I would kindly ask to withdrawl my prior statement!! :D That challenge would not be good, I just said that I could USE 8 hours sleep each night. ;) :)
 
I would love to see something 'hard core' with option to earn alot points, or more than 5 I guess. I dont want to 'wash away' sins of the past weeks but it would be nice for us to have a heck of a good week. Maybe a multipronged approach earning points for extra excercise and some sort of food/health challenge?

the sleep thing is totally out for many of us with kids multiple jobs, weird shifts etc plus some people (and Ihate them) jsut dont need alot!!
 
I would love a challenge that requires participants to actually post in the challenge chat threads a certain number of times or maybe listing food eaten for a week? I am sort of irritated/disappointed by those who joined the challenge but give and get no support from others in the challenge because they just fill out the spreadsheet from behind the scenes. I really dont see the point from a motivation/support standpoint. Sorry if that sounds bitchy..

I couldn't agree with you more! :beerchug: With this challenge, individuals will only get out of it what they put in. I feel that people would do better in the challenge/ lose more weight/ work out more if they were an active part of the competition, instead of just logging on a few times a week to fill out their scores. :seeya:
 
What do you think about this for a challenge? 5 points for each hour of exercise that you do if you have NEVER done it before. Never been to a spin class? five points for an hour. Never been rock climbing? 5 points. As many as you can earn, or perhaps to a max of 25 points.

Well, lol, I like that idea, however, I already do alot of diff things, lol, it would be one more or servel more things to add...

I like idea trying something new BUT I have tried everything available to me at the gym I currently attend! hmmm
 
I know that I'd have to use my imagination to try something new. I'm always getting into something, so except yoga (which I'm not doing :D) I don't know what.
 
I like the try something new idea! This might force me outside to learn some winter sports (finally)

Also, I find I haven't been getting my 5-10 fruits and veggies lately... with only a certain amount of calories, I usually want half a bagel with pb. Should this be part of the food component?
 
what about.........

Xpts or 0.X pts per post during the week in your respective thread (increase motivation)
Xpts per day if you get 5-10 fruit/veggies plus X bonus points for all week = 10pts (change some habits, get healthier not just leaner)
Xpts for each new hours worth physical activity new to you (could lead to something good)
Xpts for >4-5 or whatever hours excercise (help to reward those doing long workouts but dont have many 'new' options)

theoretically you could get around say 30-50 bonus points that way (just a guess) which is still less than eating on par all week

I think adding it as a bonus or a requirement for the next challenge is a good idea. Personally I'm not that chatty, even in person; though I tried to participate and give advice/encouragement where I thought I had something to add. I actually thought there was a lot going on in the threads. Had it been a requirement I probably would have added more and been a little less choosy with my words because I'd know that everyone else knew I was trying to keep my post count up. I'm not sure that make sense to someone who may be a little more naturally chatty though.

This could be the way to do it, like go out with a bang for the last week!

A posting in your chat thread challenge would not be retroactive as that would never be fair. On the flip side, I dont want to force people to participate in the threads either if they're not naturally inclined. But perfect grammar in a post is never needed around this forum. People are so nice and open minded on WLF, I must say...

I absolutely agree. Its more of a personal quirk than anything else I think...
 
OK, so for next week we're going to go out with a huge BANG! As mom2 suggested, we will have a mix of bonus challenges going and you can win all the points or just some. Let's have about 4 bonuses:

1. 5 points for each additional hour of exercise over the standard 4 hours, up to a max of 3 hours (sorry peeps, most people dont always have the time to do more than 7 hours of exercise).

2. 5 points if you post your daily food in a separate food posting thread that I will create; that will be interesting to get ideas from other people's diets.

3. 5 points if you post at least 5 times in your chat thread on 4 different days. Dont be mad about this one friends. The whole point of a support forum is to actually support each other :D smile. That should count for somethin' around here LOL.

4. Everyone give your vote for one more bonus challenge. Whoever's bonus idea that gets the most interest wins.

Does this sound OK?
 
so where are we going to put our ideas for another bonus challenge?
