5/3/1 I Smell a Kilted One

All events in Highland Games are really quite strenuous. But the cabre seems to attract the most attention ... other than the kilted men, of course :D

The comps are usually held over a weekend, and there's lots of dancing, bagpipes, sheep (Tom, please note this!), and huge men in skirts. It's like a dream come true for Scottish wannabes :)

They're really quite family oriented events. This is our next "biggy":

I would think the more steps the more difficult? It's a hell of a lot of weight your "slinging" around there...lol

Eh. Depends on the weight of the caber. I've never counted but I bet I get a good 15 or 20 steps at least.

yeah... in the vid I was thinking "man, a small mistake and you might be dog food"...lol Learning must be a real challenge!

Yup...specially when you don't get out of the way. I tried to catch it the first time I lost control of it. I had this black and blue bruise for a week up and down my forearm.

Wow. It looks like it takes lots of control and technique to really get it right. It amazes me how much you have to know and do to manipulate the caber correctly.

Very cool :)

I would agree with that. I pride myself on being a pretty good caber flipper. Not great...but pretty good.

p.s. You're beautiful.

Phase I
Week 3; Day 3

A)Military press:
Warm up sets-barXlots, 95X8
Work sets-125X5, 140X3, 160X5

B1)seated db shoulder press:50sX16, 12, 8
B2)chins:BWx14, 11, 7

Next week is a deload week. I'll then recalculate my percentages and increase the intensity on the four main lifts. I'll also at that time add in one more set of whatever accessory lifts I'm doing.

I'd do 12 phases of this before I test my 1RMs.

Damn! that's a lot for that kind of weight!

Geez...I can imagine...that hurt....

Well looked like you had things handled pretty well in the vid :)

p.s. You're beautiful.

aw...so sweet :D

I will agree with what you said completely.

*Deload*
Phase I
Week 4; day 1

A)Deadlift:
Warm up sets-135X10, 155X6
Work sets-210X5, 225X5, 240X12

B)back extension machine:80X20X2

This is the deload week. I'll move onto Phase II next week.

We had a great Sunday. Drove out to Tulsa and 6 of us grilled out and stripped, planed, and sanded down 13 trees into cabers.

I saw *stripped* and my heart skipped a beat.....:p

and I promise this will be my last invasive post in your journal....:D

ha1. The last time I stripped I had a lot of alcohol in me. I woke up with dollar bills in my nipple ring hoops.

p.s. Keep invading.

HAHAHA! thats fantastic

Yeah. It was. Well, what I remembered of it. I woke up with a hell of a hangover inside this reallllly nice house. I kinda' meandered around the house until I found the owner of it. What followed was blatantly and completely of an adult nature.

Phase I
Week 4; Day 2

A)Inc bench press:155X5, 175X5, 185X15

I just feel horrible. My eyes and nose are running like crazy. I have this horrid pressure between my eyes and in my nasal cavity. I can't stop sneezing. So I did my main lift for the day, cut out any accessory work, and called it a day.

Let's see...we officially end throwing season as of Saturday when we do a demo/friendly competition at Ft. Smith. Seems we're the guests of honor and they'll be treating us very nicely at the buffet that just happens to be stocked full of beer and miscellaneous spirits. And they got us hotel rooms that are right across the street so we can basically just stumble there and pass out.

Jon has talked me into entering a powerlifting competition put on by NASA in late January. Last he talked me into doing something other than throwing, it was a strongman competition and we ended up with the worst case of shin splints ever. But cheers to new challenges.
