A rant about basic concepts I

So you beg for your account to be removed, and then when it is blocked, you come back and reregister just to continue harassing people.

I think the next time the admin should block your IP address rather than just your account.

I think it was fair of me to defend these accusations don't you?

Yes I was frustrated by the fact that I was not allowed to post my personal website, and yeah I could have handled it better in how I voiced that...but I will not sit buy and have someone call me a liar when I clearly have shown the truth.

I think you're making a really big fool of yourself by not letting this go.

Look, I'm gonna be very straight with you here ... not playing games, trying to bait you, or anything. What do you think you're accomplishing here except making yourself look petty and kinda silly? No one is paying attention to any of this except as a trainwreck for amusement. I certainly didn't read through your whole post ... I just noticed that you were back and making a fuss again and it amused me.

Seriously. If you want to post and give advice, then do it. If you want to disagree with Steve, then do so. Steve and I have disagreed before - somewhat loudly. :) But we do it with respect for each other instead of trying to score points or discredit the other.

You came into someone's house and broke a rule. It doesn't matter whether you think its a reasonable rule or not - it's not your house. And complaining about it and attacking the owners and moderators of the board is as rude as walking into someone's home, having the owners ask you not to display certain behavior, and then bitching them out because you don't like the rule.

The rule here is no links to your commercial sites. The OWNER of the board has given Steve permission to link his site. Whether you like it or not, the owner of the board gets to set whatever rule he wants and none of us really have much say about it. We either choose to abide by his rules or we go play someplace else. If you think an exception should be made for you, then talk to the owner don't go pitching tantrums about it and then expect people to feel sympathy for you.

Ok? This isn't a flame or a bitch or anything other than some friendly advice. Right now no one takes you seriously or really cares. If you really want to participate here, then do so. Otherwise ... well ... *shrug* if you want to look silly and childish, you're doing a really good job of it.

OK..In all seriousness I agree..I handled this badly at the beginning...don't argue that point at all. And there is no reason right now anyone should take me serious...I realize that trust is something I need to earn from everyone here and I would like that chance. I just don't want that prior behavior to be re-hashed over and over. I apologized and to me that should at least allow me to get some sort of respect back and I don't feel I got it...most of it justified, but some of it was not. I don't deserve to be called a liar....I have spoken nothing but the truth. I disagree with Steve on a lot of things, but unless he is the owner of this forum, he should not be allowed to ban me simply cause I disagree with him. I am attempting to join this discussion now in a serious manner and I think that I should at least be given the opportunity to do so.

D.

Also, you were banned b/c you're a spammer. While I'd love to intelligently debate training with you, you've already proven your inability to do so. There is no reason to keep you here.

I welcome debate and disagreement when it's packaged properly.

You crossed the line in too many ways. You're lucky you were given a chance to post as much as you did as we typically ban any spammer from square one.

why can't people sit back and detach themselves from the situation enough to realize how stupid they look. No one is gonna agree w/ someone as unstable as he is at this point.

(delayed onset muscle soreness)

It doesn't matter if I use weights or not, more often than not I am a little sore the next day. Going through the exercises without weights right now is enough to have me feeling it a little the next day.

Is that a bad thing?

Just FYI.. I have Cerebral palsy so my muscles don't respond the same as someone who doesn't have CP. A certain level of discomfort is a fact of life. A majority of the reason I'm getting back into the habit of regular exercise is to stop losing muscle mass at the alarming rate that I have been.

I don't know enough about CP to comment intelligently on that part of it, but I do know that muscle soreness is NORMAL when you first start pushing your muscles past what they normally do. Whether that means working with weights or just exerting more force with your own body .. you'll probably be sore at first.

As you build muscle and strength it will begin to take more effort for you to become sore ... not that soreness is a goal, but it is one way to know that you've worked that muscle. I personally enjoy the sort of stretchy-sore feeling I get after a really good workout, but not the painfully-sore feeling that says I overdid it. :)

Same here. Some days it's the nice "hey I did something" soreness.. other days I'm wondering what the heck I did.

Thanks. You confirmed what was in my mind.

Steve, I am on of those newbies to this site. Yours was the first forum I read and you seem very informed with regards to weight loss, calories, metabolism etc. So what about starting a weight training program. Your suggestions for a routine, preferably working different body parts each time. I am trying to get back into the fitness world, just running these days for cardio and back to gym this week. Any advise is welcome.

Read the sticky called, "The Conceptual Side of Lifting Weights."

If you have specific questions from there, I'm all ears.

Wow! An incredible wealth of knowledge here! Thanks for everyone's input -- regardless of what level of fitness you are currently at. I just read through the entire thing in one sitting (okay with a break or two in between to use the potty - LOL)! Thanks for clearing up a bunch of things for me. I will be back to read some more of the stickies. Its good to read that I'm on the right track! Looking forward to learning more here!!

RE: Rantig

Hey, Y'all,

I am new, and, unfortunatley, as quiet as I try to be...I can't.

the rant that I just witnessed, is valid, though I don't know if it is necessary for this forum.

WE all know that eating healthy and proportionally in addition to drinking water and exercising is the key to weight loss, but that is easier said than done. BUT, non-the-less, thanks for the reminder.

I am here because the American Heart Association says I am obese. OBESE!!! I am 5 ft tall and 130 lbs, I dance 3 days a week and eat healthy every day.

Your first post on this forum is telling me that a post I made years ago isn't applicable to this forum?

Wow.

Okay... whatever knocks your socks off, I suppose.

WE all know that eating healthy and proportionally in addition to drinking water and exercising is the key to weight loss

Did you read the entire post? If so, I'm surprised this is all you took away from it.

You are an expert in what is appropriate on our forum - despite never having posted here before.

You imply that you are more of an expert than the American Heart Association - I presume that you have written to them in an equally eloquent manner.

Many obese people dance three times a week or more - so that means nothing.

Many people believe that they eat healthily until they evaluate the nutrient content of their diet - so saying "I eat healthy" means nothing.

"Rantig" is not a word in the English language.

Good luck in tackling your obesity.

I just went the the AHA website and entered your stats in their BMI calculator. At 5'0" and 130 lbs I got the following:

Your score:
25.9
Your status:
25 - 29.9: Overweight

This is the link I used, btw:

So not really sure where you get "OBESE!!!" from.

As a new person to the forums I thank everybody on here who gives their time to try and explain what to me is a big black hole.
I am obese - only blame myself and I am now "doing" something about it.
I must admit that my head has been so filled with low carb, high protein, atkins, jenny craig etc etc I just could even work out what to eat in th end.
I am now eating sensibly, fruit, veg, salad, some meat, chicken etc - but I am also exercising - its scarey because after three months of this, I have lost weight and I am worried if I cant get to the gym on a daily basis - what a changed mindset that is for me.
Anyhow I only have one problem - I have shin splints and now find using the treadmill nearly impossible. - any suggestions to overcome this. I am using the elliptical instead at the moment - will that make much difference?
Thanks again to the wise ones
