Week 4 Mini Challenge

This week's challenge is to concentrate on eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. They are full of vitamins and minerals that are VERY IMPORTANT to you health.

This site explains how Vitamins and minerals from fruits and vegetables can help decrease your risk for cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, cancers, Gastrointestinal disease, and vision problems. Its really interesting. :)

Good luck on week 4 everyone!

I lost another pound this week. I really have to work for the weight loss now -- it's not as easy as it used to be. The cardio challenge was tough. I tried to mix some jogging in with my walking, but I'm pretty out of shape.

Anyway, thanks for the fruit/veg challenge. That will be fun!!

Increasing my exercising really paid off, I lost 4.6lbs this past week! I'm so excited about this week's mini-challenge, too. I've been having a hard time getting in vegetables since I've started watching what I eat, I even bought some vegetable juice in preparation, lol :D

Hope everyone else is doing well!

BTW, I do eat plenty of of vegetables, especially broccoli and tomatoes, but I don't typically eat fruit at all. Fruit is full of sugar and very high in carbs, both of which are the enemy to my ability to lose weight.

Fruits have a lot of good vitamins and minerals in them. But I understand everyone here is doing something different to help them lose weight. So i'm not judging. I made it a fruits AND veggies challenge.... so you can just eat veggies and get all the credit.... likewise you can eat all fruits and get all the credit. Just trying to promote good eating habits.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

Well ;-) Technically, a tomato is a fruit. The reason the US gov classified tomatoes as vegetables back in the late 1800s was to protect the interests of US based tomato growers. There was no import tax on fruits, but there was an import tax on vegetables.

BTW, peppers (chili, bell, sweet, etc) are also fruits. They are very closely related to tomatoes.

So, I actually do eat plenty of fruit.

Well, that just narrowed my vegetable list down some more ... haha. Most of the time the only "vegetables" I got in a day were tomatoes and peppers. Great ... now I realize the only veggie I've been eating is lettuce. lol

I bought some V8 (low sodium) to try to get in some more veggies in my day ... I'm sure it's an acquired taste ... it wasn't too terrible, but it's definitely the kind of thing I'd want a chaser for, haha!

I knew that. But I thought you said you wouldn't eat fruits. You can have an all-tomato diet if you want! rofl.
