What are you currently reading?

I find Amy to be hysterical, but not on paper. I don't know why, but it doesn't translate so much.

Me Talk Pretty One Day is such a good read. So much fun.

I'm in the middle of Tristram Shandy and have been for at least a month. I read classic lit soooo slowly!! I made it past page 200, though, which I'm proud of.

It's also not helping that while I've been reading it I've been delving in to Richard Matheson, the Cirque du Freak series (good for preteen boys that don't like to read, but just okay for me), the Twilight series, and various and sundry other teen lit books that I got for free at the end of last year and am trying to decide whether they are 7th-grade-classroom-library-worthy.

I've forgotten my list for the rest of this year. It's upstairs and I'm too lazy to go grab it. But I sure did like Life of Pi. Is that movie out yet? I hope they kept the ..ahem.. big floating stingy thing in it.

Over the last 3 days, I've read two more books:

Becoming the Natural: My Life In and Out of the Cage by Randy Couture w/ Loretta Hunt
This is Gonna Hurt: The Life of a Mixed Martial Arts Champion by Tito Ortiz w/ Marc Shapiro

And, I'm currently reading another autobiography:

A Fighter's Heart: One Man's Journey Through the World of Fighting by Sam Sheridan

Couture's book just came out and is surprisingly well written and the story is very well organized. He's had a very interesting life, I couldn't put the book down.

Tito Ortiz's book reads like it's in his own words. The ideas jump around a little bit, but all in all it's an easy read and not too choppy. Reading about his life is like driving by a car accident, you don't want to stare but you can't help yourself.

Honestly, even if you have a passing interest in MMA, both of these books are worth reading. Couture's is just over 200 pages and Tito's book is right around 200, so neither of them take much time to get through at all.

Sam Sheridan's book is written in a higher register, so it's a much more interesting read. He really draws you into what's going on in the book because he's actually a writer and a Harvard graduate to boot. I'm not very far into the book, so I can't comment on the story, but less than 50 pages in and it's already got my attention captured.

I just started reading Prometheus Rising for the second time. I forgot how much I enjoyed this book.

Right now I'm reading Jacob I Have Loved by Katherine Paterson. After I finish that?

Rereads:
Armor by John Steakley
- Revolt in 2100 by Robert Heinlein
- The Prince by Machiavelli
- Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik

New Books:
- On Becoming A Novelist by John Gardner
- The Host by Stephanie Meyer
- Kafka On The Shore by Haruki Murakami
- Lasher by Anne Rice

Better late than never on this one! (The summer's not over yet) I've actually been trying to finish Fatal Burn by Lisa Jackson for a while now. I've been so busy, I just can't seem to find the time to read. It sucks!

Just finished reading Translation Nations interesting read considering the author and I share a lot of the same background.

I don't think I'll be reading anything other than food labels and newspapers. I just don't have the time and peace to read. I love reading, don't get me wrong, but if I sit down to read, I want to do so for several hours, not just a few minutes, and I just can't get that around here.

There's one place I do read though, and that's in the bathroom....*lol*...the books I have there at the moment are

'Treasure Islands' - Pamela Stevenson Connolly
'Unbeaten - The story of my brutal childhood' - Kim Woodburn
An assortment of 'Darwin Awards' books
And pretty much every book that Stephen King ever wrote. I read most of them, but still pick them up every now and again.

And yes, I do have a bookshelf in my bathroom...how sad is that? *lol*

I read when it's time for bed. It really relaxes me and gets me ready for some serious sleep. Right now I'm reading A Clockwork Orange. I saw the movie years ago, but the book is such a different experience. So much slang that it's tough to follow sometimes.

They wouldn't make multiple editions of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader if they didn't expect people to read in the bathroom..

I also have the Ladies bathroom reader and a bunch of other books on my shelf in my bathroom :)

I'm re-reading "The Dante Club" it is a great book I read during my summer abroad in Italy. It has so much suspense and intrigue, I can't put it down!

So... I just started reading "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer... It's very interesting and talks a lot about religious fanaticism, etc, especially with the FLDS church. Pretty eye opening and informational. So far so good but I'm not that far into it yet....

And.... Over the summer I did manage to read the unauthorized book Madonna's brother wrote about her, lol... Pretty juicy, and I'm almost ashamed to admit I read it, hehe...

Well, I certainly can't fit all of these into a summer. Well, I could but not with keeping up responsibilities and being a good mom. lol

(I can't post links here yet - bleh)

Well, I'm going along the BBC's "The Big Read" Top 100 Books. I'm working my way down the list.

I just read "Under the Bar" by Date Tate last night. Very easy, quick read. Nothing earth shattering but a good kick in the butt for those who need it.

That's a list of books that most of the British public have never read, but like people to think that they have read, except the Harry Potter and Bridget Jones books. That's about as brainy as most get these days!

I just finished reading Asimov on Physics. It was OK, if a bit flowery.
