20lbs or less club

Thanks!

I know my husband is supportive but is tired of hearing me talk about diet and exercise and weight. I'm glad to have this place to talk about my struggles and accomplisments.

Thank you

I was about 132-133 there. That's when I would still wear shorts. I think it was the summer before last. I didn't wear shorts last summer, just capris. I'm working on it so that I can finally wear shorts again.

Welcome, Kdkenn!

Welcome, Kdkenn!

Kat_blue- CONGRATULATIONS!! That is awesome news!

Jennay - I'm so glad you had such a successful V-Day too.

CaseyAMartin - I'm glad yours was a good one too... I have to admit I'm super curious about your story!

Cym - Your story cracked me up too! I love it. You know, if it works, it works! Congrats on such a good V-Day. I ate ok today, but I'm still feeling like a total piglet after yesterday. Like you said, Cupid may have gotten me good this year, but I am SO ready for that Easter Bunny - bring it, bunny!

Well, it was my first V-Day with my boyfriend. He ordered me a nutrition/veganism book for Valentine's day. Very practical, but not romantic. It was his idea for me to cook him dinner for Valentine's Day so I did, and I poured my heart and soul out into a card....meanwhile my book hasn't arrived yet and I had to REMIND him TWICE while we were at walmart to get me a card. I was pretty mad about the whole thing but he meant no harm. He knows better for next year.

hehehe... I had a pretty unromantic v-day too... my fiance and I have been together for 7 years, and just had our anniversary a week ago, so we celebrated early. Plus - he just isn't that romantic.

I didn't even THINK about v-day candy... until I was in class on Wednesday night and had about 7 pieces of chocolate... and then conveniently forgot about it when I was posting all my info in my daily journal. =P

We did make heart shaped sugar cookies on Wednesday night however - which on their own really aren't too bad (75 calories, only 35 from fat) - but I think I ate about 5 of them yesterday - and they add up =(

KdKenn: that is a great pic..you've got miles of legs. I'm really jealous cause I'm such a shorty...I've been taking a weekly yoga class for nearly a year in the deluded belief that I can attain at least the illusion of being taller

CaseyAMartin: I dunno, I kind of think that was a super romantic gift...I mean it shows he listens to you and is thoughtful in selecting something you care about...as opposed to the typical guy who would make reservations at Sammy's Steakhouse and then go, in total shock, "Huh, you're a vegetarian????":)

Couragetobe: I think it's like eating standing up...food you forget to enter in your food diary doesn't really have calories...

hello

kdkenn- Welcome and glad you could join us!! This is definitely a great place for support.

I'm glad everyone made it though Valentine's Day. It doesn't have to be the traditional romantic to be nice either... those things are definitely nice, but I prefer less pressure for them. My hubby got me a one hour massage and surprised me with it when I woke up. He was being sneaky and just left it, so I saw it when I woke up. It was so sweet and I had fun calling him while he was on his way to work. Anyway, that's going to feel great when I get a chance to get it done.

I'm still doing good. I've had 2 full weeks now where I did 20 min tready first thing... and 5 additional workouts (variety of workout tapes). It's feeling great! It's a lot with working/school/2 kiddos and a hubby, but I can do it during the weight loss phase. I'll go back down to 4 workouts a week for maintaince.. more if I can. I can't wait to see progress. I feel like I can just start to see some change in my backside. It's exciting, but probably not too noticable yet.

Kat_blue - I think that sounds very romantic! Nothing better than a good massage (or facial, as mentioned earlier!) I am so impressed with your dedication to working out, especially given all the other things you have going on - keep it up! You deserve it!

I've had a rough weekend with things going on in my life. Things are great with my hubbie and bebe; it's just been a really tough last couple of weeks, and yesterday was a tough day. So, I haven't really been sleeping much and have had a couple of chow fests. I'm trying to get back into that good place in my head where I feel stronger and know that even though that 5th piece of chocolate promises up and down that it will make all my worries go away, really it just makes it all worse. I'm trying real hard not to be an "emotional eater," as they say. I've made huge strides in the past few months, particularly since joining this group, but I still lose my confidence sometimes. Anyway, listening to your successes is really heartening though, so keep up the great work - it's helping me too!

Do not expect perfection out of yourself. Emotional eating, IMO, is VERY difficult to get over. I have been a stress eater for a long time and I still have problems with it. Celebrate your progress.

Thank you!

Casey,
Thank you so much for your reply. That is just what I needed to hear. :) And I think you're so right. BTW, huge congrats on how well you're doing -- you're just movin on down on that countdown!!

AnnaBanana: I just got through browsing your fitday journal and was thinking about your difficulty staying within 1250 cal limitations. I'm wondering if part of the reason it's so hard for you to stick to is less due to "emotional eating" etc., and more that your body wants/needs more food right now? It looks like, even on days when you don't do any structured exercise, you are burning around 2000 cals...so is it possible you could still lose, but find it less stressful, at a lower calorie deficit?

I was wondering if you've considered doing a post in the "Harsh Truth" section and seeing if there might be some suggestions for losing back to pre-baby weight with less of a calorie restriction. I have 2 inches and 5 pounds on you (5'3/127lbs) and our work-outs are very different, but, just to give you an idea, when I asked for suggestions I was advised to do a "calorie bounce" with 3 days at 1500 and every 4th day at maint. cals. - once I got the hang of it (took awhile I admit) I'm finding it easier and easier to stick to my deficit amount on the 3 low cal days cause I can plan treats like meals out or a calorie dense dessert on my maint. day.

Cym - Thank you so much for your post! I didn't know about the "harsh truth" section. I'll have to look for it - great idea! I think your "calorie bounce" thing sounds like a good plan. I'd never thought of that. My main problem, you're right, is both emotional eating/confidence and true hunger (and sleepiness - teething baby  ) I'm all for a plan that involves less calorie restriction :D What kind of exercise do you do? Do you have a food journal? How do you plan out your day, mealwise?

p.s. Don't look at my food journal now... just ate 4 more chocolate marshmallow treats!

Anna -- I do a varying calorie thing too, based on my daily activity. 1350 on rest days, 1450 on cardio days, and 1650 on weight training days. This is what my trainer said to do. I agree the harsh truth board is probably a good place to get some advice to help you manage a little better. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing :)

You guys are the best!!

I'd share some with you, Casey, but I ate them all - ha!:D

Thank ya'll so much for the great suggestions! Jennay, I'm going to remember that too. That makes sense to have diff goals for diff workout days. You guys are the best!!!

I will let you know if the harsh truth folks have any good suggestions that might help others of you too.

Thanks again!

Anna

AnnaBananna;196321 What kind of exercise do you do? Do you have a food journal? How do you plan out your day said:
Annabanana I do a full body (free weights) routine with one exercise per body part M/W/F, and a yoga class on Saturday. I was running (avg. 4 miles) the other two days but just switched to 1 day run and 1 day HIIT. My food diary is at: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weight-loss-diary/8913-its-all-about-me.html. If you want to see some before and (almost) after pics click on cherylcym1's Public Gallery - AOL Pictures ....I hope you get get some good suggestions from the "Harsh Truth" ... personally I was really impressed with (most) of the ideas they gave me....if you get some conflicting advice just go with what makes the most sense:)

Cym- your pictures look great. It's easy to see you have worked hard for your transformation. Congrats!
