Zuzetka

I weighed myself the last few days and my weight seems to be at a standstill. I'm counting calories and definitley know Im at a deficit. I'm feeling pretty discouraged.

I know how frustrating it is when you feel like you´re doing everything right and the scale doesn´t move as fast as you´d like. But you lost 1.7 kg in your first week, that´s great! And you´re sticking to your planned calories, that´s also great! Not losing visible weight for a couple of days is not a rarity. Sometimes it´s hormonal (I gain about a kilo before every period, which promptly disappears again once the floodgates open), sometimes it´s to do with the amount of salt we eat (salt bloats), or unaccustomed exercise... and sometimes there doesn´t seem to be a real reason. Give it a week or two and see what happens.

LaMaria I WAS sticking to my planned calories until today.
Oh gosh today afternoon just went totally downhill. I went to my mother's so my sons could play outside in the garden. While they were enjoying themselves, I proceeded to raid my mother's fridge. Oh why did I do it. I wasn't even hungry.
Plus my kids just totally wore me out physically and mentally but I guess that's a topic for a parenting forum . Lol

But everything you said LaMaria is true and I agree. I just can't help it if I'm really trying and it doesnt show.

I just can't help it if I'm really trying and it doesnt show.
I know, it sucks... And it can make you feel like it doesn't matter and you might as well binge, especially when you're exhausted. What's done is done. Starting again right away. I ate so much today I feel like I'm going to puke if I move and it's so senseless!

It does suck that it sometimes takes a while for weight-loss to happen or to show. If you lose slowly & eat healthily you will be setting yourself up for life. The weight that is quick to come off is also very quickly regained. Be patient, Zu, with yourself & the process. Everything we do is part of the learning process. Be kind to yourself & move on & do the best you can :grouphug:

Thanks Cate.
What baffles me most though is when today I stepped on the scale (post my "little" feeding frenzy the previous day) it showed over 0.7 lbs less than yesterday.

Sometimes it just doesn't seem to make sense. I think if you had another little feeding frenzy the next day then the scales may say something different. Let's call it a get out of jail free card :)

Yes I'm sure if I overate the next day I would've probably gained according to the scale. Tomorrow is my weekly weigh in so I'm being extra good today.
Plus I've added a bit of IF into the mix. I'm curious to see if it'll enhance my results.

Great work! I hope that will reassure you the next time the number on the scale needs a couple of days to catch up with your hard work.

That´s annoying. So how did the week go? Did you struggle, was everything going well, or something in between?

My weight varies so much it drives me bonkers. Don't let it change your focus. Keep your chin up & keep going!

LaMaria the week went well besides Tuesday and a little bit Wednesday. That's when I got my...um...well I don't know if I can talk about "women's issues" on here. I know it's not an excuse but I just lost my grip on reality Tuesday. Perhaps my bloating is a contributing factor??
Cate I know. I was really on plan for 5 straight days and the scale didn't budge.
Hopefully in a few days when my body goes back to normal my weight will go down a bit (or hopefully a lot) again.

That would definitely explain it. Hormones have a clear and significant influence on our weight so I think discussing them sometimes is useful. I used to go up a kilo and a half when I was getting my period so if you´re anything like me only gaining 0.4 kg on the scale might actually mean you´ve lost a bit this week if you deduct the bloat weight. Overeating due to pms is a thing that happens, and while it isn´t great for the number on the scale a day and a half of overdoing it a little (doesn´t sound like you had a big binge, did you?) won´t completely ruin your previous hard work. Just keep doing what you´re doing and you´ll see the scale get nicer again in a couple of days.

You can do it! :hurray:

How's the kid's leftover situation going?

And hello :waving:
