Vote whether we can keep the slower increments, you want your rep powers back (even though they are still the same), or whether you dont give a damn.

Some of the threads are messed up, Tony.
For example:
In the COL, when clicking on the last page, it goes to page 170, but lists pages to 174, but when you click page 174 it stays on page 170.
In the 1,000,000 thread it is the same way.
May be something to look into. There may be other threads affected.

Why did anybody mess with the rep system in the first place?

Was gonna choose the "who cares" option but i like the new one....It stops the rep from getting to ridiculous numbers...eg. Mreik's 3294784328947 rep lol.
Tony you need to add an option of "total revision". PLEASE.
Personally at this point, I dont know if I want to revert back or keep the current one. What I do know is that other forums have a better system (still not perfect of course) that was better than the one we had before and better than the current one you changed to.
So, a little research and time communicating with other board mods/admins that have a simular but different system just may improve our system here. I know it can be difficult to implement, but personally believe it would be time well spent.

Yes maybe you can enlighten me as to why they are better. What forums you feel are better. Am I supposed to sign up for every forum on the internet trying to determine which ones have a better rep system.
Phate, mods can see deleted posts. There is no trigger happy about it. We were talking about resetting the rep system to see if the green bar would corespond to the new point categories. Therefore I had some fun with a few people who I knew wouldnt whine about it (lei, stroutman, and ccr). I then replenished their reps as of now because it is obviously a big deal to some.
Heres what I did:
Changed the 1 rep power gained for every 150 days member to 180.
" for every 25 posts to 125.
" for every 100 rep points to 300.
Lowered the rep spread requirement from 3 to 1
So the ability to gain easy rep was decreased. Everyone still has the same rep power essentially.

You are exaggerating my post, TM.
My point is simply there are different styles of rep systems you may want to take a look at. Try to do a google on "rep system rules on forums", or something simular and see what you come up with.If you dont have the time or dont want to give the personal time, this is okay.
We can then just deal with what we have and move on.Whether its better or not is subject to personal opinion. And, as Mods/Admins you have the "choice" to allow or disallow member feedback.
You know as well as I do, there are different systems out there with different sort of rules on other forums and there are forums that dont have one in place.
Another member may just find one, post it here, see what develops. If not, we just deal with what we have an move on baby!
How is the Weight Loss forum rep system working out? Is it simular or different than ours?
EDIT: And, how is the rep margin the same when Phate's rep was higher than Karks before, and now Karks is higher than Phates now by about 20 points?

Its the same because the both forums are vBulletin. I have seen some non vb forums which have double green bars. Some that dont allow neg feedback. What are some things that you like and have seen?
Ive been on forums that have rep systems activated, but noone uses them. Your experience with other rep systems (or anyones) would help create new ideas.
One thing to consider: this isnt my forum. I am able to adjust things, and maybe some ability to do skins/templates. However I will not mess with those because I am not the owner. There are certain features that I think we cannot change.
For instance, the user titles. I changed them, but a persons will only update after they make a post. This is because I dont have the permissions to change the whole site. So they update as people post, therefore users update themselves.

I think that you should get the same amount of rep points regardless of how many points the repper has.
I took a long break from the forum shortly after the rep system started so, didn't really experience it in its infancy. When I returned, the rep system seemed to be something that people argued about and that was about it.
Personally, I can't see that it has ever added anything to the forum and much preferred it when there wasn't a rep system. Advice given was judged on merit and open discussion rather than basing it's credence on the number of 'rep' points a poster has.
