Weigh Yourself Everyday (or frequently) Club

Hey Angel, good to see you back here, and you are not doing too badly, still about 70 lbs down and in what is probably a healthy spot. Hope you see that goal weight though! Tom and Missy I believe salt does play some part in the water weight thing, but for me I can't tell how much. I have experimented a bit with it and the outcome kind of varies, more salt does not always mean a weight gain, less not always a loss. So I have more or less stopped worrying about it. I am lucky, always had low blood pressure and the Dr says I have nothing to worry about with salt.
I just go downhill with any junk food...but it's hard to avoid completely at events or those one-off binges. Definitely great if you can portion control but I find I don't have the discipline and need to avoid it all together.
Same problem here, as LaMa said in another thread abstinence is easier than moderation, definitely true for me.
My sister bought Fire House subs. I have a large tuna which is not even remotely that good health-wise. What I do is portion it out and only ate 1/4 of it, which coupled with everything else today didn't end up bad for my overall numbers. It is way high in sodium and fat, but what I eat is low in fat anyway and I didn't eat a lot today.
That is great portion control Tom, I am impressed. Do you have high BP or a medical reason to limit sodium intake?

I think you do, it's good for your health, both physical and psychological, being focused is good.

Nothing new here.
  • July 2020, entered maintenance at 167 lbs, after both my doctor and trainer said I needed to lose no more.
  • August began daily weighing, ranged 163 to 159.
  • September began 160, ended 158, ranged 160 to 154.
  • October began 159, ended 158, ranged from 155 to 162.
  • November began 160, ended 153, ranged from 153 to 164.
  • December averaged 156 and ranged from 151 to 159.
  • January 2021 averaged 155 and ranged from 149 to 160.
  • February averaged 156 but ranged wildly 145 to 166.
  • March averaged 147, ranged from 143 to 153, the high just the one day after surgery.
  • April was not a great month, averaged 157 but ended at 164..., ranged from 147 to 166.
  • May was not-so-great , I averaged 156 and ranged from 149 to 165, unfortunately I ended the month with a binge and up into the 160s
  • June was not too great either, averaged 160 and ranged 155 to a one day peak of 172.
July 2021
  • 1 - 162 lbs
  • 2 - 162 lbs
  • 3 - 159 lbs
  • 4 - 160 lbs
  • 5 - 158 lbs
  • 6 - 162 lbs, just after the binge
  • 7 - 159 lbs
  • 8 - 160 lbs

  • 12 - 163, after the binge

After losing about 160 lbs I began maintenance in July 2020 and am trying to stay somewhere in or close to 160.

That is great portion control Tom, I am impressed. Do you have high BP or a medical reason to limit sodium intake?

My mom had high BP and my sister and I take strongly after her. That said. I've always been super afraid of having my blood pressure checked even as a kid. I remember as a kid the doctor telling my mother that my blood pressure was higher than it was supposed to be and I've been afraid of it ever since. Every time I go to the doctor it is up and as years went by it went up higher and higher. They put me on a BP med and I take that. But what it truly is I don't know. I have a panic attack every time.

As far as sodium goes, I feel that it does effect me based upon experiments, but I'm not obsessed with it. I try to keep it lower if possible.

Yesterday, I was around 3000. And my weight was down today, but I did mow yesterday also, although I didn't sweat as much as usual. The less sodium, the more I go to the bathroom. So for me, it seems I tend to retain water if I eat more. I don't feel as bloated keeping it lower, but like I said I don't stress about it. It's just something I am aware of like magnesium or fat content.

It's weird even talking about this without panicing. At least by losing weight, I am doing something about it.

I am headed out in a few minutes for a short vacation, driving to Oregon. Probably won't be able to weigh until I get back, Thursday morning. Don't know how much control I will have over food, but will try. Just not bingeing would make me happy.

Tom, great to see you below 250!! Good work. And Misty you seem to be holding your own, could be worse so good for you too.

Okay. Well I splurged yesterday. It is so hot. Heat indexes up to 106. I drank a lot of water including about 20 oz of a carbonated beverage. And ate and ate and ate. Oh well. I had my day in the sun. now get back to the basics for the next phase.

The past two day I ate more but still under my calorie deficit to lose weight. The difference? I haven't exercised or got outside in 2 days now so not really sweating a lot and I drank a LOT of water each day. Today I'll get outside and sweat. Tomorrow I should be down. I just hate this whole water thing, but it doesn't bother me as much since I know what the problem is.

I know the feeling. I didn't want to weigh today, because I drank a lot of water and had no exercise yesterday so I knew I was going to be up again, but oh well.

As far as stress eating, I don't handle it all that well. I'm a night eater also so what I try to do is save 1/2 of a calories strictly for night. I don't eat a lot in the mornings so that helps. So usually after dinner, I have 400-500 calories to play with for late night snacks. I know it's not the best solution, but as long as I am staying under a calorie deficit, it will have to work for now.

Going to bed hungry and hot, at least I can take care of the hungry part.
