Great stuff Sarah! I went to the gym yesterday and have that lovely tingly feeling of the first time in ages :)

90 minutes sounds rough, I put the limit on 30 at a time! :p

Hey, going to gym AT ALL immediately rips off your "Lazy" label, make no mistake! Have fun at the gym, be proud!

Many of us find the water a bit of a struggle at first. It does get easier as you get used to it - and I look at the ability to not have to drink as much water as a great reward for weightloss. It gives you milestones that you can really appreciate every day.

Monday: 26/05/08

At least 3 hours exercise out walking.
Pedometer readings at end of day:
---Steps = 29,871
---Distance = 11.55 miles
My Food / Drink:
2.5 litres of cold water
some diet cola
3 weetabix, sweetener, 350 ml skimmed milk
2 large handfuls honey Shreddies
Chicken breast, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, parsnip, gravy
1 banana
3 plums
1 kiwi fruit
2 clementines
1 peach
1 pear
1 pear
1 apple
Sugar free jelly (half a sachet)

I am such a creature of habit that my food and walking is pretty repetitive.

Hi, how is everyone?
I've been feeling really tired today... is anyone else feeling this? Hope I get past it soon.

Tuesday
Exercise: 1 hour fast walking, half up hill
2.5 litres water: done
breakfast: egg white omlette, tomotoes and onions
snack: light babybell cheese and small handful of almonds
lunch: mixed salad and tofu
snack: teaspoon peanut butter
dinner: quorn sausages, cooked carrots and spinach
snack: handful dried apricots

Do people have a set time when they stop eating for the day? If so, does it help?

Hope you all are having/had a good day

I am tired but then again i hope I would be- I got up at 430am.
I try to do the stop eating at 730 thing but I really do not hold myself to it. I probably would have better success if I did.
My day is fine- little frustrated in myself from last week but good overall.:)

Hi Bigguy!

Yeah I'd be worried if u weren't tired after getting up at that time! Why did you have to get up so early?!
I think i just love sleeping too much for my own good unfornunately...
I'm gonna try the time limit on eating thing starting tomorrow, we'll c how long it lasts!

Glad to hear your having an overall good day, n don't feel frustrated it was a holiday weekend wasn't it?

While it was a holiday weekend it still sucked that I did not do much this weekend to lose weight or even workout.
I get up early everyday- today was just slightly earlier since my wife and I had a doctor's appointment. I am usually up at 500 or so for work.:D

I need to try the 'closing the kitchen' thing again. I really think it would help me out.

My name is Brian by the way..

Sorry Brian!

I was looking for a post with your name before i sent the message, but couldn't find it! I'm Leila.
The closing kitchen thing cud be one for the bonus challenges thread!

Hope your wife was ok at the doctors. Your both expecting a new arrival aren't you? Congratulations!!

Everything was great actually. Never better. Thank you for the congratulations.
We need to go every week due to the incredible struggle it was to get pregnant- 4 years or so- which is fine with me.
we get an ultrasound every week!
We just need to get there real early.

Aww I'm so glad everything is going well, and definitely worth the early mornings!
Is it too early to tell whether your having a boy or a girl? Or do u want to keep it a surprise?

Way to early. She is in her 8th week.

we want to know-whenever we find out it is a surprise and we need to buy things and set up a room!:D

I'd want to know too, its fun for everyone knowing whether to buy pink or blue presents! Aww well I'm really happy for ya, congrats again!

This will make it easier to track the exercise for me rather than have them in separate posts.
hope there is no issue with this- if so I will delete it...

Leila - I have just realised that I never replied to your question about a pedometer. I did enter something just after you posted - but something must have gone wrong with the submission as the posting is not there!

I would definitely recommend a pedometer. I love mine. I find that it challenges me to keep my stepcount to a respectable level. My concept of a respectable level has changed dramatically over the past year - but if my steps are not at a level that I like - I often pop out and walk an extra time around the block or put some music on and dance to bring the numbers up.

One of my friends suggested that I get a pedometer - and recommended the kind that she had. She got hers from Weight Watchers and I got her to get one for me.

