups of cabbage raw as I was planning on making a big pan of soup (with cabbage, pulses and other veg) and ploughing my way through it as the week goes on.

I have the same problem if that is allowed as I am not sure how many cabbages I will need to buy.

Eat 5 cups of boiled cabbage (Russians apparently eat a lot of boiled cabbage) during the week. 1 cup of raw green cabbage only has 22 calories, and is an excellent source of vitamin C. Feel free to make cabbage soup, or add other diet-friendly things to your cabbage.

Usually the rule of thumb is measure raw, then cook (for vegs and meats). So, 5 cups raw, then boil it and eat it.

Kimberly can clear that up if I am wrong.

And the detour post said over the course of the week, not in one day.

Here's an interesting tidbit about cooked cabbage from Wikipedia: Cabbage is often added to soups or stews. Cabbage soup is popular in central Europe and eastern Europe, and cabbage is an ingredient in some kinds of borscht. Cabbage is also used in many popular dishes in India. Boiling tenderizes the leaves and releases sugars, which leads to the characteristic "cabbage" aroma. Boiled cabbage has become stigmatized in North America because of its strong cooking odor and the belief that it causes flatulence. Boiled cabbage as an accompaniment to meats and other dishes can be an opportune source of vitamins and dietary fiber. Stuffed cabbage is an East European delicacy. The leaves are softened by parboiling or placing the whole head of cabbage in the freezer, and then filled with chopped meat and/or rice.

I wonder if par-boiled would count? I could do stuffed cabbage. :D

I tried the "dance". I'm sure it did not look pretty. I could only go from a "squat" position, no way could I get any closer to the floor as per the video. So I guess it's boiled cabbage for me!

There are lots of recipes out there for just pure boiled cabbage. I am amused by the titles: Yum- Yum Boiled Cabbage, Good Boiled Cabbage (as opposed to Bad?), $Boiled Dinner$ (cause it's a money saver?). But the one that sounded the easiest to digest was called: Cabbage Slaw with Boiled Dressing (but of course the cabbage wasn't boiled.) ;)

Hope everyone else is having just as much fun with this as I am.

It would be VERY hard to stuff enough cabbage to eat 5 cups.

:D Yeah, I know, but I was thinking about making a dish here and there to get in the 5 cups.
