Weighted Clothing

better than weighted vest

I understand where you got the idea for the weighted cloths training. I am a big fan of this show. But in real life the vests are not the best thing to use for this type of training. Because they make you top heavy. You should try using this other thing I found called Hypergravity Training. Very appealing sound to those who also enjoy that show. Anyway you can go here to take a look at the product.

Check it out. They also have alot of other cool stuff for other sports.

Have you read all of these replies to my thread?

I have been using this for about a year now and it has shown Great results.... I really do like the show that uses this vest but the Hypergravity Training is not for me..... I wear my vest during wrestling practices and it makes it twice as hard. But when I don't wear it to practice I feel like I am having an easy practice... The Hypergravity Training would not work with my practice because it is to bulky around the waist but the vest it nice and snug that will fit under the cloths....

My school is pretty big and i get alot of exercise running up and down the stairs. I get an even more of a workout since i carry all my books in my backpack which weighs in at about 40 or 50 pounds. My School has three floors so i have to walk alot to get to my classes. Right now i am wereing weight cloths to build up the rest of my body muscles. The great thing is the weights didn't take a chunk out of my savings and the reason for this is because i made my own. they work perfectly and they can't be seen under my cloths and i have to say ive seen an increase in my speed, strength, and my endurance. it was all put to the test not to long ago at school, our school has a bad fighting problem and i usually can avoid getting dragged in. but i was not so lucky and a jock decided to start a fight with me and i couldn't get out of it. a week before i increased the weight of my cloth so i was a little sluggish...basicly i took the weight off and was able to beat him

books that weigh 40-50 pounds all together?... Sounds like a bit much. How did you make the weights for yourself? Cound u post a snap shot of what it looks like?

On a side note: I haven't trained in long time. This is an old article that i started back in Highschool. I really wish i would have kept my training and my weighted vest. If i did i bet i would be working out with 100 pound vest by now. I know with enough Training anyone can increase the amount they can handle further and further.

i have alot of books so their weight adds up.
i made my weighted vest by stiching to t-shirts together and for the weight i melted used bullets and melted them down to make lead bars.
i started out with 60 pounds and now i'm up to about 90 give or talk a few pounds.
right now i have about 130 to 140 pounds on me if i include the ankle and wrist weights.

Started Training with weights? You mean now or back when i was working with the vest on? Cause as u can probobly tell this was back in 2005 when i was wearing the vest.

Nice job on making the vest. Could u take a picture and post it? It seems like the weight would be too much for the T-shirts to withstand.

Wow, thats alot of weight.

90 -- Vest
30-40 -- Ankle & Wrists?
How much for each ankle and each wrist?

ya i know.
i renforced the shirts with some old pants i grew out. the material is really strong and light weight and air can go through it pretty good.
the ankle one's are 20 each and the wrist ones are 15 each
i'm can run pretty fast with it all on and i can do 20 push ups to
i would have more weight on but i ran out of lead.
so i need to dig some more out of the ground.
ya i can post a pic i'll do it asap
when i take the weight off i feel like i'm a feather.
my reflex speed in amazing and i'm testing my speed all the time.
i live in the mountains so my endurance is probably through the roof

Do you have access to a pool? If so, just do some waist- and chest-deep running and sprinting. Better resistance without buying specialty equipment or loading up a bookbag with weights...

Provided you have access to a pool.

no i swim in a lake next to my house
i do alot of kayaking and rock climbing also.
i didn't pay anything to make my weights
so i do these things about everyday.
most of the time i have my weights on while i'm doing them

So did you make your ankle and wrist weights too? Have You actually weighed the weights?Whats your daily workout schedule like?

I know what you mean about feeling like a feather. I used to wear my vest all day and then take it off at night so my body could repair itself. I felt very light.

yes i made them too
i weighed them yesterday it came up about to 155-160
i live on a farm so my schedul is everyday farm chores

i'm 5'11'' and i weight about 155

i'm a farm boy so i'm able to put up with the weight.
so i'm in pretty good shape but i don't look it

I'm female, 5'4" and weigh 155. I don't need to carry around extra weight in a jacket, etc., although I've done it before -- it's called hiking/mountain climbing all day with an 80-pound backpack.

We all know muscle is far more dense than fat, but I'm beginning to think I must have extremely heavy bone ...

i live in the mountains so i hike and rock climb alot usually everyday
i know i don't need to have weights on but i want to it's fun

so......is it good?

hey guys great to see people replying to the forum even after so long.
i am really interested in weighted clothing and been reading alot about it.
some people are saying it's really good, others say "don't do it" cos it will wreck your joints...?

i don't know wat to believe...?

im 17, fit, but i don't know if there are any long term side effects. if anyone who has used weighted clothing could reply that would be awesome!!!
i would be using it for mainly kung fu but how often should i wear it? all the time?

also maybe a starting point would be good...
age: 17
weight: 70kg
height: 175cm

thanks

I'm a little unsure about the whole weighted clothing thing. Depends on how often you're wearing the clothing and weights, you would also need a certain recovery time?
Why not just participate in a full on resistance training program?