I wear my pedometer all day long from when I get up in the morning until bedtime. They say that we should all try to do at least 10,000 steps. Every step of the day is the only reasonable way to judge that.

I have now reached the final stages of the weight loss phase - and joined Weight Watchers two weeks ago in order to be able to gain from their experience in dealing with maintenance. The fact that I use a WW pedometer is becoming quite useful already in that my pedometer displays how many WW points my walking has earned. This can easily be translated into food. Every day since joining WW - my walking has so far earned me 6.5 or 7 points.

Thanks for your compliment on my weightloss to date. It has been hard work - but well worth it.

Hey all!

I went to gym last night, but rather than do a proper workout I just fumbled around figuring out the circuit. Hopefully Thursday will be more productive now that I know what to do!

Today's food:

2 weetbix and milk

1 apple
1 small tub yoghurt, fat free berry flavoured

The nastiest salad I've ever made!

Pasta
Grated carrots
Grated cheese
Italian light dressing and pepper.

Had to load up on chilli salt to get it down! (Almost the end of the month... groceries!)

10 mini rice cakes fruit chutney flavour
2 or 3 jelly sugary sweets
Grilled chicken wrap (chicken, lettuce and tomato on white tortilla)
5 small rice cakes with yoghurt coating on one side

I have been doing well with my water, much easier by now! I'm going for my second running session tonight, wish me luck!

Leila - I dont have a set time when I stop eating for the day - and am often still eating after 10pm. I dont drink too much water during the morning unless I have a keep fit class (I havent had any keep fit classes for a while because of instructions after an operation).

I do a long walk in the morning which is over 6 miles long. I normally only have a couple of mouthfuls of water before that as I dont want too many toilet breaks. Generally I have a late and large breakfast after that - when I have at least half a litre of water.

In the afternoon I walk closer to home and can pop in at home or a couple of shops to use facilities.

The fact that my walking takes so much out of my day means that I am generally not eating and drinking then - so still have quite a lot of water to drink in the evening - not to mention calories to have (we need to get all our nutrients and keep calories reasonably high in a controlled way). I love fruit - so am normally still drinking water and eating fruit until quite late.

Some people seem to think that there is benefit in a food curfew - but the official stance of this forum seems to be that there is little benefit in it - and the big thing that counts is total calories in the day. Obviously - the earlier that you eat - the greater is your chance of having expelled the food weight at the toilet when you weigh yourself the next day - but this has no real bearing on your rate of fat loss. There are some people who can keep a better control on their total calories in the day if they do not eat after a certain time - but everyone is different like that. Often with calories it is not a question of what time you eat - but what you eat. Eating celery at midnight will not make you fat - while eating chocolate or cakes at 3pm could easily!

Morning Everyone! WOW am I SORE! I did the strength training yesterday on top of my walking for the first time in a few months and it's the "just started exercising again soreness". It's a good feeling though - means that I did something!

I didn't eat any type of dessert last night after dinner.

I was tired too all day yesterday. It was weird - usually exercise in the morning has the opposite effect, but I was just beat.

And I forgot that this would be the week of frustration for me when it comes to exercise. Once I get going and committed - I have no problem doing hour long workouts with weights and cardio 6 days a week -- but in the beginning it's every other day because I get so sore.

Patience is definitely not in my nature - still working on that!

But, total exercise min for the week for me are 95. I plan on taking the dogs for a long walk tonight when I get home. I start work earlier today, so won't be able to squeeze it in beforehand.

So, question. Any of you that have been successful out there - what do you do for the junk food cravings throughout the day?

We have these evil little vending machines at work that just call my name every afternoon. They're all the way in the back of the building, but I sit in my office and just fight with myself over wanting some SUGAR!

I try to take healthy snacks as a diversion - but the cravings do suck. I did do well yesterday by avoiding the birthday cake - got as far as getting out change to get something out of the vending machine and left it on my desk, eating an apple instead. I was very proud of myself!

Got all my water in yesterday - and did very well eating.

Well, I'll be back later to post what I ate for the day. Our team is doing great! Keep up the good work!

Well done darling! Be proud and keep it up!
