Weight-Loss 6 Week New Year's Goal Challenge

Weight-Loss
agh I think I missed this challenge by one day. Even though it starts today I didn't weigh myself this morning and I didn't give any information by 8 pm last night.... :(

Well as long as its ok with the coordinator and everyone else then I'll join. I just weighed myself though it's the middle of the day and I'm 145.6. I'll PM my email address now.

I did a 50 minute cycling class and then a 60 minute barbell class this morning so that's already 1 hr 50 minutes. I think my eating will be the toughest challenge.

If I can join then I'd like to be on team 1 please :)

Today, Tuesday is the start of the challenge. You can give me yesterday's weight and email address by tonight (Tues night).

Claudia, since I am creating the spreadsheet I will put my weight in that and set up the "example" for everyone for their data entry.

Yeah Hooey!!

I would like to get everyone's starting weight and I will input it into the spreadsheet as soon as its posted by you. I will send you all of the email addresses tonight, along with a list of the two team's members in alphabetical order so everyone can quickly find their stats section on the spreadsheet easier.

Blancita...

Sorry I know I said no preference but could you put me on team 2.. I hope I'm not causing any trouble..

Also another thought.. the word "eliminated" seems so harsh.. And since the challenge is only 6 weeks.. only 6 people will be eliminated.. and I know if I happen to be 1 of 6 out of 40 to be eliminated I'll be pretty bummed!! And that won’t be the best way for me to start the new year.. I could be the only person to feel this way if so that’s ok.. but does anyone agree with me?? I think the challenge should be the full 6 weeks and the winner should be named at the end... and still total the points at the end of every week to see how much harder we need to work it to win the challenge!!!! Or something along those guidelines so no one gets discouraged... anyways just a thought.. if everyone disagrees that’s ok and I won’t care at all.. but just wondered what everyone else thought about the idea??

Thanks for your input :). I've done a bunch of challenges in the past, and believe me, the fear of being "eliminated" from the challenge is what is most motivating. You will see this when you're playing along. So because we need that fear of being eliminated, someone who is not pulling their weight will have to go. Again, you cannot be eliminated from the challenge if you received your max points for the week (meaning you did your 4 hours of exercise, including 1 hr of strength training, and you ate well every day that week). Given that there are so many people joining, at first the people who get kicked out are likely those who are dropping out anyway.

aRe we setting up our goals, so to speak, cals we are eating or tryin gto eat what our eating goals are with menu and such ? Im not counting cals, I dont...so I will need to say my plan is to eat healthy daily and 2 pieces of fruit kinda thing?

It would be a good idea if participants set out in their team threads (which I will post later) what eating plan they are following, whatever it happens to be. I know a lot of people dont calorie count and that's OK as long as you have a plan of some sort that you're sticking with and that works.

What's the view on alcohol consumption? Is it just none what so ever or if you consume that day then you dont get the points for that day or is there a max number of drinks? I've tried to cut drinking completely and it's just not a good time with me being 21 and in my last year of college lol. It's ok if we don't get points for those days but I just want to have a clear idea.

Awesome, we are going to have team threads! This is getting a little daunting with trying to go through all the posts to find the nitty gritty information I'm looking for. lol. As far as I can tell:

  • Keep track of your "points" daily on your own and we will also be entering them in through google spreadsheet, when that information becomes available.

  • 6 week picture challenge is available, take a before pic!
  • Stick to the course!

I always need a list.... :willy_nilly:

Thanks for making a list, I was getting confused too! I'm going to take a before pic now!!

Can't wait until tonight!

OH and for future clarification: what timezone are we talking about for deadlines? I live on the east coast!

YES!!! Please keep track of your points separately as well as entering in the spreadsheet. The document will be LIVE and other people can accidentally delete stuff....so just to be safe, track independently as well.

First draft of spreadsheet is nearly done and I'll post the link soon.

If there is any confusion, just re-read the first post which explains the rules. I will start three threads tonight, one for each team to communicate and route each other on, and a third which contains a link to the spreadsheet (I think that's how the google doc works) in the first post and then will contain challenge information such as eliminated players, reminders, extra bonus point challenges, rule clarification questions etc. That way this lengthy start-up thread can be put to bed.

EST would be easiest for me. You might notice I tend to be pretty flexible though as long as I'm not being unfair to other participants, so if anyone ever has an issue with posting points etc just let me know and we'll work it out.
