3 Months Till Summer Challenge

Ok everyone...for those of you who don't read my journal I will explain why I decided to make a 3 month challenge. I have been recently employed at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. I feel that for my job I need to kick it into high gear. I also think with summer coming I want to be able to wear a decent looking swimming suit and feel comfortable in it.

So this is my first make for a challenge. I am open for any and all ideas. I'm thinking of making this challenge start on the 15th..which is in 10 days. And then end on June 15th (the day I move into my dorm/apartment up in sandusky)

Weigh-In's will happen once a week. Since the 15th is a Saturday and I know a lot of you weigh-in mid week. So I was thinking making the official weigh in on Fridays. I know some of you will have a set weigh-in day that is hard to break. If you can make your weigh-in day on Friday that would be great. If you don't want to do that..I understand but please try and keep it close to Friday if at all possible :D

Teams There will be no teams in this challenge. It will be a solo challenge. Although when we do mini challenges you might be paired up with another challenger.

Top 3 Losers:I think that who ever loses the most in the 3 month time period (top 3) will get mentioned in my online blog that i keep (if they want me to) maybe even with a before and after photo.

How I will dertermine the top 3 losers will be most % of weight lost since everyone has different amounts to lose and might lose at a slower pace. If you break your set goal and go past it before the end of the 3 months I will award bonus points (see more under point system)

We will also have bonus point awarded for mini challenges.
At the end of the challenge I will add all of your bonus points together along with your % lost. so if you lose 25% of your weight and earn 10 bonus points this is what it will look like
25% +10 bonus points
We will determine the winner from there.

How to determine you % lost over all: lets say you weigh 240lbs and you lose 74lbs. You take the amount you lost divided by the amount you previsously weighed. So 74 lbs / 240 lbs = .30 or 30% body fat lost.

How you deteremine your % lost on a weekly basis: if you one week weight 200lbs and then you lose 5lbs between a weigh in you will have a 2.5% loss
5/200 = .025 > 2.5%



Setting Goals​
On Saturday March 15th you will post your current weight. That current weight will be your starting weight for the challenge. From there I want you to post 3 montly goals. Each goal will explain how much you want to weigh/loss during that month
Example:
Overall goal: 40lbs
March 15-April 15: I would like to lose 15 lbs.
April 15-May 15: I would like to lose 10lbs.
May 15-June 15: I would like to lose 15 lbs.

Bonus Point System
If you meet each of your monthly goals I will award you 2 bouns points. For every pound you lose past youer monthly goal I will award half a bonus point.
Example:
My goal for the 1st month is 15 lbs. I lose 18lbs your bonus points will be:
2 for meeting your goal + (.5*3 lbs extra of loss) = 3.5 bonus points will be awarded.

We will also have bonus point awarded for mini challenges.
At the end of the challenge I will add all of your bonus points together along with your % lost. so if you lose 25% of your weight and earn 10 bonus points this is what it will look like

We will determine the winner(s) from there.

I have set up a blog page for this challenge. The blog will be a fast and easy way for all of you to keep up to date with all the other challengers. I will update the blog weekly or as needed. I will post here to let you know that the blog has been updated.

I think it would be cool for there to be a weekly tip/idea for exercises and/or dieting. Whether it be a recipe or a new exercise program you found or made. I will go ahead an make a separate blog for this challenge and post a link on here for it.

I also am linking web pages such as this thread, the weight loss forum, and my own personal weight loss journal. If you have helpful websites that you think should be linked on the blog page let me know and I will add it! :)

Mini Challenges
I will have mini challenges held weekly/biweekly (depending on the challenge) If you have ideas for these mini challenges let me know. You will be awarded bouns points for each challenge completed. Each challenge will be worth a different amount of bonus points (depending on the length and size) Also you might be paired with another challenger for a mini challenge (depending again on what it is)

I like the idea of a 4 months challenge. I'm in if you do it. :)

I usually prefer to be in a challenge alone, and not with a team b/c my weight loss is steady but slow and I would feel guilty for making my team lose!

Any weigh in day is ok with me. I usually weigh in on Thursdays and I could use those numbers for the challenge if we chose another day.
 
This sounds like a great challenge! I'm a little unsure about having teams, but that's just because I'm new and don't know anybody yet. :blush5:
 
I made a summer solstice challenge if you feel like combining the two... its up to you. mine is also about 4 months. Mine will go from March 7th, to June 21st, which is the summer Solstice.. or the first day of summer.

A 2nd no on teams...which is ok..i don't mind either way. I just don't know how I would set up teams for this. and WELCOME to the 4 months till summer challenge

Thanks for the offer...i looked at your challenge and it looks like fun, but I was thinking of a challenge where no body got kicked or voted out. so combining our 2 might not be the best...you are free to join this challenge though if you like. maybe we can go off of eachothers challenges for extra support. This challenge is still a work in progress and I think starting tomorrow will be a bit to soon for me. Thanks for thinkg of it though!! :D I'm glad my mind isn't the only one with wheels turning around here :D

March 15th to June 15th is only 3 months, but I'm in once you figure it all out. I think I'd like it to be a solo challenge as well.

Oh wow...lol my bad...well then this is the 4 month in 3 months challenge lol....i will be a 3 month challenge...i can't change the title of the thread unless i close this one and create a new one....hmmm keep this one and have a laugh at my blonde moment...or...close it and start a new one...it's like to be or not to be lol
 
Your working at CP huh?? I worked there the summer of '97! Its a TOTAL blast!!! Where are you working at???

Anyways, my nursing classes start at the end of august and its soo important that I get in shape!!! I'm in!

Yes I am :D I will be a housing supervisor..so not technically in the Park it's self. But that's what I wanted...gives me more free time to ride rides and I'm not out in the sun or whatever the weather is 12 hours out of the day :D

Great to have you...I won't make the posting pics a mandatory thing...but I think I would be a great way to end the challenge with pics. Thanks for the input! :D
 
I am happy to join in but I am not comfortable with pictures either.

Glad to have you :) The pictures are not mandatory. I thought i would be fun to see the differences that we make in 3 months. You can still take pictures of yourself for just you alone and not post them. I think pictures are a great motivational tool. If you don't feel like being apart of the pictures that's fine :) I'm not going to make it mandatory :)
 
So, just curious, are we going to primarily use this thread or the set-up blog to do the challenge? Just want to figure out where we'll be posting everything (sorry I'm a little technology-slow) haha
