20 or under years old.

Your mother told you not to use a treadmill because you could possibly get disc degeneration? That is insane, people run, and exercise every singly day. I see no reason why you shouldn't get one, unless you already have back problems, in which case you should talk to your doctor before starting any exercise program... I mean, it surely is possible, but you are young and problems are much less likely to occur due to your exercising now than if you put it off another 10+years.

Edit. Also, your body loses and gains weight in predetermined areas. It's great to do different exercises, but none will guarantee that you will lose weight in the area that you are working. I'm sure you will slim your hips and but eventually if you eat healthy, and exercise though. :) Best wishes.

I couldnt even make i to my next shake without going crazy and ordering a pizza...so today I am fighting it. I am finding other better things to do, and in one hour and 12 minutes I can have my next shake...yay! Go me!

HEY GUYS!!!

Im a n00b, but I finally decieded to lose the extra pounds I have accumulated over the 20 years (well im just tired of being the fat friend lol). Anyways I turned 20 about a month ago and I started goin to the YMCA. I got about 80-90 pounds to lose not sure how much Im gonna stop at. Seems like trying to climb Mount Everest. Anyways this seems like great place to start and keep me motivated, and also to get my self esteem up lol ( Im kinda shy lol ). So I would love some buddies lol, you know since im new and all. Anyways thanks for reading my post.

Peace!

Great attitude PirateKnight! And trust me, after a while, those foods will start to seem unappatizing to you anymore, and you won't want to eat them nearly as much.

Oh, and I thought i'd post this for us, I think pretty much everyone one in this thread can relate...

Just because you were born in '97 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid.

It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the 90's just wont cut it.

You're a 90's kid if:

You can finish this [ice ice _ _ _ _ ]

You remember watching:
-Doug
-Ren & Stimpy
-Pinky and the Brain
-AAAAAAAH Real Monsters!
-Rockos modern Life.

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You just cant resist finishing this . . . "Iiiiiiin west philidelphia born and raised . . ."

You remember:
-TGIF
-Step by Step
-Family Matters
-Dinosaurs
-Boy Meets World.

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence . . . not

when everyhting was settled by:
-rock paper scissors or
-bubble gum bubble gum in a dish or
-daddy had a donkey inky binky bonky.

when cops and robbers was a daily activity.

when we played Hide and go seek until our legs grew numb.

when we used to obey our parents

You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record your FAVORITE song of ALL time.

"Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" was both a game and a TV game show.

Captain Planet. He's a Hero.

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green ranger, were meant to be together. ???

You remember when Super Nintendos and Sega Genisis became popular.

You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos . . . but never taped anything funny.

You remember watching Home Alone 1, 2 , and 3 . . . and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"

You remember watching:
-The Magic School Bus
-Wishbone
-Reading Rainbow on PBS.

You remember when Yo-Yos were cool.

You remember those Where's Waldo books.

You remember eating Warheads.

You remember watching:
-the 1st Batman

You remember Ring Pops.

You remember drinking Surge, and Tang.

If you remember when every thing was "da BOMB!"

When they made the new lunchables so that you could make pizza AND tacos.

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players.

Making those little paper fortune cookie things, and then predicting your life with them.

You played and/or collected "Pogs" :)

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet, or Nano and brought it everywhere.

one word. . . Furbies.

You haven't always had a computer, and it was cool to have the internet.

And Windows 95 was the best.

You watched the original cartoons of Rugrats, Power Rangers, and Ninja Turtles.

Michael Jordan was a king.

YIKES pencils and erasers were the stuff!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.

You remember when the new Beanie Babies and Talking Elmo were always sold out

You collected those Beanie Babies.

Carebears

Gak was the coolest stuff invented.

Lambchop's song never ended.

The old dollar bills.

Silver dollars, which were cool to have.

You remember a time before the WB.

You collected all the Troll dolls

If you even know what an original walkman is.

You remember wanting to sit on the orange Nickelodeon couch.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart.

