I'm really looking forward to this challenge starting tomorrow. It will be a great chance for us all to get to know each other...

What kind of exercise do you all like to do?

I do lots of dancing and lots of walking...
I do salsa three times a week and zumba three times a week. I walk a lot every day too... Oh - I also do aerobics once a week...

That's great Brad.

(I think that everyone else in our team has pretty obvious names - mines is more hidden - I'm Margaret. )

Walking is a brilliant form of exercise. A lot of people under-rate it - but it was the best thing I did in my big project. It was really effective... Walking your dogs has an added benefit that the dogs will enjoy it and it will help them have a healthy weight too.

My goal for this challenge is to get back to jogging outside. It is coming at the perfect time...the snow is starting to melt and the sun is making appearances. I hope to get into a routine if walking/jogging in the mornings for at least 30 min. Then another 30 min of exercise at nights. I am reallllly excited!

We are going to have a great team, I can tell already!

I'm mainly into the stationary bike at this time for at least an hour a day. Walking is kind of out right now as the weather is more winter than spring in KY right now. The good news is, my gym membership starts in 10 days so I'll be hitting the treadmill until the weather lets me outside again. I'm just really looking forward to the gym. I'm looking forward to this, I love competition.

We are having poor weather too...

It is bitterly cold here in England... We have been getting a few flakes of snow every day - but nothing has been lying for the past week...

I don't have a gym membership - so have to admit that I do not do much ST...

I do go out walking most days for part of the day anyway - but if I chicken out I do have a Tunturi T60 (gym quality) treadmill in my living room... I therefore do some walking every day... I like my pedometer to get up to at least 15,000 steps... Tuesday is my big salsa night - I dance for 2.5 hourse (doing 3 classes) on a Tuesday and my steps often get over 30,000 steps... I also tend to do salsa on a Thursday and Saturday - but not as much...

I love challenges and I also think that our team is going to do very well... In fact - I think that I've lucked out again and got into the best team... I think that we are going to win this challenge...

The secret to winning these challenges is the same every time... There are points for exercise and points for mini bonuses... The chances are that people are going to drop points here and there because they cannot bring themselves to exercise or go for all the mini bonus points on offer... Any team that maximises those points is going to have a major advantage...

Weight loss can elude us all at times - but the fact is that any person who exercises consistently and has a firm control over their food is liable to get pretty good weight loss... If the whole team is doing it - then the team as a whole is likely to be getting pretty good weight loss too...

The fact is that if we were looking at just pounds - the heavier people would have a distinct advantage... But in this challenge - the points are awarded on a percentage lost basis - which evens the playing fields and the smaller people who are trying to lose weight can compete against medium sized and quite heavy people...

It is important that we do this as a team. We cheer each other on and keep an eye out for anyone who may be struggling or wavering in their resolve to make their weight loss dreams come true. Our health is important to us - and we need to allow nothing to get in our way of making it happen... We need to encourage each other and nag each other too... We can do it - and with the right attitude we will do it...

I very much hope that (irrespective of what happens in the other teams) no-one drops out of our team... I have confidence that our team will do very very well...

I actually want the other teams to do well - but I want our team to do better...

Omega, wow I didn't realize how much dancing you do! That is fantastic. I am quite envious actually.

I agree with everything you said. This is going to be a great team, and will be made better if we all help each other out. I appreciate your insight on past challenges and I will definitely keep your experiences in mind.

Tomorrow can't come soon enough!

So you'd recommend a pedometer, Omega? And 15,000 is impressive as the recommended amount is supposed to be 10,000. Well done!

And heavier people will lose faster, but this is based on percentages. 10lbs to a 150lb person is a bigger percentage than it would be to someone twice that. That's what I like about this challenge--it does even the playing field.

Yes - I do quite a lot of dancing... The best form of exercise is something that you enjoy and I enjoy dancing. :)

:biggrinjester: This is how I'll be earning lots of exercise points for our team

I'm a veteran of tons of challenges of this type... I became quite an addict with the challenges on this forum in 2007 to 2009. We used to do a lot of this style of challenge back then... I got to goal in 2009 and my challenge options became severely limited... I left and spent more time on another diet forum which had a greater emphasis on maintenance than was on WLF... We had challenges there with points for maintenance which rarely has ever happened here... Then my life became very stressful for 2011 and 2012 and I hardly ventured near any forum much... I predictably gained weight... At new year I stunned a few of the old timers by turning up to see if there were any interesting challenges to help me get back to goal...

I definitely recommend that people get a pedometer and wear it for every step of the day... Put it on when you get dressed and only remove it when you go to bed... You want to let it challenge you to become more active all day long - not just when you decide to go out on an exercise walk...

I did a lot of walking while I was doing my big project... I wore a pedometer from quite early in my big project and still wear one now... In fact to be more honest - I wore two for quite a long time to sanity check the first one... My step counts can get pretty high and I spent quite a while wondering whether my pedometer was broken and flattering me with an erroneously high step count... I got pedometers that you wear on your waistband and wore one on one hip and the other on the other hip...

I think that the other teams as discussing team names.

Has anyone any good ideas for team names...

Sometimes people opt for something punchy...

Sometimes people opt for a funny phrase...

It is good to have something to smack talk - and tell people that we are the best team... But - really, we tend to be able to some pretty decent smack talk with most things that we all like for one reason or another...

Team player initial anagrams do not tend to work too well as extra people sometimes get drafted in as people join late...

To give an example - the team names on the last challenge were GOLD, PLATINUM and VICTORY

Woohoo Challenge day is here! As for names...hmm. We should probably pick one, haha. I'm not good at this kind of thing. Hmm.

I will keep thinking because I cannot think of anything yet!

I like Team Success! It's very nice, simple, and positive!!!

P.S. - Hope everyone else is up! I'm about to start earning some water and exercise points!!!! :)

Same here, I like "Success".

Did my weigh-in this morning, now it's time to get down to business :D

EDIT: I was reading over the challenge post again and it looks like we can get up to 5 points/day (1 hour of exercise for 2 points, and 3 L of water for 3 points). It doesn't go any higher than that right now? And when/where do we post the before/after pictures?

I've weighed in too.

I've been out and done about 30 minutes of outdoor walking (bitterly cold here) -
We have the same teacher for both salsa and zumba...
we have our private salsa lesson on a Saturday morning and made it early because someone else had booked the hall from 10am to 11am...
then the other person didnt show up so the teacher just kept on playing the salsa music and we made use of the dance floor until zumba at 11am... We had a bit of a break before zumba - but I reckon that we danced for at least an hour and a half instead of an hour as per normal
then there was an hour of zumba
Exercise for today well and truly done. :)