"Talk to the hand" . . . enough said

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace.

You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground.

Before the MySpace frenzy . . .

Before the Internet & text messaging . . .

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded
stuff on VCRs.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off of our walkman.

When checking out drawing books and that one book about the rainbow fish from the library was THE cool thing to do.

You had slap bracelets!

Way back.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear.

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

Xorie Omg! I remember all of that! (Or at least the one's a read) That's so funny. It brought back some old memories. I loved Doug, and doing the Bubble gum thing, and also Eenie Meenie Minie Mo. Lol Wow. That made me smile for some odd reason, thanks for post that!

hie everyone i'm 19 and im having trouble losing weight. The major problem is prob because I lose motivation easily, and I'm rather sensitive, so whenever someone says I put on weight or look chubby and stuff, I'll get really depressed and upset. What is worse is that I didn't tell my mom or family about my weight loss plans, I dont think my mom will agree to me trying to lose weight. I did lose a lot of weight a few years back, but I gained it all back =( I'm looking for a buddy whom I can talk with or send an email to whenever I feel upset or feel like binging.. so anyone interested can just add me! I'm still constantly struggling with weight issues, and i'm glad that I foudn this thread.. all thes best to all of u out there

oh i forgot to add that im waiting to enter university in august, so I do hope to lose quite a bit of weight for university...hopefully that will be an extra motivation for me!

To Roody: I'm so envious that you can ride horses so often! It's not a common thing to ride horses over here, and it's really expensive to take up lessons at the stables; I've only gone riding like twice in my life and that was when I went overseas =(

Welcome summerbreeze058! Underage drinking! :eek: J/k.
Summer is the best time to lose weight. There is no stress from school, and there is much more time to exercise! :] I hope you do well. I'm reallllly excited you're back too! haha

But srsly. This thread can't die.

Welcome hayley_cookie also! I, just like you, have neglected to inform my family and friends of my weight loss goals. Well, I haven't told any of my skinny friends, at least. I am certain though, that the more people you DO tell, the easier it will be for you. No one will offer you sweets, and maybe even someone will want to be your exercise buddy. Who knows, but I think you should inform your family. (i know, i'm going to follow my own advice. >_>) Think of it as added motivation. You don't want to dissapoint those people, riiighhht?

As for your mom not agreeing with you on losing weight, I only ask why? Why would she want you to be unhealthy? Unless you already DO have a healthy BMI, I can't see why she'd feel this way.

My routine currently is just walking, as often and as much as possible. I'm not sure if it will work, but I enjoy it. I walk for an hour, atleast almost every single day.

I hope to get down to 130-ish by the end of summer. Plz.

I can't wait to get to the point that I reach every summer, where so much time is spent outside, walking, that I don't care about eating. Once I reach that, I'll start losing. Right now I'm eating ice cream on the daily, and binging like there is no tomorrow.

Also:

WHO IS READY TO KICK SUMMER IN THE ASS, AND LOSE A BUNCH OF WEIGHT?

Yeah, Mariah is!

*raises hand*

...

wait... school's almost out, so I don't have to raise my hand! :D I'm totally ready to kick some fat arse! :D I want to walk into my sports physical this summer and have the doctor go.."wow, you've lost a lot of weight since the last time you came in."

plus, I want to be able to surprise all my little volleyball friends. :D

I'm sure you will Xorie. :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gah, today I weighed myself. 159. LIKE TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS 152.
I'll admit it, I haven't been eating well... But I have done hours of walking, and last night I danced for over 3 hours... I figured today would be a good day to weigh myself, because of all the dancing I did. False.
Basically, I fail.
D: Tomorrow I plan on walking, and not stuffing my face constantly. This has been the pattern of things for months now. I lose weight, then shoot up 5 pounds... blah. I'm just complaing. I need to slap myself.
Any motivation right now would be muchly appreciated.
Is this thread dead or what?
